This is the best first car to have.
To drive this is like a dream cheap to run would go buy another one. Best first car money not in your pocket all the time. So smooth on the road. It's better than Holden Astra. I bought because it was cheaper to run. The space on the inside is bigger than I through going to be. Just love it.

Definitely great value for the price you pay and what you get!
I purchased a 2016 Mitsubishi Mirage ES automatic car brand new at the 2016 plate clearance in January 2017. It only had 45kms on the odometer and was never a demonstrator model so my 5-year warranty started the day I bought it. I got an excellent price due to the dealer wanting to get rid of 2016 models to make room for the 2017 models, so I essentially paid the price of a second-hand car but got a new car. Best time to buy a new car is January.

nt cars on the road. It had three-quarters of a tank in it when I bought it, this lasted me a week and a half and took me over 200kms (most of which was even slow, peak hour traffic). When I went to fill it up (when the fuel light started flashing), I only spent just under $30.00 filling the tank to full. So definitely not a strain on the hip-pocket! When the fuel falls below a certain level, the fuel sign alerts you by continuously flashing till you fill it up, however, it seems to still show just under a quarter of a tank of fuel. I would have preferred it to have the estimated number of km's left so I could decide how urgent filling up is. I eventually found that you have to go into a menu to find this information….would have preferred this to appear near the odometer and stay on instead of having to press a button and go through a menu to locate this information. The front seats are nice and high in that as the driver, you have a good view of the road and everything around you. It is a little deceiving how far you are to the car in front of you as the front bonnet dips down so that when you are in the driver’s seat you don’t even see your bonnet at all. I guess it’s something you’d eventually get used to. Being small, it is really easy to park, however inside, especially the driver’s seat and front passenger seat, it is actually rather roomy for a small car. There are three holders for cups near the gear stick and lots of little compartments in the doors etc to put things, however, it does not have pockets behind the driver and front passenger seats which is a shame. I found it strange that it has this little shelf at knee level under the steering wheel. I don’t know what you would store there, but accessing it would be difficult while driving. The glove box is actually quite roomy and I can fit a street directory (a good sized one), a hardcover novel and a newspaper and still manage to close it. The front seats are very comfortable, however, I don’t like how the headrests push your head forward (as most cars do). Luckily I was able to reverse the headrest and it still was able to fit into the slots securely, once I did this it no longer pushed my head forward and I felt very comfortable, not all cars let you reverse the headrest and still slot in securely, so I find this is a great advantage. The front seats are completely adjustable with slide and recline, the driver’s seat is also height adjustable. I went and got some tailor made good quality sheepskin covers for the front two seats. Now the car feels extra super comfortable and luxurious. The voice recognition I must say is hopeless. My son and I spent about 10 minutes trying to get it to dial one mobile number, it kept trying to dial 000 and a whole bunch of random numbers and symbols no matter what we said or how clearly we spoke. At least we got a real laugh out of it, especially when I made the statement..…” by now you’d end up having a crash trying to get it to dial that number”, then it said “pardon?” and we both roared with laughter. Luckily my son recorded the whole ordeal and then uploaded it onto his YouTube channel for a laugh. There is the option to do voice training which I will do and hopefully, it will work better once I do the voice training. What’s funny is that there have been a few times while driving (without having done the voice training) that it did end up getting the number correct, then other times when it gets it totally wrong. There is an option to add numbers to the car’s address book which then makes it much easier when you want to make a call. You just need to have your blue tooth switched on your phone and all the buttons you need are on the steering wheel to make a call. The car will even warn you if your phone battery is low. The boot is very small but still quite useable. I was pleasantly surprised how much extra room can be obtained by rolling the back seats down. We managed to fit an enormous 121cm tall, 4 level cat scratching post/palace into the boot with the seats rolled down which was great. Otherwise if it had not have fitted in we would have missed out on that treat for our cats (we had found it at the side of the road in a council clean up in an area far away from home). I like the fact there is only one button that both unlocks the car doors and the boot, then to open the boot you just need to pull the handle (similar to the car door). I prefer this setup as opposed to a separate button for the boot as I found in my previous car this would sometimes fail and was expensive to fix.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Poor fuel economy, noisy interior.
We bought this car primarily based on the fuel consumption figures. Supposed to be 4.6L/100k combined but in reality on a good day on a highway it gets 5.5L. A massive difference and when questioned on a service, Mitsubishi just say it is within tollerances. Yeah, right. I had a Toyota Echo years ago that had a stickered 5.5L but I consistently got 5.3L and that was when I lived up a mountain. Very unimpressed with the Mirage. I also had to sound proof the front and rear of the vehicle because people in the back couldn't hear people in the fron...Read more
t with the noise. With low cost sound proofing it is so much better. Ultimately at 5.5L+ for level highway driving and an excessively noisy cabin, I vote that this will probably be the last Mitsubishi I will own. Our previous car was a Lancer and again it was a thirsty beast. I have one comment for Mitsubishi - don't lie about your figures! They are just plain wrong and I look forward to returning to Mazda or Toyota soon. If you're looking for a small cheap car avoid this one. It is cheap but it does not deliver on what was promised.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Terrible
Another micro car that deserves no stars. To start brake pads gone at 15000kms. Sluggish CVT engine that makes the car jump and hesitates if you have to put your foot down. I had a Suzuki Alto and that was way better. it claims to have 4.6/100kms but I can not get anywhere near that. for me it's 5.5 and that's following the little crappy eco mode on the dash.
Few cars that are better- Suzuki Alto & Kia Picanto
Beware this junk from a crap company

