Doesn't work for hair clogs
Tried this for a bathroom hair clog in the sink and bath. Made the problem worse! Created a mess and lots of fumes. Went to Bunnings and got their hair clog product instead which saved me. The guy there explained that crystals only really work on grease.
Purchased in August 2021 at Woolworths for $7.00.

Terrible
It only gives bad smell and bubble, and nothing worth. Now my bathtub is completely blocked. The smell was so bad that I could not enter my toilet and repeat the steps. But anyway I repeat it with my mask on. After 3 times of the process, my tub is completely blocked and now is time for a plumber =.=

Fixed up the issues no problem
Mums kitchen sink has been making gurgling noises for years now and she was starting to get annoyed because it’s pretty darn loud - and embarrassing.
I thought I’d give this product a go as my workplace sells this and it looked convincing.
Now, the packaging says this product is meant for slow running drains but this wasn’t my issue here.
I followed the instructions carefully, instructing Mum to as well when I’m not at the house. 2 heaped tablespoons of the crystals, and a cup of cold water to finish it off - straight down the drain.
After 12 minutes of waiting, I ran the tap with cold water for a few seconds, waited for a bit, which the gurgling started soon after. I repeated the process once more.

Used to work
They changed it for sure. We never use it or recommend it to anyone now. All it does is release toxic gases that stink out the unit and just hisses and bubbles away without de-clogging the sinks pipes. I had to use the plunger while wearing a gas respirator and rubber glove to clear the drain as over an hour after using it, it still didn't do anything.

Cleared drain, almost knockedme out!
After repeating the process a few times, this product cleared our drain.
The fumes it put out were unbearable though, toxic & foul...had to open the house up for hours.

This stuff is really dangerous
We had a blocked drain in the kitchen sink and I thought I'd try Draino. Next thing you know the crystals began bubbling and giving off noxious fumes. They were so bad we had to evacuate our house and spend the night at a hotel. I looked up the web curious about the ingredients, Sodium Hydroxide? Check it out, that's what were breathing in and it's not good for you. It might be safe for toilets perhaps but use with care and breathing mask if used in sink. The next day I solved the problem by undoing the S bend under the sink and clearing the gunk trapped there.

Will only work in certain situations
A drain can be blocked by many different things and as you don't usually know what it is, the best solution is to start out by using a plunger, which will usually work. If the blockage is caused by hardened fat or grease, a sodium hydroxide based product is best because it transforms grease into soap. This works best when hot, thus the ideal product is Drano crystals, which is sodium hydroxide with aluminium flakes. Once wet, the sodium hydroxide attacks the aluminium creating heat, hydrogen and thus pressure. If you hold the plug AND the s...Read more

Works exactly as advertised
Had a slow-draining bathroom wash-sink, with water from hand-washing taking many minutes to drain away. Two tablespoons then a cup of water (not accurate, just turned on the tap for a second) as per the can's instruction, and left it to fizz. Came home, and water gurgles its way down the drain, instantly. I was as surprised, as when I saw the (sigh) coloured beads, and shavings of what look like magnesium, I thought: bet it's all show and no go. I was wrong, and its under the sink ready for when the slow drain reappears. Should last for years.

Now my bathroom sink is completely blocked.
My bathroom sink was draining slowly recently, went to Big W and bought this for $12.
Used it as suggested, and 3 rounds later (no more than 3 times as suggested), it is now completely block, with green colour floating on top and making the sink green.
Thank you Mr Muscles!

Completely useless. Don't buy.
I should have read these reviews earlier. Bought the product for a blocked kitchen drain and used liberally to absolutely zero effect. Went out and bought a $2 plunger the next day and the problem was fixed in literally two minutes. This product is absolute rubbish.

No instructions as to concentration or how much to use!
This might be a good product. But without concentration or recommended 'dose', it risks overuse (I'm sure that's why the information is missing, too. I've used drano crystals for years and i know the amounts were in tbs or tsp, ml or g. I'm a chemist, and this schocky lack of info annoys me
