Excellent Customer Service and Warranty Support

published

Our house is a project home built around 17 years ago. We had some problems with minor leaks for no apparent reason. We contacted Monier who came out and took some tiles away for assessment. It was found that the tiles had a fault. We now have a brand new roof replaced by Monier under warranty. Very happy with the outcome and the customer service was excellent.

Poor quality & even worse customer service

published

We built two houses with Monier Horizon profile. Both houses now have significant leaks and this was blamed on debris and moss build up. This is ludicrous. Long story short we are left with a house that leaks unless we put sarking in at a cost of $15,000. Monier are not accepting any responsibility for their defective products.

Monier will not honor the 50 year warranty

published

We have a Monier Tile roof. It has broken tiles. WE have been trying to work with Monier to reimburse the money for broken tiles and we will pay of labor and cost to install the new tiles. Monier’s Attorney said that the warranty we have was never registered even though it has a stamper number on the warranty. He said Monier will not honor the stamped warranty . Ant suggestions on how to proceed? Thanks in advance

Crack and leaking tiles.

published

All our hips slid. All our tiles faded. Over 100 have cracked. In Hervey Bay as well. Still in Qcat with the builder and it is nearly 4 years.

October 9th 2022 Update: Roof Tiles

We have been in Qcat 5 years because of Monier Horizon tiles. They will not help you as a company even if they know there is a fault. Never get these tiles as they use a side clip that does not support the tile in place properly.

Colour fades quickly

published

I have had a near identical issue with monier rules add the previous reviewer. I put monier gloss black flat tiles on my new home mid 2009 and within about 2 years I noticed some fading where the gloss black looked more and more like a matt grey and its been getting worse since and now its a washed out faded redish colour and it bothers me how bad its gotten every time I look at it. The house down the road was built years before mine using bristile and it still looks pretty good, holds its colour much better than monier.

Hello Craig, awaiting further info. Will list extensive issues encountered over a period of time. It's a wonder we still have a roof. This Co. should be held accountable.

Hi Craig. We have the same tiles as you. Ours were installed in 2011 and now look terrible. The colour coat on the tles has eroded to the point you can see the cement of the tile. How did you end up in regards to your claim ?

Hi Matt, we discussed at length with the solicitors and needed a minimum $10k in trust with an estimated $25k to fight (with no guarantee of a result).
So we left the roof until last week, when I requested a quote for a high pressure clean and re-spray... turns out that there are fractures, spider surface cracks (aka crazing cracks) and many broken under lips (side of the tile that goes under the neighbouring tile).
So now we are getting a report from this professional tile restoration company and there is another gentleman coming next Wednesday to give his assessment.
So according to this company they will not restore and the tiles will need to be replaced (his professional opinion... waiting on report).
Looks like Monier are going to have me chasing them again. I'll keep you posted... how are you going?

Hi Craig, I have submitted our claim with NSW Department of Fair Trading. NSW Fair Trading presented our issue with the roof tiles to Monier and all that Monier are prepared to do is provide a quote to respray the tiles. So in short if I am prepared to pay Monier they will respray our roof. Of course this offer is totally unacceptable to me. Why should I have to pay to have Monier fix a poor performing product of their manufacture? So this matter now escalates to where I will be submitting my claim to the Fair Trading Tribunal.
The irony of our circumstance is that Monier's online promotional material claims that the colour coat technology of their standard tile range outperforms Colourbond Steel roofs by 78%. I don't know how they came up with that claim. If it was true then there should be some very shabby looking Colourbond roofs in our estate. The fact is that there quite a number of Colourbond roofs in our estate, of similar age to our roof, that look as good as the day they were installed. Please keep in touch as I am keen to see how you end up with your roof.
