Old school style and reliability
The fuel consumption is good being diesel despite being a weighty car.
On road it eats up the miles effortlessly.
Comfortable good handling and braking .suprisingly powerful engine for highway running and towing. Off road it is a competant performer. Allow for correct tyre pressures and it handles most obstacles well.
Vision all round is good being an older style body.
Interior in functional if not a bit dated in design.
The sound system phone integration sucks .it is complicated and just silly.
The reversing camera function is very handy.
In summary a better choice than a soft roader.
A very good value for money package compared to its major rival.

Excellent
We love our Pajero VRX Diesel. Great fuel economy solo or when towing, fantastic offroad performance especially on sand and dunes and maneuverability of much smaller car. The only drawback is an aircon which depending on setting either cools or heats but it might be an issue of only our car.

Computer problems on NT
6 years of no problems. Out of warranty 5,000k and barometer failed on the computer which sets car into an emergency response and shuts down many systems e.g. will not climb a hill, no power, no cruise control etc. Expensive new computer still not perfect with anti-skid lights on when accelerating. Would not like this to happen on a big trip.

Reliable Tow Vehicle.
On the positive side the Pajero tows our van easily when compared with our Territory. The rear seat is easy to fit and remove and the hole provides a handy storage cavity. The interior is roomy and has all the basics you need. The 5 year warranty is brilliant but i do wonder why as part of the service schedule the tyres aren't rotated. I also don't understand why the service centres don't suggest wheel alignments rather than waiting until they are requested & tyres are beyond repair.
The lift kit on the rear tyre illustrates why the tyre should...Read more

ABS braking problem
I have just had fitted a new ABS module to my 2000 NM Pajero (256,000kms) This was carried out by a Mitsubishi dealership with a 2 year warranty. Upon cold start there is a distinct buzzing noise coming from the ABS module which now lasts for 24-26 seconds. Initially this noise lasted 15 seconds. After 3 brake activations the noise again commences and lasts 3-4 seconds,. The dealership and the mechanic stated "this is normal" and it will go away"
As I have just paid almost $4,000 for this "noise" and if this is "normal" I am left to wonder how many new vehicles would be sold if all new vehicles had this noisy brake system.
Regards. Griffo

Very Surprised
I tried a number of similar vehicles. Test drove many. I didn't consider a Pajero and was ready to purchase a Prado, when I decided to pop into a Mitsubishi dealership down the road. Surprisingly I found the Pajero diesel more responsive than Prado and tended to hold the road better or felt firmer. What topped it off was that the Pajero exceed MY2016 (top of the range) was $17k cheaper than the mid range Prado. Obviously bought the Pajero towards end of financial year. Had it for 3 months now and very happy with it. The extras are awesome to boot. So glad I test drove Pajero.

Great drive but watch the DPF
The Pajero has great visibility, is great around the city and easy parking. Off road (soft sand) and it performs very well. Buyers of second hand diesel Pajeros need to be aware of the DPF.
Mitsi don't really have a handle the issue. My car had less than 130,000km when the DPF failed. The repair bill was more than $6000.
The DPF fail brings an otherwise great vehicle comes to a standstill.

Great family wagon
Intented to get an outlander for it mid size, 7 seats and its price. But tested the pajero instead, out of interest. Love it at first drive. Moving from a Lancer it gives me the road presence and the confidence. Ride is is marginally better than my CJ Lancer and it sound better than my Lan-blender.
Selected this instead of a Kia sorento or Hyundai Santa Fe due to it ground clearance and proven 4wd ability. MUX is in my list but my Miss is turned off by its ute like interior and overall size. Prado and Everest is too expensive nothing below ...Read more
50ķ and the Sport, well it's yet proven. So far over 9000km on the clock and not a mech problem. Been to several places Mt Mee after the rain, Condamine river twice and couple of the beaches, no problem. All the time on 4wd only and yet tested other modes or the locker. It drives well on highway averaging 7.5 with 5 persons on board and high 10 to 12 in town. Coming from a Lancer all controls are simple and the dash is well layout. Some might say its design is old but i am going for simplicity, less to fail. Cabin noise is better than previous models, but not as good as the koerans or the premium brands. Thanks to it monocoque body and full independent suspension, don't feed like a boat, that's how my in-laws compare this to a R51 pathfinder. The 5 speed is smooth and intelligent (6 would be better), matching well to the engine output. Both are old tech, but it works well. Tested and proven for the past 16 years with most issues sort out in the earlier models, so a big tick in my reliability criteria.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

brilliant vehicle
drives well, yes its a bit rough and the sound of the diesel clatter can be considered a bit loud to todays standards .The interiors could have been a bit more better especially the quality of the interior plastics . Extremely reliable vehicle and low running cost as of now . The only upgrades that i have done is put brighter bulbs and install a music system with a USB port as the old one did not have a USB port .

Pajero Sport 2016 Fantastic 4x4
Only 1 week old but loving it. Great 4x4 characteristics and as car reviews show. Very quiet cabin and soft leather seats give a sense of quality and a plush ride make traveling our country a pleasure. Yet to get my head around all the "infotainment" but would like the "nag screen" to accept my "agree" to be the final say not every time the ignition is switched on. Will update after hitching up the 2.2t caravan. Still getting used to "fly by wire" accelerator as all previous cars have had cable throttle. Do like the 8 speed auto and the paddle ...Read more
shifters on the steering wheel. Awesome sounding stereo and DVD in the back for grandkids (5 Seater model) Do like handeling and smooth ride. Not sure about 8 Ltr per 100 Klms as advetised more like 8.7 but yet to settle in. Do like 5 year warranty and yearly service. LED Lighting Vgood. Update....Its settled in more and is light to drive and very maneuverable. Continues to impress me with 6 L per 100k (on the dash) and 5.7 @ 80klms (roadworks). Had it down the beach when a bogged Jeep GC asked me for a tow out of the sand (wheres a camera when u need one). Very capable 4X4 as the transmission feels very assured. Take one for a test drive and you'll love it.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
No GPS
I have just purchased my fourth Pajero Exceed as I have previously found them to be a comfortable and reasonably capable 4WD. I now regret this purchase as the Pajero has now only got a fourth rate navigation system based on Apple maps which is not a true GPS and only works where there is internet coverage .i.e only where I don't need it.
User unfriendly as I have to fiddle with entering destinations on my phone and cables to the glove box. This is a very big backward step and I will have to buy a Tom Tom to get the safety of proper GPS coverage on holiday.
Mitsubishi think it is wonderful and have no advise to offer.

