Hi! If the oil is getting to temperatures above 100c for long periods of time we would suggest the customer consider using an oil cooler.

Just like to know what temperature the oil needs to reach to burn off fuel deposits and any condensation. The car has not run for a few years as it has been restored. I’ve got the engine running and I am going to get a new radiator and thermostat.

10 Tenths Racing 10W-40 (100% Pao & Ester)

i have read that new direct injection engines may have problems with oil vapour contamination on intake valves from PCV blowby. Comments have been made that oil with poorer NOACK evaporation losses ( oil volatility) may be worse than other oils.
What are the NEL of your Penrite 0 -40 10/10 oils ( 100% synthetic) and are they acceptable for direct injected and DI turbo engines. Some car manufacturers enforce use of certain oils by warranty demands .
Any comments?

10 Tenths Racing 0W-20 (100% Pao & Ester)

Dear Penrite,
I am looking for an oil for my 2011 Mazda3 2.0L manual.
I drive for fuel economy & constantly get 8.2 L/100km on 91RON, suburban driving.
I change my oil every 5000km, & prefer the low-viscosity.
What oil would you suggest...Racing 0 ?
Thanks

Hi abc, The specification from Mazda for his vehicle is an SJ/SL/SM grade motor oil at 5W-30, 10W-30, 5W-40, 10W-40, 10W-50, 20W-40 or 20W-50.
To get the best economy out of the vehicle we would suggest using Enviro+ GF-5 5W-30.
This is an ILSAC GF-5 grade oil that will get the best fuel economy and protection.

Penrite 10 Tenths Racing Oil

Hi team!

I have a 2007 Mazdaspeed 6 (Mazda 6 MPS) based in New Zealand and currently use HPR5 5w40. Engine has 170XXXkm's on it slight modification ECU stage 1 + 2nd CAT Delete + Straight through exhaust + short ram air intake. HPR5 has been used most of its life with me since 51XXXkm's, oil is now disappearing and power performance has dropped. Would this oil be ok to continue using or any penrite recommendations?

According to Penrite's Oil recommendation chart you can use 10W40 Fully synthetic which is slightly thicker, these numbers are only marginal increments. if you are losing oil and your power has dropped it sounds like your rings are on the way out, given the modifications you have outlined this engine has been driven hard and is now giving up the ghost, Mazda & Mitsubishi rings are not renown for long life.

Penrite Oil

Hi Fletcher, Yes, HPR 5 is still fine for this vehicle.
If you find it is consuming oil too quickly, then you can move to HPR 10 which has a higher operating temperature viscosity and should slow down consumption.

Whether your VY is a V6 or V8 it is starting to get "up there" in age. If you are changing your oil every 10,000 km's maximum or 12 months (Which ever comes first) your engine is fine. 0W40 is very thin and watery, it is designed for long service intervals while the vehicle is still under warranty, being thin reduces the risk of "Sludging" how protective it is for your engine is arguable, the friction protection properties have long since departed after 8,000 km's. A better oil for your vehicle would be 10W40 Racing Ten Tenths, check your Penrite recommendation chart on the web.

Penrite Oil
Penrite Oil T.Penrite Oil

Hi Normust, This is fine for this vehicle although maybe a little light at start up. If vehicle is running well, no need to change oil.
Other alternatives could be HPR 5 5W-40 or HPR 10 10W-50. If you have any other questions your welcome to call the Penrite Tech Team on 1300 736 748 or email [email protected]

Hi since this oil has very high zinc percentage, can I use it for my 2016 Mitsubishi Lancer, would this oil makes any damage to the converter?

2 answers
Jimbob
Jimbob

No. Higher Zinc is better for your engines bottom end. Reduced friction, longer lasting. Zinc has been removed from modern oils for the enviroment, not in the interest of your engine. Same As with low number oils, e:g 0W30 which has the viscosity of water, Car manufacturers are now claiming 15,000kms between oil change??? The thinner oil can extend that long without "Sludging" but it is not very good for your engine. Car manufacturers want you to get through your warranty period and then buy something else, not keep your car running sweet for 10+ years.

Penrite Oil
Penrite Oil T.Penrite Oil

Hi Chi, This oil does have a very high zinc level to protect race engines that do not have Catalysts. We would suggest that either Premium Full Synthetic 0W-40 or HPR 5 would be better suited to a 2014 Lancer.

Penrite selector chart recommends 5W50 10 tenths racing oil for Porsche 911 Carrera 2 964 Speedster 3.6 Litre Engine (1989-1994). 20W50 seems extremely heavy for a "New" rebuilt engine. Although the viscosity in grades is not as huge as people think. 10W50 would probably be ideal. 10 Tenths racing oil uses New Pao ester oils so it is perfect for all cars. Go to Penrite oils website and shoot them a line on feed back questions, they are always very good.

Hi Mike, Yes this can be used in your car, has the engine been run in yet?

Can I use it in a Jap 4b speedway engine, running on methanol. note: engine does not have any oil rings and is a constant loss oil system ( oil is passed through motor to ground.

The Jap motorcycle engine is designed to be used with Castor based oils. So the 10/tenths synthetic oils are not suitable.
Castor based oils leave a wax layer still providing lubrication even when majority of the oil has been disposed. Try Castrol R 40, Newton R, Morris MLR 40, or Millers CB40.
Another is Silkolene R40 Classic. google Jap Engines 2 stroke & 4 stroke maintanence.
