Handy, light duty device.
I don't own any palm trees, however all my neighbours do, and the fronds are continually landing in my yard. I used to throw them over the fence for them to deal with, but I gather they have enough green waste to bother with so I bought this cheap unit. I also have some Gardenia's and Lilly Pilly's, and the small branch thickness is perfect for this unit. I was busy feeding the hungry loud machine for about 4 hours, and only had 2 pieces of wood (branch knots) that wouldn't feed into the mouth. All branches were still green, being cut the day previous. The huge amount of green waste ripped down to three full wheelbarrow loads of fine mulch, which is now scattered across our huge vegetable gardens. What better incentive for your plants to grow than being surrounded by the mangled corpses of your deceased relatives!? I have run about 50 palm fronds through the shredder with successful results too, HOWEVER, these fronds blunten the blades really quickly! It seems like the extra fibres make the blades heat up, and thus altering the temper of the cutting edge of the steel. Wear good gloves and hearing protection at a minimum. The branches occasionally violently flick around as you are holding them, and a splinter under the nail is not fun. When shredding dry palm fronds, you may want a dust mask also as they are messy. How do I attach bag to shredder

I feel that unless the bag was session, it would not be up to the task. Some of the pieces that come out would easily pierce plastic bags. Also, you would effectively gave to tie around the exit snout, as there are no hook points. I just out the entire shredder into a wheel barrow, shred the branches and remove it when done for carting to the mound of mulch.