More than I expected
I like my Pajero 2010. I have done 26K in 18months. Have done some long trips ($4,600Kmsin 12days) never had any problems. Good value for money. Comfortable, and confident driving in evry weather and terrain. I have done some medium 4x4, sand drive, kept me confident and happy all the time. NIce to drive and usually get 9L/100Kms.

Cheap systems and equipment
Having recently purchase the Pajero Exceed, I have been exposed to issues I would not have expected from a vehicle of this price.
After driving on the freeway at just on the speed limit on three occasions and being abused for holding up traffic, which has never happened to me before, I used first one than two and finally three different GPS's to check my speed. All three indicated that I was traveling slower than the vehicle indicated speed. This variation ranged from 5 km/h at 70 km/h, to 10 km/h at 110 km/h out on the open road.
A...Read more
rmed with this information and thinking this was merely a calibration issue that could be easily corrected, I requested at the first 1500 km service for this issue to be addressed. I was met with the same response from the service centre, right through to the customer service head office and technical support. They refused to remedy this issue, stating in their response "The vehicle complies with Australian Design Rules as it was built, and conforms to the intended design tolerance's provided by MMC (Japan)". Their was no further interest by Misubishi to assist with the rectification of the problem. This leaves me now in a 70K vehicle, having to guesstimate the speed when wanting to travel on or near the speed limit. Another issue is the so advertised "Sat Nav" system. There is no Sat Nav system but only Bluetooth linked monitor you need to connect your mobile phone to so that you use your own system of navigation.Similar opinion? unstoppable and reliable 4WD
Love this car. I have a 2002 NM Pajero 3.2 litre turbo diesel. It has been a very reliable and economical car with seven seats. It is great off road and rides very well. Would recommend a suspension upgrade especially in the rear as it does sag. The timing chain is an added extra bonus and adds to vehicles reliability. The old girl has now done 280000klms and still going strong. Averages 10 litres per 100klms. Very capable off road and has a great VCU four wheel drive system. Great value for money.

Great bang for your buck
I bought my 2010 NT GLX Pajero 3.2L DiD manual Paj with 169000km on the clock almost 8 months ago and to date cannot fault it. On the black stuff it drives beautifully (although the diesel motor is a little noisy, coupled with the Cooper Discovery AT3 tyres) but offroad is where it truly excels. Unfortunately mine came without the optional rear diff lock however with the centre diff lock and traction control I have found it to be more than capable of getting through whatever I throw at it. The Super Select II 4WD system coupled with the active ...Read more
traction control is a marvellous bit of kit. The fuel economy is quite good for a car of its size, averaging around 9L/100km country and 10-11L/100km city driving from its 88L tank, made even better with the addition of a K&N filter and Safari snorkel. The interior is neat and tidy albeit a little plasticy and dated but on the whole it's comfortable and spacious. There is enough room for my family of 5, and the rear cargo seats fold away nicely under the floor which also double up as a handy storage compartment if the seats are removed. The seats are comfy with ample leg room in both front and back. I found the standard suspension quite good allowing sufficient clearance underneath the car, with the diff pumpkin tucked up and out of harms way as to not get caught on any large rocks or rutts, however a 2" lift would definitely benefit. Overall I am very happy with my purchase, however the 180,000km service did sting the hip pocket a little. While it won't win any races, it will get you to those secret camping spots without too many issues.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

best car i have ever owned
just buy one.....you will not regret it.....great value FOR money......& great off road........if i were you i would go for the exceed.....don't mess around.
Model year 2016 Mitsubishis are covered by a five-year/100,000km warranty in place of the previous five-year/130,000km deal. It won't affect most private buyers who are unlikely to rack up 20,000km a year. Service intervals are 12 months/15,000km; the first four trips will cost $2600.

great BUT..... the rust
the car drives well on and off the road, it is what i brought it for and it does a great job, the dash is very dated against today's models, and have found the running costs reasonable, that is why I brought a diesel, though the service cost is a bit higher.
The main problem is that the doors have a known problem of rusting, there was apparently a let down somewhere with quality control, I have not been able to have it fixed properly, the only real fix accounting to my search is for the doors to be reskinned, all I am offered is a paint job where the chances of it coming back are very high. SOOO if you are considering buying one check under all the door rubbers.

Love this car
Beautiful to drive only picked it up yesterday but seems excellent build quality very comfortable. Great ride, represents excellent value compared to the prado, and in my opinion slightly more comfortable, although prado does have a more modern dash layout, the Pajero has a better infotainment unit with Apple car play or google car play, great feature. Well worth a look and a lot better ride than a ute based suv and the deals Mitsubishi are doing at the moment are amazing!

Tow power
Towing caravan and boat trailers and this Pajero is doing its job pretty well. Mitsubishi said it can actually tow up to 3000 kg. Its also great for long distance travels and the engine is quiet compared to my last one. Prob is GPS I had to buy a separate one also when towing there's really no way to open the back door.
