Excellent and suits my needs well
Very comfortable seats (front).
Quiet on most roads, some bitumen surfaces gives increased tyre noise, but never intrusive and overbearing.
Plenty leg room for 6'2" bloke.
Easy for wife (5') to drive.
Economical and yet small motor delivers plenty punch.
First ever auto and have been impressed by this transmission.
Boot is very roomy.
Nice touches are auto wipers, lights.
Reversing sensors are excellent. But should have been fitted as standard to front.
Annoyingly the indicators on left side and conflicts with my other vehicle so often put wipers on.

So many things go wrong with the Peugeot 308
It is not much fun driving a car while waiting for the next thing to go wrong. Inside looks lovely and spacious and the seven seat function is clever but the materials the interior is made out of are not durable. Plastics scratch. Bits break and fall of. Like the sun visors. The panoramic roof has an electric sun blind which is held in position by two flimsy plastic hooks which easily break. You can't buy the hooks. You have to buy the whole blind. arbon your engine every 10,000 kilometres. There goes another $1000. The turbo will develop an oil leak. There goes another $1000. The engine has a chain timing belt but the chain stretches. Another $1000. And so it goes on. These cars look modern and drive well but they are poorly engineered. Did I mention how much I hate the indicator on the left side? Peugeot support is poor in Australia. I would not touch another Peugeot with a barge pole. Mine had done 60,000 kms when I sold it. I've gone back to Japanese.Similar opinion? Great little car- very reliable!
We purchased our Peugeot in 2012. It was a four year old 2008 model. 2.0 litre Diesel. We chose the Diesel, as a back up to our work vehicle, so that we could still tow a trailer if our ute was getting service or not working. As we have had many problems with our BT50 ute that we bought ( see other review ) we are glad we chose the Diesel, as we ended up using this quite a bit for work as well over the last 3 years. buying French, but ironically, this has been one of the most reliable cars we have ever owned, and way better quality that the BT50 lemon that we just got rid of. The dealer ( John Hughes ) offered us a 3 year warranty when we bought, which has been used just once in the 3 years we have owned it. It was to repair a fault in the ECU in the engine. Other than that, we have just had it serviced, and 1 new set of tyres. The fuel economy is fantastic, even around town. It tows our work trailer no problem, so great as a back up work vehicle. There is quite a few nice features we like, like the reversing sensors, see me home headlights and rain-sensing wipers. It also has the knee airbag for the driver. But as this is an earlier model, we have no reversing camera, sat nav or bluetooth, but I believe the newer models have these functions. Also the glove box is tiny, and the front cup holders very small ( probably designed for French Expresso cups! ) Overall though, we are happy to keep the car for a few more years yet, as it just keeps going, never missing a beat! I would have no hesitation recommending the Diesel engine, hardly any turbo lag, lots of power, and very frugal. Around town, or on the highway, this is a great little car. Looks good on paper, but...
Purchased 308 XSE Turbo auto wagon (petrol) manufactured Nov 2009 brand new in Jan 2010. The main attractions to the car were its temporary 7-seat option, it not being a SUV and I'd previously (and painlessly) owned a 207 GTI.

rience... Physically the car is great. It was the right size for our small family (2 adults + 2 kids < 8), it has flexible seating configuration and great safety features. And, aside from the poorly fitting 16 inch wheel/tyre combo, I personally think the car looks great from most angles. Technically, however, the car has been a nightmare. As with others in this thread, the car had frequent visits to Pug Service Centres for warranty repairs. Key items attended to within the 3 year warranty period were a timing belt / cam shaft replacement, 2 full sets of discs and pads, Anti-Pollution warnings and other various dashboard messages that needed clearing along with door issues caused by (somehow) "over-extending the doors" when opening which causes a loud clicking sound during the process of closing them. In addition, and I can't stress this enough, it has a super-mega-epically-cruddy 4 speed auto which I believe literally has a mind of its own (why oh why don't you change to 4th until 70kph?). It’s also very thirsty – averaging 11.0 – 12.5 L/100 klms mostly urban Sydney driving, just FYI. She was good for my social life though, I got to meet a tow truck driver, [Name removed] and Trivett service technicians, Peugeot Customer Service in head office and was literally on a first name basis with the fantastic Customer Service Manager @ Trivett in Alexandria (don't think they service Pugs anymore though) and more recently [Name removed] from Frenchtech Automotive @ Forestville - gem of a guy who knows his Pugs so well and is reasonably priced - "no CRAP" as they say. Earlier this month “[Name removed]” (as I like to fondly refer to it) and I parted ways as she was traded in on another Make of vehicle, but I wish all current and future owners good fortune. No regrets owning this one
I purchased my 2009 XSE HDI 2.0 7 seater touring second hand from a dealer. It had 2 months left on the warranty and came with most of the extras so I didn't have to deal with delivery issues and confused orders. Having never bought a car from a dealer before I assumed the arrogance went with the territory.

