Hardly use it as hard to thread and keeps snagging up.

published

I find it hard to thread and it constantly becomes unthreaded. The tension is hard to get right. I follow the suggestion in the guide but it never looks right. On the rare occasions when I do get it running it soon comes to a stop with a big tangled snag. So frustrating!

A great basic machine

published

I purchased this overlocker 12 months ago when my u-beaut electronic machine died. I needed a machine to get stuff done, and this machine does that. No nonsense, easy threading (I learned to manually thread overlockers over 20 years ago) and hardly any need to adjust tensions. Has a differential feed which is great for sewing knits and easily sews a rolled hem with minor changes. Even has decent led light but it could be brighter which is common for most machines. Only thing I would say is that it is a little noisy - very mechanical sounding compared to my higher priced failure. All in all, good value for money.

Purchased in December 2021 at Spotlight for A$399.00.

Not good

I have always had Pfaff sewing machines, however this is my first Pfaff overlocker, bought to replace a very well used old 3 thread overlocker about 2 years ago. The tension is constantly wrong. I have had it serviced twice and at great cost to try to get it right and it changes as I am sewing. The thread guides had to be changed at the first service and since then I have tried working it out myself via you tube vids but have now given up and gone back to my old 35 year old Singer. Not happy.

Fantastic!!

I can sew, but I'm not an expert, and I've found this overlocker to be easy to use, especially re-threading. It've found it simple to do many different styles of stitch, 3 or 4 thread, and rolled hems.
Easy to use!!

Pfaff Hobbylock 2.0 will not make thread chain. Knots & catches. Rethreaded several times, husband (mechanical/electrical/electronics engineer) also checked and threaded. Any ideas please?

I had so much trouble with this machine, have you got all 4 threads threaded? One of mine continually breaks so I tried using it as a 3 thread machine, but that doesn’t work. Have tried all types of thread but still the same problem, do I’ve just gone back to using my very old but reliable singer three thread. Sorry but no help to you. I’d be interested to know if anyone else has a suggestion.

could anyone tell me the specific problems with the Pfaff 2.0 Hobbylock as I am thinking of buying one but my experiences with buying machines at Spotlight have not been good

All overlockers seem to be feisty when it comes to thread tension. The Hobbylock 2.0 tensions seem to respond to adjustments of about half a notch, except for the right needle which needs large adjustments to have any visible effect. Also check the lower looper set screw for good clamping tightness.
I am not Australian and hope you will trust a South African's advice!
