On ADSL but prepare to be go on NBN
This supports ADSL2+ but at the same time if you house is suddenly upgrade to NBN, this can still be used. But only works on FTTP (fiber to the premise, where the NBN modem with the optical cable is inside your house). For those that don't know, there is a Ethernet cable that needs to connects from the DVI port of the NBN modem to the port behind the router and the phone cable is no longer necessary.
Like its predecessors netgear genie is easier to deal with and setup is quite straight forward if you grew up using netgear products. My opinion ...Read more

Does the job
on the package it says high range signal but this is not a case. The signals could not reach to end of my house which is not a bog house so I end up to buy a signal amplifier. however it is stable and never drops so if you have a small house it is good

Not what was expected.
I bought this router as a quick fix to a temporarily broken router yet the functions provided was not suitable for my needs. The Qos services of this modem is not to the standards of modern modems and needs an update. The speeds of packets transfer was also not adequate for its price.

good product that i need.
The product is the best Wi-Fi booster available, with its signature design and useful features like the USB 3.0 port. It also gives me five gigabit Ethernet ports that allow it to function as a bridge. It's not as compact as some Wi-Fi extenders, but it has more to offer in terms of performance. it has good dual band performance and offers me plenty of management settings that i need. thank you very much to read my review.

Decent router
This router is decent but I have a few criticisms that I would make. First of all, this router failed on me so I had to send it back for a replacement but then the replacement failed on me after a few months as well. Netgear was kind enough to send me another replacement which has been working properly for almost a year now so I'm hoping everything should be good now. Also, the Netgear genie website which helps users configure various settings for the router could be redesigned to be more intuitive and user-friendly.

Great router for the price
On paper the Netgear D6200 is a sensible option: wireless AC and a modem all-in-one for an affordable price. But on closer inspection the modem doesn’t support fibre and the AC1200 wireless implementation is weak. 802.11n 5GHz performance is a highlight, but over 2.4GHz it is woeful. Looks and ease of use are also somewhat mediocre making for a product which is old before its time. Better options out there.

Works like a brick
What a waste of money. I have called the helpline and spent over an hour connected via cable on my laptop. Won't even recognise my ISP password to log in. This big is the biggest piece of junk. Don't waste your money buying this product. It may be ok if you're an IT guru but for the average person it is useless.

Same as other report: "Frustrating intermittent wifi".
Annoyed with frequent need to close computer and router and re-start. Using USB flash drive worked once, but not this morning. Web page so far unhelpful. Printed my 'Welcome' email, but realise I probably should have saved it as an email : links embedded (I think). 2 year guarantee, same as Telstra TGateway which latter expired very soon after the guarantee.

Great unit at a decent price.
I've bought 2 of these now. One for my parents and one for myself. I've found it to be a great unit. Connects to all my devices easily and gives decent speeds. I don't think the range is amazing but for our apartment it's been absolutely perfect. I would definitely buy another in the future if required.

Frustrating intermittent wifi
Performed well for a while, then progressively had more and more wifi connection issues. Yes.... have done all the usual stuff, like checking for other sources of interference, changing wifi channels, Firmware Updates, etc etc. Signal strength is OK, but still has issues. I'm just hanging off replacing it until the NBN comes along in the next few months.

Great until tried to update firmware
This was a great unit until l was given the option to update the firmware. As soon as l did, the unit froze and there was nothing l could do to bring it back. Turning it off and on didn't work. Factory reset didn't work so it is dead. A complete waste of money. How Netgear can sell such an inferior product is beyond me. It's not fit for purpose. Don't buy it.

Netgear redeemed themselves somewhat by swapping the unit for a new one, so obviously this is a common problem. The lesson learned though, can be applied to all technology: google it before you do any updates or try to change anything.

