Hi - I have one of these radios and the display information has died. Now all I get is a blank screen, the light works but there is no display showing at all. It works really well apart from that! Is there anything I can do to bring the information back?

Hi Sue O,

My only suggestion would be to turn it off at the power point then on.
There is also a Factory Reset function to reset the unit to factory default setting.

If that doesnt work try the manual. There may be something about it in there.

Thank you. I can't reset factory conditions without the display :( . I've tried switching off and on at the wall both when the radio is on and when it's off. I think there is a problem overall with the display because it deteriorates rapidly when it does show. There's nothing in the operating instruction sheet (presumably the 'manual') which mentions display problems, only about sound. Thanks for the link, I'll will send a query to their help page.

No AM.
It’s DAB and FM only.

As Tim has mentioned, AM band is not supported on this device, however, my favourite station (ABC Radio) has exclusively been AM for many years but recently added their broadcast to DAB+ which was the whole reason I bought this device. If you have a specific AM channel you like, might be worth seeing if they also broadcast in DAB or DAB+ now. I think most radio stations are doing this now.

There is no reason why you could not use rechargeable batteries, Howie. However, you would have to remove them from the radio and charge them in a charger which is separate from the radio.

Does this have an earphone plug input?

there is a space for a round plug to be inserted. don't know if that would work with an earphone. Don't be fooled by the "portable" wording. The battery life is only approx. 30 hours, which is useless if you are camping or even away for the weekend. I had to replace batteries every 2 weeks, after just using the radio for a couple of hours in the morning. Now I have it plugged into an outlet, meaning it is not portable. That's not convenient for me.

Yes it does have an earphone plug input. It's the common 3.5mm one and it works well.

Re the batteries. I had no intention of using it with batteries and have never done so. On DAB I have noticed that other radios I have had use batteries in a short time. My radio is permanently plugged into 240V in the kitchen. It is excellent at quickly and easily swapping between the 3 stations I usually listen to.

I assume you are in NSW so I can't guarantee it but mine picks up all AM / Digital / FM stations quite well
If in doubt ask the retailer if you can bring it back !
I previously purchased a Philips and that was useless then I exchanged it for a Sony and that was terrible also so I have to say the Panasonic would be your best bet
Good luck

My radio is breaking up - intermittent sound. What could the problem be?

Could be one of two things. It could be a fault (or loose wire) in the amplifier section where the sound is breaking up. On the other hand, it may be that you are right on the fringe of reception and it is the radio signal breaking up. Try moving the radio to different locations.

Digital radio transmissions can be sensitive to interference from other appliances plugged in nearby. Example: You might be listening to your digital radio (using batteries) close to a plugged in (but unused) electric kettle. It happens to all digital radios at times (not just Panasonic). Hope this helps