So Far, So Very Good!
At 145,000klms this car has been superb with no issues to date. I bought the car as a demo with about 4500Klms on the clock.
Only downside is that it rides a lot harder than previous Pugs I have owned.
I used the dealer for servicing whilst under warranty but now use a private mechanic

The car itself was fine, the problem was with servicing
If you are contemplating buying this car check out their servicing customer focus. I found that I was left waiting long periods and had to return for a 15 minute job (then a 2 hour drive there and back).
If you want the car serviced in a reasonable time or stay while it is serviced and not wait long periods:
How long will the service take?
What time do I have to drop the car off to get the service done in a time frame resembling that period? In my case it was 7.30am.
They do not check and rotate tyres so replacements came very early.
I found they didn't really care about the customer and their situation at all, and after a complaint this was even reflected by head office.

Love, love, love my 2012 Peugeot 308 HDI
I've had my 2012 Peugeot 308 2.0L Turbo Diesel for 8 months now having purchased it with 110,000kms on the clock. Being 6ft tall, and looking for a small car, I couldn't have asked for a more perfect vehicle. The wide windscreen gives excellent visibility, the leather seats and sea warmer adds a sense of sophistication. The fuel efficiency is fantastic. Air con is great. a breeze. The rain sensing wipers are are spot on. Plenty of space in the boot. The only cons are that the lack of Bluetooth..... Even Ford and Holden have had Bluetooth standard since before 2010!! 2012 peugeot 308 turbo petrol active.
My car is 2 yrs old and at 25000kms started having problems with rotor discs and brake pads. The warranty book will tell you that they are not covered by warranty because they come under the wear and tear component of the vehicle. I did my homework and discovered that the vehicle is known to have a problem with rotors. I spoke to my dealer/service dept and they said that they may need to be shimmed. d not. So it took the car to a brake specialist and paid $55.00 for an inspection report on brakes and rotors as I was going to consumer affairs. He also didn't think there was a chance for me as they are not covered under warranty. I went to consumer affairs and Peugeot have replaced brakes and rotors and battery. I am a 55 yr old lady who has had her own business and I am familiar with consumer rights. When you spend $30,000 on a vehicle you have rights so don't be bullied into believing that what is printed is black and white. I have also had an issue with a Mazda 3 and because I was a woman I wouldn't understand about cars so I took them to consumer affairs and won that one also. So I can only say if it is under warranty fight if you think it's right. I have and I won. I am now looking at contacting the ACCC and putting forward a request to have recall done on the vehicle for brakes and rotors. April 18th 2015 Update: Since my last post my car had been running beautifully until a couple of weeks ago. At first I thought I was having trouble with my tyres because of the knocking feeling I was getting so I had tyres checked and they are fine. So I booked the car back in with the dealership for a check thinking it may be the spark plugs. The current problem is (this is the best way I can explain it) there is a build up of burnt off fuel around filters and manifold which is clogging things up. So they have to order a product in for the East the clean it out. I have to say that the service dept have been very good, no doubt they do not want another complaint to consumer affairs. I can only remind all that have any issues with your vehicle whilst under warranty eg: batteries, brakes, rotors extra do not accept the dealership telling you that it is not replaceable under warranty because it is under wear and tear. They do not want you to know to much about the rights we customers have under Australian consumer laws. If you are purchasing a new vehicle of around $30,000 you assume your vehicle will stand up to certain expectations. So I have had brakes and rotors replaced with new ones and a new battery and fuel pump which they realised was also faulty all under warranty. With this new problem arising I have had a very good discussion with the service dept expressing my disappointment with the on going problems that I am experiencing and what outcomes would be in place for this vehicle once warranty expires in August 2015. They have given me confidence that Peugeot will support me should there be other problems of similar which may arise as long as I continue to service my car with this dealership. First european car and first ever Peugeot sportium 2014 diesel
My wife always wanted a little car for her to run around. Both in our 50's she got her wish with brand new 2014 run out of superseded model 308 sportium diesel 6 speed auto. All I can say is that this vehicle does everything it is supposed to and does it very well. Drives like a big car, very comfortable and I am 190cm. Leather, instrumentation and driving all great, diesel economy and performance very happy with. Drove Focus, Mazda and Hyundai all boring and no oh yeah I want to drive this feeling...
Will see how it goes over the next 3-5 years... Have the locked in 5 year servicing and the 15.000km service interval also great.

Will NEVER buy another Peugeot
2009 308CC nothing but trouble since they day I bought it. I wish I had read these reviews before doing so. At 130,000km it is now on it's THIRD turbo charger. It was off road for 3 months in the first year of owning it. Problem after problem, and when things go wrong Australian mechanics as far as I can tell don't have a clue. I have a maintenance history about 10 pages long. If I wasn't locked into a 5 years lease, I would have dumped it long ago. As it is, this car will have cost me half as much again in repairs as the value of the car. DON'T BUY PEUGEOT - they look great, and drive nice, but when things go wrong, they go very wrong, and reading through this forum, that's pretty often...

