Disappointed with what i thought would be a good wireless router
Bought the D6200 almost a year ago. It worked well for a while but the wireless fails intermittently.
I blamed my ISP but nope, upon investigation it was the D6200. It's wireless is suspect. (wired works ok)
Shall now search for another brand that might actually have a good wireless system.

It works
Must say I'm surprised at the negative reviews. Mine worked out of the box and the WiFi was a massive improvement on our previous modem. Very noticeable stronger signal at the far reaches of our home.
Internet connection is aways stable.
Recommend it especially now they're down in n price.

Drop out Drop Out
Purchased 6 months ago. Within the first month started having drop out problems, which I had not had with the previous router. Drop outs at the worst were up to 20 times a day. Looked for assistance through Netgear who did their best to help with solutions like reboot the device eventually restore to factory settings and re-install firmware. These solutions were a temporary fix. Eventually took it back to retailer who replaced with a new D6200. Same problems occurred. Netgear again tried to help but the there appeared to be no reasonable soluti...Read more
on that didn't cost me more or require me to be with out Wifi for an indeterminate amount of time. Stripped Netgear software from the computer and operate as basic as possible now dropouts are as few as 4-5 a day. Not sure what is more annoying the drop outs are having to replace a $300 router after such a short amount of time.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

It's good, but worth the price?
As my previous 600N dual band modem/router turned out to be faulty, I purchased a Netgear D6200 as a replacement as recommended by a sales rep and I ended up returning it after 2 days.
The reason for the return was not because of faults or anything but just that its parenting control function did not suit our needs; i.e. it does not allow time-based access control of individual devices, even though the salesperson said it did.
Also, for the price, which was more than twice as much as my previous device, the coverage of the signal was not...Read more
that great. The Wi-Fi signals, even 2.4 GHz, did not reach our HDD recorder that could be wired with a 15 m LAN cable (actual distance would be about 12m), which I found disappointing for the price. Other than that, the initial setup was easy and its accompanying software was useful.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Its alright, but ph service is a joke.
I've found this modem quite good. The performance seems to be OK, but to be honest it doesn't get overly worked in my home. The design is a little "Darth Vader-ish" but truth be told, they pretty much get hidden away most of the time.
The worst thing is when it started to drop out one day - apparently it was in need of a software update. Great, but you can only do this via a cable (which is hard to find some old laptop with an ethernet connection in this wireless world these days) bust anyway I persisted for this performance enhancing upgra...Read more
de. What Netgear actually needs to desperately upgrade is its help centre. What a joke that is. Firstly, the poor people are barely audible when you can actually get hold of them, and then they're hard to understand. You wait for about 15-30mins to get hold of someone and if you get disconnected, don't even hope to get back to the same technician or get a call back. For $300 you actually expect more. My advice - get a modem from Aldi if you can, any worries, take it straight back!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great dual band router.
I reluctantly went out an updated my modem router after 7 years. except for the hefty price i am impressed with the ease of use and adjustable settings.
Great router Netgear. Happy purchase. I hope it lives as long as my other router, which was not a netgear.
But Have had netgear previously years ago.

Works flawlessly for me so far....
I am always amazed when I read so many negative reviews for a product I own, my experience with this modem router has been positive. It was easy to install and has held a steady adsl 2+ connection from dodo ever since I installed it. In my home we have 3 ipads, 2 ps3's, 2 computers (ethernet) and 2 iphones and this unit has handled all of our WiFi requirements throughout the entire house without any issues. My connection speed to the internet has increased (not by huge amounts but it is a definite constant increase on my previous connection spe...Read more
ed) and our home WiFi is solid and fast enough for multiple users. That has been my experience so far with this modem router combination, I am surprised to read so many negative comments because that has not been my experience, so unless I am going to be in for some nasty surprise in the future I can't complain in any way about this unit. I like it so far and it works as advertised for me, there are many things which can go wrong with "the internet" and how we connect to it, maybe many of the problems people are experiencing are due to some other factors and not necessarily this modem router, just sayin.Similar opinion? Happy
Bought this about 3 months ago. Have had no problems with it, and most importantly, there have been no drop outs. Our previous modem continued to drop out and became very frustrating. Only down side at this stage, is there is only and I repeat only 3 months phone assistance. If you have any further queries, either you purchase additional assistance which is an additional cost to you. Or else, use online service

Useless Firmware
I bought this router 3 months ago and I have to say it was very easy to setup. It did not improve my speed in anyway but was a lot more reliable than the Dynalink I got from my provider. The problem started when I updated the firmware and I suddenly could not connect to the 5Ghz band. I rolled back to see if I could fix the problem but the only thing it did was disable wifi internet access. I started using my old router which I now believe is a lot better than this.
Very easy setup
firmware upgrades are useless

Bad Firmware (Security Feature)
Firmware does not allow restricting a service (port forwarding) to multiple WAN servers. This was a feature available in previous Netgear model DGN2200 (more than 2 yrs old) and given that this is a newer model expected it to work the same or even better.
Spent two hours on a support call and had to argue with the consultant for it to be escalated to level 2 support and then found out from the level 2 consultant that other customers experienced this issue and they still haven't resolved this issue.
Easy for setup and good for basic users
Bad firmware and would not recommend for advanced users

Disappointed
Bought this as a replacement for my other modem/router which quit after just 15 months.......brand starts with an N too.
Set up was easy, but surprisingly the speed was lower than the previous modem/router, a lot in fact. Not possible to watch streaming video with it. Did a speed test to confirm it.tried to improve it with software update, but no difference.
Signal on our 2nd. floor was ok, but with the low speed it was useless. Ended up selling it second hand for half price.
Easy to set up, great software
slow speed

I bought netgear d6200 wifi dsl modem router last november 2015. Today 5th of dec 2016 the wi fi blue light is not working. Cannot connect to wi fi anymore... i have reset it already but still the same. What should i do? How long is the warranty of this product?

The only thing l can suggest you might do, is to do a firmware update. This may fix the problem but it might also destroy your modem. If its the latter, you might then have a case to argue as your warranty will most likely have expired. Its not much help l know but its what l would do.
Under Australian consumer law you have rights to have the good/product repaired, replaced, or refunded for default you are protected. The time frame is termed as reasonable, so I am no expert, but depending where you bought it, you can return it since the warranties are extended under Australian law it depends on how long the item is expected to last certainly more than 13 months. I am not a lawyer just read up on ACL and go back into the store they cannot refuse you, also check your state's laws too. Better to go to the store if feasible, also you can update the firmware, but if after that you still are having issues better go to the store.
