Love this car I’m obsessed
This car is great to drive, it’s quiet easy to handle. The interior is spacious, there is a fair amount of leg room even travelling with 5 people in the car. I like the dash setup and the aircon comes out really cold in summer and hot for winter.
The triton is an extremely reliable car, we have driven ours to qld and back twice and it never skipped a beat. The fuel efficiency is great especially for the size and weight of the car

Love this car very comfortable to drive
This car is very comfortable to drive and great on long road trips. Lots of room in the back I have 2 car seats in the back and still lots of room. The hands free is easy to use but takes abit to program the numbers in to it. The 4wd is easy to operate but takes a while to disengage

Great honest ute that does everything it's designed to do.
Hope this isn't too long winded but want it to be helpful. Work in the industry and know my way around most makes and models, below is my best non bias opinion.
Brought my triton dual cab glx plus pack new in Jan 2014, just sold in Jan 2018 after 106000kms of happy and reliable motoring. Never had a issue since new, replaced battery 2015 and front pads and machine in 2017. Servicing can be expensive at the dealer averaging about $500. Fuel consumption average 9.2l per 100kms and is very consistent. Motor has heaps of grunt, is quiet and refi...Read more
ned although can be a bit laggy and can fall off boost quickly at lower revs which can take some getting use to. No such issues with EGR blocking which I attribute to minimum city/stop start driving. Manual gearbox is smooth with well spaced ratios although first could be a bit shorter for towing. Interior room is great, seats a little hard but I had no issues, completed 4 return brisbane to Sydney trips during its life, no problems. Used to tow and carry heavy loads often and does it well in most cases, however would not recommend towing 3t (although I probably wouldn't with any standard ute) as short wheelbase can make it sway at high speeds. Anything up to two tonnes no issue, if you're towing heavier more often, consider something else. General handling and road behaviour is great, steering has great feel although a little slow, body control consistent and great in the wet for a ute, traction and stability control are good although can be a bit intrusive (safer then not however just a bit annoying). Does suffer a bit of excessive body roll and I found the factory brakes to be a little underdone, greatly improved with quality pads but not perfect. Paint and body work have held up well although some surface rust had appeared on the tray which appears to be a common triton problem All in all a fantastic work/play/family ute, great value and believe if looked after will serve faithfully for many years. Is it as good as a hilux/ranger?? Maybe not, but is the hilux/ranger etc worth the extra 10-20k? In my opinion absolutely notSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Nice
It also comes with seatbelt reminder, ‘active’ head restraints (front seats) to reduce the likelihood of neck injury in rear impacts, three-point seatbelts all round (for five), rear seatbelts with Automatic Locking Retractor and Emergency Locking Retractor. Achieving a 5-Star ANCAP safety rating, it also comes with ABS brakes, stability and traction control (Vehicle Stability Assist), Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD), Motion Adaptive EPS and all the expected and now quite-meaningless acronyms.

2 1/2 year and 74,000km and STILL waiting for it to be fixed
Owned a 2010 MN and traded it in on a 2015 MN. From day one, the 2015 MN was 'wrong' with a weird surge while using cruise control. I reported it at the 1500km 'free service'. Last year, yes, late 2017 a 'software patch' was installed to fix the problem, but, in the meantime it started to surge going uphill, both when using cruise control and manual acceleration.
I have just noticed it blows a heap of black smoke as it surges going up hill.
I've just called the dealer, Von Bibra and have been told THEY are waiting to hear about from Mitsu...Read more
bishi Motors Australia ('MMA') about the uphill surge issue and I should call MMA. WHY? It's the dealer who sold me the car! But, to help, I just tried to call MMA and could not get to speak to anyone. I had to leave ANOTHER message which is now the 4th or 5th message in the past 2 1/2 years and NO ONE EVER CALLS ME BACK. WASTE OF TIME.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Overall - Good all rounder
I bought my GLXR MN Triton in 2010, initially I had surging problems with it that concerned me - but Mitsubishi attended to them ( over a period of 6 mths) under warranty. During the past 7 years I've travelled 150,00kms over some of the harshest conditions Australia has (the photo was in the Simpson Desert) - without any trouble. Like a lot of 4WD owners I've added lots of extras ( upgrades) to assist in my travels. Suspension - bar work - tyres - ECP remapping - exhaust - dual battery etc., but a couple of essentials you should also conside...Read more
r is a extra fuel filter and a oil catch can. I had a Hi-lux ( LN65) before this for 19 years & when upgrading obviously looked at the Hi Lux again - there great vehicles but a lot more coin ( lots) a family member who runs his own mechanical workshop suggested I look at the Mitsubishi Triton, I did & bought one. Good value for money vehicle, nice to drive. Tows my boat nicely. High range / low range gives you a good selection of 4WD power / traction options. Like any car / 4wd regular service / maintenance is important. If you have any questions pls feel free to ask - happy motoring. Cheers ShaneSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