Pug Bliss!
I purchased my 308 Sportium in August 2014 and this car has changed my driving experience forever.
I updated from a very faithful Mazda 2 and decided to by my first European vehicle. I considered the Renault Megane and Clio, Guiletta, Citroen and even the beautiful Mercedes A Class (which was on top of my list but too expensive). Reviews are right about the glove box being small, but there is so many other storage areas in the vehicle. Very handy when out and about for work. I have really made the right choice and look forward to enjoying the vehicle for the next 3-5 years. I have seen the new 2014 308 and it looks nothing like the 2013 model. 2010 Peugeot 308 petrol turbo
This was a great car when first got it. Then 12 months later it just stopped. Was transported to dealer and they could not find the problem. Got the car back and it drove OK for several months. Then it stopped again. It was transported back to dealer and they found the head was warped. Apparently some of these were faulty. The warped head caused the solenoid controlling valve timing to jam. Been OK since, but now looks like it has a rear main oil seal leaking. Problem is it is out of warranty, 3.5 years old but only done 35,000km.

My 2008 308 touring turbo petrol car is the worst car I have ever had. In less than 110k km there have been around $30000 spent on warranty with the car in for repair on an almost monthly basis with me incapable of remembering g she it last worked. Most worrying is that Peugeot Australia thinks this is ok as if somehow driving a car voids warranty. It's been to four different repairers with no sign of the problems going going away. Have had nothing but problems with my 308 this year. Dealership and Peugeot Aust are both very unhelpful and keep passing the buck. Have had it towed back 3 times this year and have to fight and argue each time to get it "fixed" only to have it broken down again. Now it is out of warranty and am still fighting. Absolutely useless!!! At only 3 years old, it should not have problems and if it does one would expect someone would be able to diagnose and fix it.

Like the car
My 308 is 13 months old. Like the interior, very comfy to drive, glove box very small, customer service good, management solving problems not so good. 1 month after servicing my car I received message from computer top-up cooling fluid. Call to customer service: l need to bring the car back, they will remove the faulty switch as it apparently happened so often in the 308 but is not going to be replaced, the container where the switch is is going to be blocked. To say that I am not impressed is an understatement, quoting Peugeot "this switch is not necessary" and is no longer available, my question to Peugeot is anything going to be left out of this car after 5 years?

Peugeot 308 HDI
Bought the Sportium back in 2011. It's excellent to drive and is well built. Servicing in Melbourne has been very good. The main issues are the brakes (pads replaced after 20000klms). Replaced them with non-factory brakes. Storage is also limited. Glove box is laughable.
If you can live with the minor issues it's a great small car with a larger interior and a hint of design flare.
Spacious interior for a small car. Low down torque of the diesel.
Brake wear. Storage.

Great car
Overall very pleased with this car. Its a 2011 base model without all the whistles and bells but does the job very well. It is fabulously fuel efficient, using around 6L per 100km all city driving. It drives really well.
Only a few niggles. The glove box is so small to be almost useless and the cup holders dont fit a water bottle, only a regular latte. There are no pouches on the back of the front seats which is lost storage. Its not a big wagon, so with two kids car seats in the back the dog cant fit between them (he's a whippet!).

air conditioning is the most disappointing aspect of the car, It really struggles to cool the car in the heat. The air oscillates between warm and cold when its on full blast, even when I turn the eco function off. The mechanics filled up the gas but it still happens. Very disappointed
I purchased a 2011 308 Turbo new and am extremely disappointed in it. Within a month it stopped unexpectedly and had to be towed. No one could find out what was wrong with it and the service centre seemed rather uninterested in solving the problem. They thought I should just bring it back if it happened again as if I have time to waste and they don't. I use this car for business so I needed it to be reliable, but more importantly, as a woman driving on her own, I selected this car and bought it new to protect myself from this kind of breakdown....Read more
Another breakdown occurred a few weeks ago and the car had to be towed again. Just the week before I had travelled on country roads for 800 kms and it ran unevenly on and off the whole time and created a very stressful trip because breaking down on country roads at night is so dangerous if you are female. I now don't trust this car and completely lack the peace of mind I should be able to enjoy with a new car. I would have made at least 5 calls to Peugeot roadside on various issues including once again breaking down because the battery needed replacing after only 2 years. Peugeot Assistance has been superb in response however which is more than I can say about the service centre I use. When I react to the problems I am having I see that they think I should just put up with it - **** happens! After the last breakdown I was angry enough to write a complaint letter to Peugeot Head Office. In essence they told me that the issues were quite minor and I didnt deserve the free service or extended warranty I requested. They very kindly offered to give my car another once over instead. Since I thought that was what they should have done already I was not impressed. So here I am warning others that this in my experience is not a reliable car, even though I quite like it in other ways. lem. I hope your service centre was more professional. However my main beef is with Peugeot itself and the attitude that my problems were minor and basically I should just stop whinging. I don't care what stops my car, big or small - I just care that it stops and has to be towed and no one gives me an explanation or shows concern for poor performance.Similar opinion? Ongoing Problems
For a 3 year old car I have had ongoing issues with oil leaks and electrical failures. In the past few weeks I wonder every time I get into the car whether it will start on not. I may have an "undiagnosed underlying electrical fault" is all Peugeot have told me to this point.

Well. Hi again. This is an update just hit 28000kms in peugot 308 sportium after 14 months and apart from the 560 fixed price service cost the pug is touch wood fuss free and running very well.