Cheated on Fuel Economy
We bought this car purely for its Fuel Economy but were misled.
The sticker on this car says Combined consumption is 4.9 L/100km, Urban 5.6 L/100km, and Extra Urban is 4.4 L/100km.
We have never got better than 7 L/100km - despite driving very carefully and mixing local and freeway trips (over a four month period).
The rest of the car is fantastic. Great turning circle. Small outside but roomy inside. Nifty to park. Very comfortable.

Our new favourite car.
This was the first Mitsubishi I've ever owned and I've found it to be such a joy to dive, it's really good on fuel, cheap to service and is so very comfortable. We bought this as a second car but now the family prefers this one! Really really happy customer.

Surprisingly Delegate and Economical Hatchback Ever
Mitsubishi Mirage is the world's most fuel efficient car in the hatchbacks with out any electric motor battery, it gives more than 40 MPG drive range on highway and more than 27 MPG in the City which makes it a Economical hatchback car ever. Decent to drive explore more with the 2016 Mitsubishi Mirage.

Very good and reliable
We've had this car for nearly a year now without any problems. Performance is not bad for such a little engine and handling is good. The inside is roomier than it looks and looks well finished. I've sat in the back seat and had plenty of legroom. We have been driving Mitsubishi cars since 1972 and find them reliable and getting better all the time.

It is a perfect City/Suburban runabout.
Purchased this car as the town runabout. Did a lot of research and there were plenty of professional motoring writers with negative or you can buy better cars reviews.
I think they must be driving a Merc then getting into the Mirage experience. My experience is it is a perfect town car, school pick up car and fit into any car space car. It is very good. Our top of the range LS model was only $13990 D/A and is well speed with standard inclusions like cruise control, privacy glass, bluetooth for mobile phone calls and music streaming and cli...Read more

Awesome little car
I have had my Mirage for nearly a year now, and I haven't had any problems so far.
I read someones review saying there's a lack of cabin space, but I'm 187cm with long legs. I can sit in the drivers seat, then get in the seat behind and still have plenty of leg room. I folded the back seats down and after removing the parcel shelf, I was able to pick up a brand new 55 inch tv with my little Mirage.
It has creature comforts like auto lights, auto wipers, and you never need to take your keys out of your pocket.
It costs me about $35/fortnight ...Read more

Good little car
This car is excellent for learner drivers or those that have trouble with manual cars.
Pros:
The gearbox is easy to use and the clutch has a long distance between the friction point and stalling. The car also has good consumption rates and the tight turning circle and light steering make it easy to fit into tight spots. It is also quite inexpensive but still has the important safety features (airbags, ABS, etc.). This car also has Bluetooth, air-conditioning, powered windows, 5 star AN CAP rating, powered steering, etc.
Cons:

2014 Mirage review
12 months of owning a 2014 Mirage, used daily to work, with a few minor issues:
Door unlock remote stopped working after 4 months, dealer replaced at first service.
Evidence of rust in the engine bay, will show dealer at next service.
Gentle knock from accelerator pedal heard/felt occasionally (usually within first few minutes of start up).
USB connector in glove-box, not very user friendly location.
Bluetooth hands free performs well, phone pairing is a snap.
Cruises at 100km/hr comfortably.
Conclusion: Cheap economical motoring simple and effective, built for purpose to get from A to B.

Awesome little car :)
Purchased brand new LA LS hatchback a few months ago, very impressed so far
Pros:
Extremely cheap to run (only 1.2L 3cyl, approx 500km off 25L fuel)
Cheap to service with capped price servicing ($240 a year if i remember correctly)
Plenty of power considering its only a 3cyl car
All the flashy features bluetooth with voice control, climate control, cruise control, electronic power steering, power windows etc
5 star ANCAP rating so very VERY safe
Pretty big boot for a hatchback (way bigger than my old yaris)

Very happy with new Mirage
Have had my new Mirage now for 4 weeks 2014 MY15, upgraded from a 1998 model. Base model ES CVT has all the safety gear and connectivity you would need, voice control for phone calls works perfect every time, fairly perky performance for a tiny motor, heaps of room inside, picked mine up for 15k, blue with wheel and wing package, 5yr warranty, 4yr capped price servicing and 4yr roadside assist + 3yr free car wash :] Bargain!!!!!

