Hi there, Merinda. Unfortunately there's not feature on the HD2178 that does this. The HD2137 might be the better choice for you, if you're into yoghurt-making. :)

Hope this helps!

Are the inner pots, at least the stainless steel one, dishwasher friendly? The user guide doesn't cover how to clean the inner pots, and I can't imagine hand cleaning the inner pots is going to be trivial.

Hi there, thanks for leaving your thoughts and questions on here. We do advise you to clean the interior with a damp cloth, it may get damaged when you put them in the dishwasher. Hope this information helps. If you have any more questions, please let us know.

May I suggest as an improvement for future products make the stainless steel pots as being dishwasher friendly. Cooking all sorts of foods, congee, meats, lentils which can get stuck to the pot surfaces, the stainless steel pot should be dishwasher friendly, and expecting people to hand wash or wipe the cooking pot with damp cloth is unreasonable!
Thent pot, which your product competes with, is indeed dishwasher friendly.

How can I cook brown rice in this machine? One of the key reasons I bought a multi-function cooker was to replace my rice cooker...but it's not possible to adjust the cook time for rice.

Hi Carolyn, great that you're trying out our All-In-One Cooker. When using the cooker in the 'rice cooking mode' it is in fact not possible to adjust the timer. This is only possible when you use the cooker in a different mode. Unfortunately this is the only solution we can offer you right now. Please let us know if you have any other questions regarding the cooker.

Hi, so what is the solution for cooking brown rice? As I mentioned previously, I bought this premium machine to replace my rice cooker. If there is not a method to cook brown rice, then this product has been mis-sold to me. Please either let me know how I can cook brown rice using this machine, or help me return it.

Philips
Philips S.Philips

Hi there, Carolyn.

What an option could be, is to use the 'manual'-mode. Here you can adjust the cooking time yourself, and it's one of the pressurized cooking modes, just like the 'rice'-mode. We're quite sure that with a bit of experimentation that you'll be able to fine tune your recipe.

Hi there!
Is it possible to cook multiple items in the cooker simultaneously using pot-in-pot. If yes, where can I get a smaller steel or non stick pot and stand to fit inside the regular pot? Thanks

Yes, you can do so using PIP method.
I got my stacker pots from either eBay or Amazon (have had them for some time now)
I cook smaller quantities of rice and use one of my stacker pots for this too.
Hope this helps, good luck :)

Yes you can multitask in the pot. as you Steam rice then put in a rack where you can steam a dish.

It is great that the cooker comes with 2 bowls but can you tell me when it is best to use the regular inner pot and when to use the stainless steel pot? I’d like to know for general use and also, specifically for cooking a slow roasted lamb shoulder. Thanks, Marg

Personal preference but I use the SS bowl as much as I can
I use it for incubating my yoghurt in, cooking anything with bones in it (prevent risk of scratching non stick coating in other bowl)
I’d use the SS bowl to cook lamb shoulder in
I use the non stick bowl for anything sticky - rice, desserts, cakes.
Hope this helps a little :)

Philips
Philips S.Philips

Hi Marg. Thank you for your question. It sounds like it has already been answered by Girlpower. :-) It is indeed a matter of personal preference, you can pick the pot based on the dish you're cooking. If it contains rather sticky ingredients or if the end result may stick to the pot, you can use the non stick pot. We hope that helps! Kind regards, The Philips Australia Team.

Hi Hetal,

Good question. We recommend only putting the two inner pots that come with the cooker inside the machine. Depending on the quality and material of the utensils, this can damage the cooker and the utensil itself. We hope this answers your question.

