Organika Hair
Wouldn't go anywhere else
I've been going to Organika Elwood for years, since it first opened. I'd had a few bad experiences at other salons with bad colours, unflattering haircuts and snobby, arrogant and very expensive hairdressers. I was looking for a more pleasant experience and I was keen on natural dyes since my first pregnancy. I've loved every visit there, my hair colour is often complimented upon and it's always what I ask for. All the hairdressers are friendly, the dyes are beautiful, the haircuts are great, and the attention to hospitality is perfect. In ...
Read moremost places I've found the hair washing and (if your lucky) head massage is rushed but at Organika it's calm with a clear focus on a good experience. Good coffee, chocolates, champagne if you're so inclined, probiotic tonics, all on beautiful dishes. The only criticism is the cost is not clear until you pay, but then I've never been to a hairdresser where this was not the case. Cost is middle of the range in my experience.

Best hairdressing experience I’ve ever had
Mikaela was a delight from woe to go. She instinctively knew what she needed to do to achieve what I was after and thought outside the box to fix my hair. I have brunette hair naturally and had blonde foils and my hair was in poor condition from my previous hair colouring at another salon and from lockdown....it was a mess and really affected my confidence. I showed Mikaela pictures of what I was looking to achieve, and she ran me through each of the options to achieve it. She was very open and pragmatic about what we could achieve, keep me lau...
Read moreghing the whole time- just the overall experience was pretty bloody fantastic with the rest of the staff there, the crystal treatment, that oil treatment, and just the friendliness and warmth of the staff. Will definitely be back and I found my new hairdresser in Mikaela- thank you so much. Ps the colour was a dark blonde, with light brown tint, with warm tones. Exactly what I was after. Very happy.- Verified
Breathtakingly Bad
I went to have my highlights touched up a while back now, and stated clearly that I liked my existing colour and just wanted it refreshed and extended to the hairline. Ten minutes later, the colourist was still twisting my words into vague phrases and ignoring the basic instructions. She then refused my request to see colour charts for clarification, claiming that colour is too specialised to convey through charts. - Um, NO. This salon simply refuses to do what has always worked. I was then presented with a series of irrelevant photos for refer...
Read moreence and felt so bewildered that the manager was called in to make an executive decision. Ninety minutes later, when I saw the results I was astounded. The colorist had completely blotted out my old highlights, and the new colour was so dull and thinly distributed it looked like I'd been peed on by a goat and left to dry in the sun. When I politely expressed my disbelief I was invited back for 'correction' the following day. When I attended, I was again refused a colour chart, and the whole mess was drenched in a copper tint that lasted about two washes. ... But it's all salutary, I guess. I now do my own highlights with a colour I order online– which is cheaper, easier, and yields far better results.- 9 reviews

Organika Hair - Colouring run & overcharged
Organika salon in Elwood (Melbourne, Victoria, Australia). Had my hair coloured a burgundy colour. The colour ran for 2 weeks, staining my pillow and towels, despite washing my hair several times.
Went again to re-touch my roots, with a brown colour (not the burgundy). Was quoted $145 on the phone including wash/blowdry/cut. After 2 hours, mostly waiting, I was charged $297! Was told the wash/blow/cut wasn’t included! Looked on their website. $145 regrowth colour and $115 for cut/wash/blow. Overcharged by $97 due to misquote!

Read moreem, they offered $33 refund. It should be $37 refund ($145 + $115 = $260, $297 - $260 = $37). Lady told me it’s $115 for the cut & then changed her mind to $117. When queried about the $2 extra, she said it’s for “the homeless people because they are a sustainable salon.” Didn’t make sense, but didn’t want to argue any further. Not happy as I had a budget in mind and wasn’t able to make an informed decision and felt ripped off, with a ‘smile.’ It’s a pity as I had been before at another time just for the cuts, and the hairdressers are generally friendly and I liked that they (allegedly) use less chemicals in their products. Unfortunately, the last 2 times had put me off.