What a suprise
I test drove a Manual ES model today and even though the salesmen had to teach me how to drive manual before I could drive it I court on quickly and really enjoyed it for $12,990 it was a fantastic deal. Before driving it the Toyota salesmen told me how cheap and rubbish it was but after he drove it he knew it was a winner. My only problem I've got an Automatic license but I will definitely be getting a manual one asap.

New Mirage Much Better Than Expected
I am a fan of 3 cylinder cars for their eager and thrifty performance. The new mirage I test drove was a CVT auto and took off from standing still to 80km/h very quickly on a main major city road. The ride and handling were more than adequate for a compact city light car and the brakes were arresting. The motor has a distinct sporty note that Daihatsu owners would be familiar with. The interior is large and the seats are very comfortable. Only standard unleaded fuel is required meaning further fuel bowser savings. The pricing is also keen in the marketplace.
A true modern economy car, takes over from where Daihatsu left off

Sad decline of a once great car company (2014 Mirage)
Mitsubishi, what have you done? And more importantly, what have we done to deserve this sad excuse for a hatchback? This car was brought by my sister 2 months ago, so I took the time to make a review. The Mirage of yesteryear used to be one of the best hatchback you could have brought: Zippy, Sporty, Good looks and value for money. You would think that having known all this, Mitsubishi would have done the same with the new model... No... Everything about a successful hatchback was thrown out the window and quickly slapped together a dreary, bor...Read more
ing cheap car. The dashboard is made from melted down McDonalds toys, Seats pulled straight from 1995, and the engine is that of a remote control HotWheels. You would think that Mitsubishi would have put some effort into making this, with sales declining across the globe (Down 15% in the USA from the previous year which was also quite low). Looking at the Mitsubishi range it's not hard to see why no one is taking any interest; Dull designs, over priced and no value for money. If you are thinking about buying the new Mirage, stop for a moment and consider this. For the same $$ or a bit more you can get yourself a Ford Focus, Fiat 500 or a Nissan Pulsar. It would probably be cheap to run and thats it. Woeful engine performance. Boring design. Cheap interior, not an improvement of the older Mirages.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Grab a bargain
I was looking for a good low kms used car (small) as my daughter is on her L plates. Many of these used cars were in the 13 to 14K price bracket. I then saw Mitsubishi advertising the new Mirage for 12,990 drive away. This was for a manual however. The auto is 14K or over. However at Northshore Mitsubishi I took the Mirage for a test drive and was impressed straight away. They offered me an automatic for 13K and this included 5 years warranty and fixed price servicing for the first 4 services. This is a great little car, easy to drive with all ...Read more
the mod cons. It looks really small on the outside but you would be surprised at the leg room in the back seat even for tall adults. Why would you buy a small used car with deals and service like this? Good looking, miserly on fuel consumption, well equipped for the price and comfortable.Similar opinion? Nice - Looking
I took 1 for a test drive today, on paper this car is excellent value, it drove ok, up to 60kh a slight vibration on take off, this version is the LS CVT, the seats are very comfortable the climate control superb, and as I said up to 60kh it was almost smooth, it just felt a little unsteady at times. On the highway the body roll was scary, so this car is perfect for the city dweller, I wouldn't buy 1.
Seats very comfortable, climate control awesome, warrenty and service 5 yrs and the capped price is 250 every year for 4 years.
Body roll, engine noise, vibration at start and take off, and bootsize.

Questions & Answers
Shanasked
Hi, I just purchased a 2014 mirage and in trying to figure out why the aircon isn't blowing cold air, I've noticed the radiator fan isn't spinning - that I have seen. I haven't done any long trips in it yet, generally only 10 minute drives so far. My question is, how long should it take for the fan to kick in? I am scared to drive far in case the fan isn't working!
Thank you for any help!
1 answer
Radiator fan should only kick in when it needs to i.e. it won't spin as soon as you turn on the car. It will eventually start spinning when you are stuck in traffic (you'll hear it click on) but shouldn't need to if you're driving in normal conditions as there is enough cooling via the normal airflow over the radiator.
haidy1970asked
Just purchased a la 2016 mirage, very impressed with it, the only problem it has no temp gauge, it has a green temp warning light when you first start the car up it, that warning light goes out once car reached operating temp when you drive short distance up the road, also a red light if it over heats, the green one for low coolant.
Is it possible to get a temp gauge there is a space for a gauge does Mitibishi make a gauge.
2 answers
It's not something I've noticed, sorry. I guess that modern radiators are so reliable these days that it's not something I think about. Check with your dealer.
I purchased my Mirage in January 2017 at the 2016 plate clearance, it is a 2016 model, I have exactly the same issue with the green temp warning light coming on when you first start up the car then going off by itself a little later. I was going to bring this up at my 1500km service... but since you are having this issue also, perhaps it is a common thing.