good car
The triton is a good reliable car so long's you don't go to a dealership for servicing just like any car take it to a reliable mechanic that you know. The car rides well and is pretty good on fuel been turbo diesel and is 5 litres per hundred cheaper to run than my landcruiser. It has a bit of grunt up in the top revs but down low i think its well underpowered as there doesn't seem to be enough torque down low

Well what can i say
I love this vehicle, so reliable on the road and bush.I just love the pickup this has on the highway even, when overtaking, pulling power is amazing, and the fuel economy is great as well.Only downfall is the passenger seat its to rigid and vibrates, which could be fixed I think.

Still has to pay itself off
I needed a ute that could tow, had a canopy, 4wd and decent back seat for the kids.
This absolutely ticks those boxes and I can get 3 kid seats in the back.
There was a bad batch of 2.5 litre Diesel engines. Porous block, not sure how a block can be porous but anyway mine was one of them.
I became aware of the problem when the heater went cold and temp gauge fluctuated. This occurred at 80000 kms.
It went to Mitsubishi and fortunately it was under warranty so the block it was replaced.
put 15000 km on it since then and so far it has been okay.

Not worth the money bad service too
Was told at sale that my services would cost a set price of $200 each. This only happened on my first service. Didn't honer the deal. Then I had it serviced by a reputable mechanic. Then after a few month black smoke blowing out of the exhaust rang the dealer told to bring it in. Checked it out then looked at the book and said that I've voided warranty because went to a mechanic. Told me nothing they can do unless I wanted to pay big bucks for repairs.Took it back to the mechanic he was not impressed as he uses only the best parts ect.Now 3 yea...Read more
rs later making a terrible noise took to mechanic said that the turbo going. I've been through financial difficulties and haven't been able to keep up with all the services but I rang Mitsubshi and they asked how many kilometres I'd done told them 136,000 they said nothing they can do because not only hadn't kept up with all the servicing but I've done 6000 km over the warranty. Now would you think that the turbo would last more that 3 years? I had my other triton over 10 years without any problems at all. Yet purchase the newer one thinking it would last the same if not longer but it's just been a nightmare.Very quick to take my hard earned money. Paid cash and they don't want to know. Honestly thought it would of lasted longer Will NEVER buy Mitsubshi again.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Value for money
Purchased Aug 2013. The vehicle is a manual diesel model - purchased as a towing rig for a 17 foot caravan.
Comfort is basic and the seats can become quite uncomfortable even on short runs. My wife has purchased a cushion to make the seat comfortable.
Foot/leg room on the driver side is a little cramped for a tall person. Your leg hits the centre console and the raised left hand side of the floor doesnt give good foot room.
The rear seats are bottom numbing and I would dislike being a passenger in the back seat on a long journey.

bute ute
This is a great ute as long as you leave it as factory std. We towed a 2200kg van from Adelaide around the coast to Brisbane inc Canberra. My wife needed a Aldi cushion to make her princess throne comfy.
I have had the power increased but resulted in burning a clutch & more fuel used so don't bother.
Also use on our farm and goes anywhere.

Owner from new 2011 MN Triton
A new gear box in the 1st year under warranty apart from this I am happy my purchase
Upgraded suspension oil catch can and blocked off the EGR port
You have to service the Triton on a regular basis i service it every six months
I use this vehicle to tow a boat or a camping trailer
Don't expect to tow a large caravan or large tow large boat
Like a lot of the new diesel Utes
the motor capacity is just not There
Overall a sold performer with a few up grades

Appalling Quality and service
Where do I start.... Expensive to service, Mitsubishi dealers not completing services which are paid for, poor economy after about 15,000km, exceptionally poor build quality, strange noises coming from just about everywhere now after 70000km, Unable to carry more then 150kg in the tub or the springs warp (invert) and shockers burst. Can't wait to get rid of this expensive piece of garbage!! Will never buy a Mitsubishi again.