Hi Jules, thanks for your question! We'd like to look into this on your behalf, however we weren't sure to which accessory exactly you were referring. Could you tell us the model number of the accessory itself? This likely starts with 'CP' followed by digits, or 'HD' followed by digits. Yes, the Philips Premium model comes standard with two bowls - a non stick bowl plus a SS bowl.
I have this model and love it.
You can also purchase the SS bowl directly from Philips website for the earlier Viva and even the latest Deluxe AIO’s (verified by Philips)

Hi, I used this for the first time following a slow cooker recipe for Ragu Brisket. I put the slow cooker on the mode and left it on for 9 hours. When I opened it after 9 hours it had completely dried out the meat? There was liquid and stock still in there so I do not understand how this could happen? I expected the meat to be pulled apart with a fork in once touch. Is there any reason to this? I did use the saute function prior, and can think this may have then had the setting of the heat too high the whole time? Anyone have experience with the slow cooking mode? Low. Thanks

9 hour’s is long, if u using slow cook, u need to make sure the water or liquid is enough for 9 hrs slow cook, otherwise it will dry out and the meat might not cook well.

K Will

Thanks Cecilia, the funny thing is there was plenty of water in the pot after 9 hours. So that is why it is strange it was dry. I expected it to be all falling apart and stew like. We took it back and exchanged it for another same model. All seems to be working now. Havent tried the slow cooker yet but the pressure mode is now working when it wasnt before. Must have been a rare faulty machine.

Personally I’ve found browning it first either in the oven or frypan after rubbing the skin with oil/butter, salt and pepper, then pressure cooking and then crisping the skin in the oven is the only way it works properly. So I’m just cooking it in the oven now because it’s less work and the same amount of time. You can skip the initial browning step but then you also miss out on the flavour it adds while cooking.

Bone broth and homemade stock is the absolute best done on the pressure setting. My pea and ham soup used to take 3 days to make properly and now it only takes 3 hours.

Hello Philips pressure cooker users

Last Xmas, I ended up get the Premium all in one cooker from Philips above Breville with 2 main reasons; yogurt function and stainless steel pot. I have been experimenting of making yogurt and few pressure cooking recipes. The yogurt function is ok, I need to adapt couple methods into the mode of the cooker to get a better result. However, when I use the pressure mode, it seems to take long time to build up the pressure (15 min). For risotto, I find it takes about the same time as when I cook on the stove, but cooker only allows me to do other things while they are cooking in the pot. Otherwise, it not really a time saver. But my problem is that, last few times there were no pressurisation. I closed the valve to seal, however I could see the stream was escaping out through the little hole on floating valve. The floating valve pin did not float up to prevent the stream escaping outside. Any users encounter same problem? How do I rectify ?

1 answer
Carol

Same with regard to risotto and yoghurt. The pressure not building issue I’ve found I had to toggle the release lever a few times and it’s probably happening because it gets clogged between the lids. It’s such a pain to clean in there properly and I haven’t found anything in the instructions regarding how to pull the lid apart for proper cleaning.

Hi, I recently purchased the premium cooker and have trouble setting the timer in the sauté/sear high temp mode. The booklet says you can set from 2 mins to 2 hrs but it just jumps from one time to the other and nothing in between. Is this correct?? Also once it reaches its temp it switches to maintaining pressure in this mode, is this also normal, as it seems to not be maintaining the high temp so the meat can brown in batches.
As a first timer to this style of cooking I'm still feeling my way and not sure I'm doing things in the right manner. I love the meals I have tried so far but have found the instructions to be far from comprehensive for a beginner.

Don’t stress, I’ve found the same thing so I’m back to browning in batches in a pan then tossing it into the all in one. I’ll sear veg in the all in one at the same time though. I know, as a beginner as well I’ve found the book to be next to useless and trial and error is my only friend.

From memory to up the sear time, you hit the sear button then the plus button to increase it but I don’t find it very efficient.

Maggie
Maggie

In the beginning, I also had the same difficulty as you Susan, To rectify this movement, when the saute programme shows the two minutes, check to see which side is flashing, mine shows the hours on the left side. Hit the plus button again for the minutes to be displayed and see the number 2 flashing, again hit the plus button to extend the cooking time, until you have the minutes you think you will need. I take it up to ten minutes for browning diced meat and longer for a pot roast. Enjoy the machine, and the new experiences, that are on hand for you to have the most succulent dishes placed before you.
