Buy another router!
Constant wifi drop out. Randomly won’t take password. Reset at times will make it impossible to get back on wifi connection. Avoid this unit at any cost. Not worth it.

Can't handle anything above basic functions
Setting up the router took a few tried before it connected, but once it did, it maintained a stable connection okay. The downside is that I run a number of NAS devices that need a static IP on the network - this router has the option to assign IPs to known devices, but after building the table, it just decides NOT to work and assigns random IPs without any relation to the table I just built. After a lot of googling I find that this is a common problem and I will be quickly replacing it with something that actually works.

Sub par device at a premium price
Started out as a pretty reliable modem and slowly degenerated from there over the period of 3 years. It started initially booting certain devices, mainly Apple, off of wifi. A firmware upgrade fixed this. Then came the lockups. At first it would need power cycling once a week. Present day we're rebooting it once a day. Many other owners have the same unresolved issue. What a terrible product. Avoid.

Lightning fast internet
It's quite expensive. But well worth it. This router paired with my NBN service provides lightning fast internet to all my devices with a huge coverage throughout my house.
Haven't experienced a single dropout while using it.
Easy set-up too.
Definitely recommend.

Worst router ever purchased. Do not support this company
Worked fine for the first 6 months, then the disconnections and intermittent failures start occurring. Conveniently netgear only gives you 90 days after purchase support otherwise they want to charge you even if it's their product at fault. Read only comments and forums and you'll see it's a very common issue and everyone hates this thing. Given up using this as my main router and just use it as an access point. Even that, it drops off once a week and I need to reset it to keep it afloat. Piece of crap and never buying Netgear again.

Minor issues at first. Major issues over time.
At first this was a big jump in performance from our old D-Link router, but it's never been without minor quibbles - the need for a reboot every week or two, and highly variable wifi signal reliability.
Now, a year on it seems clear that with every new firmware update - something else breaks. Mid 2022 there was a firmware version that just plain broke the router requiring a factory settings reset. I confirmed this by downloading it both automatically and manually checking it three times in total and saw mention of others having similar proble...Read more

Don't waste for money
Does not work in Australia with Optus NBN - I have spent hours on the phone to Netgear and Optus just a big waste of time. No-one can solve the problem and JB HIFI deserve a boot up the bum for selling and recommending this product.

Great Router
This is definitely a great buy! Had issues with our previous router and as soon as i set this one up (which was very easy btw) all the issues disappeared. Generally we have 2 people connected for gaming and 1 other person streaming and about 5 other devices always conneted and have had no issues at all.

Worst modem I have ever purchased. Don't waste your money!
I brought a NetGear Night Hawk modem as they seemed to be well reviewed online and I wanted a modem that would work well for streaming. This modem worked well for the first six months and then it constantly didn't work:
-Dropped out constantly
-All my devices were not working well when connected
-I was unable to even back up my phone as the connection was so poor
-It was nearly impossible to reset the modem. So watch out if you move house!
-There is absolutely no support...In fact I felt like I was being scammed when I had to pay an external co...Read more

Continual drop outs
Have to reboot router several times a day due to router disconnecting devices and then not allowing them to reconnect. Only solution is to restart router. Tried all support solutions offered (netgear) not an Internet provider problem. Netgear community support has pages of similar complaints without anyone getting a resolution to this problem which netgear appears to be aware of. Wifi works well when it works but continual dropouts have me going off to buy another router. Will never buy netgear again.

Be careful with firmware update
I have used this product for 2 years. It has been great but have to be careful when updating the firmware even from their own Nighthawk phone app.
That was an evening when I was watching Netflix and browsing through the Nighthawk app. An update pops up and I was thinking it should be alright to update from its own App. BUT, it was not the case. The whole thing just crash and the router could not restart and nothing can be done to make it work. I have tried reset the router but it could not. I was just 2 months out of the warranty. Really DISAPPOINTING!

Can't Fault the Netgear AC1900 D7000 Nighthawk
I purchased the Netgear AC1900 D7000 Nighthawk in October 2018. I have an NBN HFC connection and the D7000 works excellent on this broadband configuration. I haven't experienced any issue at all, handles data throughput excellently and the wireless range has exceeded my expectations. I'm a very happy customer.

Internet keep dropping when more people connect
I bought this instead of buying a cheap modem/router thinking the more you spend, better quality and power you get. But I was wrong. Internet was working just fine, until last Saturday when I had around 15 people over. When most of them got connected to the WiFi, it started dropping off. I was really ashamed. Not a great experience

Unit replaced twice already, third is a lemon also NETGEAR SUPPORT AWFUL
I would like to point out I have had this modem router replaced twice already.
My internet has begun to drop out intermittently but often, my ISP narrowed it down to the Nighthawk.
Thought bugger it, I'll get rid of this lemon of a router, replaced it with the ISP supplied Netcomm modem router, and haven't had a drop out since.
I decided to use the Nighthawk in bridged mode so I could still used the wifi side of it.
That now stuffs up all the time.
If power is dropped off to the unit, then the SSIDs don't come back until I log into the router a...Read more

I have decent experience with modems and routers and right out of the box it has had many issues even after factory resetting and updating, I haven't even customised settings how I want because this unit cant even work normally!

Terrible Product
I bought this product in May and have had issues from day 1. Constantly drops out and freezes up as stated in other reviews. The firmware updates didn’t really help and actually made the situation worse as of yesterday 10/8/19 netgear advised the product is actually faulty and I need to post it back to them and they will post out a refurbished product. I’m buying a second hand one on market place for $50 to use whilst I wait for the refurbished one to arrive. I think I’ll try and take it back to JB Hifi and see if I can get a store credit to get a different make/model.
In summary don’t buy this product - too many issues.

Freezes up
The modem/router will freeze up every couple of days which disconnects everything connected to it, to rectify this I have to turn off and on again quite an annoyance. Also it gets Really hot, however setup through the genie was very quick and easy.

Worst customer support
Netgear the worst company. I called to ask for the set up guide for the internet and the only thing they wanted to do is to sell me their technical support membership for over $130 a year. They are no help and I will never use them every again and will tell every person I meet not to deal with such a bad company. Now we cant set up the internet and got no help. Worst customer support.

You may need new or updated (software) drivers in your devices that you want to connect via WiFi.
Usually if the device that you want to connect via WiFi has the WiFi facility built in, it will pick up the signal and all you have to do is use the password that comes with the Modem or NTU (NTU is a digital both ends modem) to pair the Modem - NTU signal to it.
I hope this makes sense. If you have more problems you could go to the shop you bought the Nighthawk from or ask for help from a local computer shop person.
Get your money back - I have had two units replaced under warranty and now the third unit has problems - right now I have no 2.4Ghz wireless and only 5Ghz works.... there have been many complaints about this unit. My 2nd unit lasted 6 months until the ethernet and wireless completely stopped working. I run a home business so I can't afford to keep sending back faulty units (at my expense I might add).... so for me it's goodbye Netgear and hello Asus.