Value for money
I bought the ute for dual purpose. I needed to carry larger items, collect firewood etc plus take the family around and this fit the bill, . The price is almost $20k lower than many other brands on the market and more expensive than something like the great wall but made my decision not just on this, but discussed with a few mechanics and panel beaters I know on issues they have come across with all utes. Triton was my compromise. I have heard a few have had mechanical issues but mine has been fine so far at 60000km. It has the well known turbo...Read more
lag but you can alter your driving style to overcome this. Am very happy for the price I have paid and the Triton does everything I need it to do. Pros; Ute gets loaded pretty heavily and leaf suspension holds well.Tritons have a longer tray than most which I really like. Very happy with fuel economy at 9.1l/100km. Always has plenty of overtaking power on the highway A/Con and heaters work good. Like the USB plug in the glove box for music storage play back through the stereo Bit weird, but winding rear window is great when your car has been out in the sun and you want to cool down quick. Also good for the dog, and mates have this open to their canopy for wagon style option. 4WD works well. Plenty of beach driving done and no issues. Has diff lock option. Cons; Pretty noisy on the road Very very plastic inside - marks very easilySimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Overheating and Engine replacement issue
I loved this car when I bought it in April 2014. Yes, has turbo lag, but have gotten used to that and the vehicle works for me as a farm car, towing vehicle and I love the fuel efficiency. All has been great - until now. Currently it is in at the shop getting the engine replaced - I think. They don't seem to want to give me too much detail - but I am a dumb female after all - or they just don't give a *****. Not sure which. Anyway - it boiled while I was 5 hours away from home. Took it to my mechanic - not the dealer (as they were solid booked ...Read more
for a month). He advised that there was a leak in the motor somewhere after testing - and that he knows of 3 other tritons with the same problem that have had the motors replaced - one of them twice. After I made a complaint direct to Mitsubishi they have supplied me with a virtually new MQ to use while I wait. Yes. Great to have warranty - but bloody inconvenient to not have your car for possibly a month - and it was 4 weeks before they would even look at it. And I agree - can't see how it wouldn't reduce resale. Bring up overheating for that model on the internet and find that there was apparently a campaign to sort out the problem - which I was never advised of - and the replacement engine has been changed due to a machining problem with the head in the original. Thank God the internet can tell me what really goes on.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Engine seized @ 117000.
Driving experience: 7/10. Sluggish and significant turbo lag. Handling and noise levels ok, Brakes on the auto need machining often as they tend to warp for some reason.
Liked the interior all around. More comfortable seats in the front would be nice though. Ample legroom in rear.
Reliability, well it was good until the engine seized. Running costs are relatively bad for a 2.5 TD. 14L/100 generally.
Motor seized @ 117000 out of warranty by around 7-8 months or so. Has had all scheduled servicing until I brought it in for the 90000 service ...Read more
(done @92000) where they did not perform the service as requested/as per normal - they only did the brakes and one of the many recalls on their brand. The dealership blamed me for not understanding that it wasn't done at the point of payment, even though that's the reason I sent it in and was done so due to the regular SMS they send me to say "your triton is due for a service" which I rely upon as it's one of 3 company cars.. When the motor died at xmas, I only then checked the logbook to find it hadn't been stamped. It's quite obvious I always send it in ONLY for the servicing and get extra work done at the same time. The current service is overdue admittedly - however I only received the SMS this or last week which I always act upon. (They also follow up with a phone call if you don't respond) So basically if my local Mitsubishi dealership (Wangara) done their job the same (which I was more than satisified with - albeit they are quite expensive) as they did for the previous servicing, it would have possibly been rectified at 92000 instead of at the next service which is now due - however the engine has seized so it's kind of pointless... (Yes, again somewhat overdue as mentioned.) NEVERTHELESS, a diesel should NOT die so young, nor should it use that much oil in 25,000 km - it appears gluggy/dryish however the sump has not been drained to check properly and it has not been moved in 2 months Not exactly sure what the cause of death was, but could be low oil (had a severe leak on the side of the motor (see photo) or it could be a timing belt. Yes, I also found out it was due for the timing belt. Thanks for letting me know that now, it doesn't mention anything about that in the logbook. These motors are prone to carbon buildup too from my research so that could be why the oil is thick?Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

One great 4x4 machine.
When i got this ute i was"nt too happy with it too long, underpowered,to bumpy and light on the steering, but after doing a few mods to it, 2"lift 265x75x16 ko2s,and8"steels,3"exhaust,catchcan,snorkle,wow,goes pretty good, fast on take off leaves others standing, goes great in the bush and straight up sandhills, not noisy, and i put a tjm roobar on,the little extra weight over the front wheels gave it just enough to make the steering nice, inside is very roomy especially in the back seat, could be a bit bigger in the console ah,but itl do, and i thoug...Read more
