Excellent Customer Service and Warranty Support
Our house is a project home built around 17 years ago. We had some problems with minor leaks for no apparent reason. We contacted Monier who came out and took some tiles away for assessment. It was found that the tiles had a fault. We now have a brand new roof replaced by Monier under warranty. Very happy with the outcome and the customer service was excellent.

Poor quality & even worse customer service
We built two houses with Monier Horizon profile. Both houses now have significant leaks and this was blamed on debris and moss build up. This is ludicrous. Long story short we are left with a house that leaks unless we put sarking in at a cost of $15,000. Monier are not accepting any responsibility for their defective products.

Shame! Shame! Shame!
Monier roofing problems.
Having researched several companies within the industry for a new roof, it was decided to engage monier roofing as they were reputable & one of the best at the time, with a quality name.
The biggest mistake ever made.
Sometimes it takes years for problems to surface, however a new roof should last longer than this.

They don't want to know if you have a problem!
We chose Monier roof tiles because we thought they are a reputable company and we would be choosing quality tiles. When we saw Horizon Sambuca tiles on Moniers display wall, the tiles looked lustrous, shiny, smooth & rich with colour as did the sample we received in the post.
Our roof is brand new and unfortunately it doesn't look like that. Our roof is faded, many tiles have dags on them, bulging lumps are in the centre of some tiles, the paint is thin, its flaking off in areas, and some tiles have blister marks from being in the pallet. The ...Read more
pointing has cracked in areas, and broken pieces of tile were left in the gutter from installation. Clearly we've been unlucky with the batch we've received. We expected the roof to look new, considering it is new, its 4 months old. If the display we visited, and the sample tile we received looked like this, we never would have chosen this roof tile. Our Builder contacted the Rep asking him to come to the site to discuss our concerns, and to sort out a resolution to the problems. The Rep came. He said he that he couldn't see a problem with the roof. He said our roof would be acceptable to him if it were on his home. (I disagree) That's very easy to say that when its not your house. He wasn't interested in acknowledging anything wrong. It comes down to your standards he said. What's acceptable to one isn't acceptable to another. If it doesn't leak and it looks fine from a distance, then there's not a problem. He didn't consider you can see the roof tiles from the upstairs windows.Similar opinion? Monier will not honor the 50 year warranty
We have a Monier Tile roof. It has broken tiles. WE have been trying to work with Monier to reimburse the money for broken tiles and we will pay of labor and cost to install the new tiles. Monier’s Attorney said that the warranty we have was never registered even though it has a stamper number on the warranty. He said Monier will not honor the stamped warranty . Ant suggestions on how to proceed? Thanks in advance

Crack and leaking tiles.
All our hips slid. All our tiles faded. Over 100 have cracked. In Hervey Bay as well. Still in Qcat with the builder and it is nearly 4 years.
October 9th 2022 Update: Roof Tiles
We have been in Qcat 5 years because of Monier Horizon tiles. They will not help you as a company even if they know there is a fault. Never get these tiles as they use a side clip that does not support the tile in place properly.

Colour fades quickly
I have had a near identical issue with monier rules add the previous reviewer. I put monier gloss black flat tiles on my new home mid 2009 and within about 2 years I noticed some fading where the gloss black looked more and more like a matt grey and its been getting worse since and now its a washed out faded redish colour and it bothers me how bad its gotten every time I look at it. The house down the road was built years before mine using bristile and it still looks pretty good, holds its colour much better than monier.

Monier Colourless, Dull and Lifeless Roof Tiles
Monier (a CSR Brand) advertise their concrete roof tiles as having a "Colour Performance - The benefit of Concrete tiles is its colour longevity and flexibility". Also "Colour Technologies to retain the look, beauty and re-sale value of your home".
In December 2010 our home was built using the Monier Horizon Sambuca tiles, a black glossy tile that you could imagine may lose the glossy look to a more matte black finish over time. WRONG, after only 6 years 4 months, our black glossy tiles have now been described as a red-sandy washed-out colou...Read more
r. https://ibb.co/cBnS1Q I decided to ask around my neighbourhood of other homes that had flat roof tiles and to my discovery, my neighbour (from across the street) had his roof completely re-roofed (under warranty) only a couple of years prior. The difference with his colour was his grey coloured tiles went to a white-pinky washed-out colour. He said that after "many phone calls and reports they finally agreed to a re-roof". So I decided to visit my local showroom, to which I discovered that this was "not the first time we have seen this" and that I would "need to contact CSR in regards to any claim".1 comment

Hello Craig, what was the end result of your claim? I too have problems that have recently surfaced, however of a different nature.

Hi there, please see my reply to Matt.
We are waiting on further reports... what is your problem (of a different nature)?
Hello Craig, awaiting further info. Will list extensive issues encountered over a period of time. It's a wonder we still have a roof. This Co. should be held accountable.

Hi Craig. We have the same tiles as you. Ours were installed in 2011 and now look terrible. The colour coat on the tles has eroded to the point you can see the cement of the tile. How did you end up in regards to your claim ?

Hi Matt, we discussed at length with the solicitors and needed a minimum $10k in trust with an estimated $25k to fight (with no guarantee of a result).
So we left the roof until last week, when I requested a quote for a high pressure clean and re-spray... turns out that there are fractures, spider surface cracks (aka crazing cracks) and many broken under lips (side of the tile that goes under the neighbouring tile).
So now we are getting a report from this professional tile restoration company and there is another gentleman coming next Wednesday to give his assessment.
So according to this company they will not restore and the tiles will need to be replaced (his professional opinion... waiting on report).
Looks like Monier are going to have me chasing them again. I'll keep you posted... how are you going?
Hi Craig, I have submitted our claim with NSW Department of Fair Trading. NSW Fair Trading presented our issue with the roof tiles to Monier and all that Monier are prepared to do is provide a quote to respray the tiles. So in short if I am prepared to pay Monier they will respray our roof. Of course this offer is totally unacceptable to me. Why should I have to pay to have Monier fix a poor performing product of their manufacture? So this matter now escalates to where I will be submitting my claim to the Fair Trading Tribunal.
The irony of our circumstance is that Monier's online promotional material claims that the colour coat technology of their standard tile range outperforms Colourbond Steel roofs by 78%. I don't know how they came up with that claim. If it was true then there should be some very shabby looking Colourbond roofs in our estate. The fact is that there quite a number of Colourbond roofs in our estate, of similar age to our roof, that look as good as the day they were installed. Please keep in touch as I am keen to see how you end up with your roof.

Update: So CSR advised us that they would "not be doing anything with our roof as it is not a warranty matter". No re-spray, no re-roof not even an apology for manufacturing a terrible product.
