I'm keen to get your air fryer based on recommendation of friends and also the product reviews. My concern is that it appears to be made from plastic and I would think that it must be toxic when heated ? Also I don't like using non stick coatings for health concerns either - is there a pan available that's not non stick ? Many thanks Mel

I also recently purchased the HD9643 airfryer but no user manual.I would like to know why the user manual
was not included in the purchase. Philips advise to download but I am not in the position to do so. I would prefer a user manual in place of the recipe booklet. Any help?

My current air fryer is 7 litres and can easily fit 3 good sized lamb chops laying flat in the basket. Is this air fryer big enough to do that?
2 answers
Philips S.Philips
Hi there. Thank you for your question. The capacity of the basket of the Airfryer XXL is 0.8 kg. Here you'll be able to find all its specifications: https://bit.ly/2PFlKzi. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact our customer support via Facebook or Twitter (@PhilipsCare). Kind regards, The Philips Australia Team.
Well doesn’t that equate to 800 mls. That seems awful small compared to the 7 litre air fryer I currently own. P.S. your website specs do not mention liters at all. It’s like you have tried to bluff people by steering away from the litre measurement gauge that all over air fryers are sold with.

I have just purchased an Airfryer but it is not cooking. Is the motor supposed to run continuously? Mine switched on for 3 secs and then switches off and after 30 mins at 180 my potatoes are still raw!

Hi there Monika,
fryer is supposed to run for as long as you set the timer. Sounds like it is faulty!
Philips S.Philips
Hey Monika, good that you've asked over here. It's definitely not supposed to stop working! The airflow should certainly continue during the cooking process. Seeing that you've just bought it, we would recommend to get in touch with the retailer you got the Airfryer from. However, if they can't help you further, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us through 1300 363 391 (AU), or on 0800 658 224 (NZ). We'll be happy to see what we can do for you.

Is there a “double rack” style accessory for this version, like there is for the premium versions?
3 answers
I don't think so. cavity is not deep enough for that.
Thanks. It's not the depth that's the problem, it's the width ….. and I've since googled and determined that there isn't an accessory for it. Dammit!! Thanks for answering though! :)
Philips S.Philips
Hi Keb, thanks for your question! We can see you've already got the answer somewhat. Just to add to it: this is not an accessory that is officially supports the HD9643/17 unfortunately.
If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask them. You could also connect with us through 1300 363 391 or through http://philips.com/support/.

I have done some investigation on the ‘taste the difference air roaster’ but wasn’t thrilled with the only two reviews I found. However I am very impressed by two things related to your product. One is the positive reviews and the other is that you reply to all reviews, questions etc. However the difference between your products and a few others is the size. It seems to me that you don’t have an air roaster that allows you to cook a roast meal or any meal really for a family of around 5 or 6 people. Which, if I have it right, is a shame given the apparent quality of your product. Please confirm or advise otherwise.
Thanks, Sandra

Our frier is for a couple grey nomads, suits us at home or staying in a caravan park .
Sure some times we think that we could have bought a larger one but this was the only one we saw
Thanks for your reply. I am still considering it for myself as the reviews are great - better than the others I have checked. And since posting the above question I have looked further and it appears that there are only one or two that can do things like roast chickens etc. Thanks again. Sandra.
Philips S.Philips
Hi there, Sandra!
Thank you for showing interest in our products. We advice you to take a look at our selection of Airfryers with the largest capacity on this comparison page: https://bit.ly/2k0uDWx. They have a maximum capacity of 1.4 kg, large enough to handle a whole chicken for example. We hope this information will help you decide which Airfryer suits you and your family best.

can I cook a small fresh chicken 1.592 kilo in the hd9643/17?
3 answers
Hi I would say you could fit a small chicken in basket. I personally cook chicken pieces, thighs, drumsticks and wings.
Philips S.Philips
Hi there. Thank you for reaching out to us. Please know that we do not advise you to exceed the maximum weight capacity of the basket, which for the model you mention is 0.8 kg. You can most definitely cook chicken in the Airfryer, but you might have to cut the chicken in half. Kind regards, The Philips Australia Team
Hi! thanks for your prompt reply. I did cook the chicken in the aifryer minus the legs and wings. It took 1 hour, I cooked two small potatoes (par boiled for 7 minutes) for the last 20 minutes. they came out lovely and brown and crispy and fluffy inside. The chicken skin also was very crispy, and the flesh was moist and tasty. I can't wait to try more
recipes.

I have just started experimenting with my new Philips TurboStar Digital Airfryer, however, as a first time user I find the lack of an instruction manual of some sort really frustrating. I'm not sure if there should have been one in the box but there wasn't. Can other users advise, please?
3 answers
Hi Tess I just took the example of Gabby off TVSN. She says to cook everything on 200 degrees. So eg frozen chips I do for 18 mins on 200. Nuggets and fish cocktails for 15 mins at 200.most frozen stuff takes me about 3 mins longer than fresh. Chicken snitty only takes 10 mins at 200 for 4. Just trial and error but you tube for times. There's also the Philips ap. cheers Carol
Philips S.Philips
Hi Tess, thanks for reaching out. Please follow this link for the instruction manual: https://www.download.p4c.philips.com/files/h/hd9643_17/hd9643_17_dfu_eng.pdf

I downloaded the manual off their website. I agree that it should be included in the box!