Two cans and a bit of string would provide a better signal.
Bought this on the fourth- it's absolutely diabolical I am sitting 3-5 meteres away and I get intermittent 1-3 bars out of 5. To say it's sporadic is generous. It was bought from JB Hi Fi and will be going back for a refund this week - unacceptabel for $178 that is should be so poor. I should have known better, but to be honest selection was similarly poor and I was told many years ago that never buy a modem without antenna which made sense then, but did I listen hell no, I bought it anyway. High expectations meet poor outcome. As Molly says Do Yourself A Favour and DONT buy this!

Downloaded firmware update after setup and that killed it
Bought this modem/router with high hopes after recommendation from JB Hifi techie. Started out OK and came up with a firmware upgrade, which I naturally selected and it then become a dead box. No more Netgear. I also had a Netgear range extender that died a similar death. Appalling. Never again.

Netgear make poor wireless modems!
The wireless on this modem is terrible. Just terrible. The wired aspect of it works great, I have not had a single problem with wired to my Mac, PS4, AppleTV. I have had a lot of issues with the modem just not working/connecting though. It worked well for the first 5-6 months then has needed more and more power cycling. The wireless is so bad, it simply disappears from existence. In fact, I have almost 100% reliability with my $40 extender point that I bought from Kogan, I would be lost without it! Personally, for the price I originally paid I expected a MUCH better modem. I should have read the reviews though.

Wireless fails after 12 months
Easy set up,wired is good but wireless only works at 3m after 12 months. I bought 2 from office works at the same time, one for the office and the other for home and almost at the same time wireless lost it strength to 3m.
Reset to factory, updated firmware but still the same. Only solution is to add a wireless booster.

Wish i could give 0 stars, it doesn't even desverve that
I paid above $360 for this "super advanced state of the art" modem.
It is nothing but problems. Wifi networks drop out, Are not connectable
Routers lights turn off and stop working
The netgear phone support was so rude and wanted me to pay $300
For another 90 days of support. She kept repeating "i am not authorised to go any further with you and will be disconnecting this call"
DO NOT BUY NETGEAR! IF YOU ARE STUCK WITH A DUD LIKE ME THEY *DO NOT CARE*
$360 down the drain. Router is brand new too.
Shame on netgear.
I do not have a proof of purchase, however I will upload pictures of the router doing what I have explained and hope it is enough to verify my review of the modem.

Qos, keyword blocking, 5 GHz range all useless.
Qos is next to useless, 5 GHz range very poor, keyword blocking does not work consistently. The only good thing about this router is it is stable and hasn't crashed. Netgear really needs to fix its firmware. I would never have bought this if i had known how useless Netgear Qos was. Linksys next time.

I bought netgear d6200 wifi dsl modem router last november 2015. Today 5th of dec 2016 the wi fi blue light is not working. Cannot connect to wi fi anymore... i have reset it already but still the same. What should i do? How long is the warranty of this product?

The only thing l can suggest you might do, is to do a firmware update. This may fix the problem but it might also destroy your modem. If its the latter, you might then have a case to argue as your warranty will most likely have expired. Its not much help l know but its what l would do.
Under Australian consumer law you have rights to have the good/product repaired, replaced, or refunded for default you are protected. The time frame is termed as reasonable, so I am no expert, but depending where you bought it, you can return it since the warranties are extended under Australian law it depends on how long the item is expected to last certainly more than 13 months. I am not a lawyer just read up on ACL and go back into the store they cannot refuse you, also check your state's laws too. Better to go to the store if feasible, also you can update the firmware, but if after that you still are having issues better go to the store.

After 11 weeks asking Telstra for assistance, which was unhelpful, I bit the bullet and signed for Telstra Platinum Service ($15/month for minimum 12 months). That Service quickly advised me to buy a ... Read more
WiFi USB, which I did (it's NetGear costing $69), and after installing, have had uninterrupted interrnet connectivity. It seems probable that others have had WiFi rather than modem/router failure and that the Netgear AC1200 D6200 was neither their nor my problem. Telstra should have been able to tell me this instead of providing some other suggestions, among which were that my Telstra T-Gateway modem/router had ceased functioning.
