Rear camera rarely connected since the beginning, less than half a year, turns off automatically
This is the first dash cam that I purchased. After the purchase on Jul, less than a week, rear camera starts failing to connect. After reconnect the cable, 50% chances to successfully reconnect, but over the time, it will be less successful. Since a couple of months ago, the issue started occurring on Front cam as well. After turning on engine, the power is on, and the monitor shows front cam view for like 20 seconds, and red and light blue line appears in the screen and it turned if off itself. It intermittently successfully recording for a while, but for the last week (less than half a year since the purchase), reconnect the cable from camera and power socket even don't work.

user manual feedback
Feedback for the manual, it's limited in its details a troubleshooting section would be ideal also, given the feedback Navman get from customers some common issues that come up, it should be included. I have mine hardwired with the smart-box. A negative is that the camera is continually on recording 24/7 and doesn't turn off when the engine is turned off as it did with the standard lighter plug.
The unit is easy to use and set up is simple even for a techno newbie
it comes with plenty of cabling, sufficient enough for a large family SUV or Van
Quality of recordings is good
I am very happy with this unit, having the duel cameras is great and reassuring that events can be captured front and rear.

In relation to recording function, please note that the MiVue850 device is designed to function continuously when connected to a constant power source, which is recommended for parking recording. The Smartbox power supply has built-in feature that allow you/your installer to set the desired time and power voltage limits before it automatically shuts down (eg: to turn off automatically every 8hrs or when battery voltage gets below 11.8v). You may refer to the user guide here: https://www.navman.com.au/upload/support/guides/Navman_SmartBoxII_UserManual_EN_R00.pdf All the best, Navman Support TeamSimilar opinion? wifi is always DISCONNECTED. Speed info is not accurate.
Having been using the cam for about 2 months, basically I like it. It’s easy to install and the video quality is good even recording at night. I paid extra 100 bucks to buy this rather than Mivue800 because it comes with wifi and GPS. However those features make me feel very disappointed. Wifi are only few times connected successfully. The download speed is so slow. I believe the GPS provides speed info for recording but it’s not accurate. When I drive 50kmh it shows 45kmh. When I drive 40 kmh it shows 36kmh. How can the recording be a proof in accident without showing correct data?

Hi Kin,
GPS speed readings are more accurate than your car speedometer. this article does a good job at explaining it... Read more
https://www.geotab.com/blog/the-need-for-speed/ There is also a really good article from the RACQ regarding the design standards surrounding speedo accuracy, which you can read here https://www.racq.com.au/cars-and-driving/safety-on-the-road/driving-safely/speedo-accuracy Essentially, you can consider the speed readings in the MiVUE 850 to be more accurate than the speed readings from the car. Regarding the WIFI, it uses the wifi wireless bands to transmit the data, but it will not transmit data at the speed you see with your wifi internet, because it isnt capable of transferring at that speed. limitations are caused by the card speed on both devices, as well as the sending and receiving modules. I hope this helps clear things up. Thanks, Senior Navman SupportSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Unreliable and expensive
Parking mode requires a separately purchased power supply that needs to be hard wired. Even with the additional supply installed parking mode only works if the unit has GPS reception (ie not in your garage). This means parking in your garage is treated as normal driving and you will store a maximum of 3-4 hours on a 64GB micro SD card. Also note the firmware updates from Navman don't work - they brick your device meaning you're stuck with the speed camera data at point of sale.

Regarding the device needing a GPS signal for parking mode to be active is categorically incorrect. all that is required is hard wired power via a MiVUE SmartBox. the GPS reciever and parki... Read more

Not as good as it should be
Wifi needs to turned off to record @ 1440p. Even with the Wifi turned off, picture quality is still very poor with number plates not being able to be read at more than approx. 5 metres. Really not worth paying the extra $200 over the Mivue800 which I have in my wife's car. Most of the other features that are not available on the Mivue800 will be turned off as they are too intrusive. The major plus of the Mivue850 is notification of speed & red light cameras

0p standard is the same if it is a TV, laptop or a dashcam. However this does not necessarily mean there may not be an underlying issue. if you would like, we can private message you to give you an email address to send one of the photos, and a small video to, so that we can analyze it to check for potential issues.Similar opinion? Questions & Answers
Shreyasasked
I have a Navman 850 and basically since day 1, the hardwired parkmode lasts for about 2minutes (if that) and turns off. It is definatey not the car battery because this was installed on a brand new 2018 car but please explain why it does not stay on or what settings need to be readjusted on the dash cam itself and the parkmode box.
Thanks

Hi Shreyas,
Thank you for your question.
If connected to a Smartbox, all NAVMAN dash cameras will continue to record like normal when the car is turned off. However, since your device comes with a parking mode feature; this enables the device to enter a hibernation state (constantly recording a short buffer to the internal memory but not to the SD card) and will only save to the SD card once motion in the field of view is detected and/or the G sensor is activated, thus using less power and memory card storage.
It is also possible that your device only goes to LCD standby when in parking mode. To check this, kindly go to Menu > System > LCD Standby > Select Always On, 10 Seconds, 1 minute or 3 minutes or HUD.
To properly set up the parking mode feature, you may click the link below the steps.

Try to hard reset the main camera by inserting a small rod (such as a straightened paperclip) into the Shutdown button beside the USB port (on the top of the device) to shut down the device. Leave the device off for 5 seconds then press and hold the Power button to turn it on. If same, check the firmware version on the MiVue Dash Cam device, go to Settings > System > Version. The latest firmware version is VBR72.57.B292.BA1WD.01. If you don't have the latest firmware version, please click here: https://service.navman.com/M0100/F0110_DownLoad_Faq.aspx?bullid=AllBull&faqid=131617 to install the latest firmware. *Note: if it's your first time visiting our FAQ site, select a region first then try the link again.
