Excellent Tyre
Having had a set of Pirelli Scorpions on my RAV4, the grip on and off road was excellent, combined with very good ride comfort. More to the point living in QLD time is spent on tarmac, dirt roads and at weekend on sand - the tyres coped well with all. Very quite too, which is what I wanted. The tyre shop suggested one size larger then was fitted to my RAV and what a transformation. I now have a Nissan Navara D40 and swapped the Goodyear's for a 'one size up' Pirelli Scorpion ATR fit all round. Again excellent on the Nissan, great ride, quiet an...Read more
d enough grip for my personal off-road needs (not extreme) - not saying they are the best, but just works for me and am yet to try a better all round tyre. But like most things choice is personal and everyone has their personal best. Quiet, Grip Well, Good Ride Comfort, Good Value Overall. A little Expensive, but you get what you pay for.2 comments
Have been up Noosa North shore ( at low tide) and also in some loose sand and have found them just fine. Most of my driving has been out west on unsealed roads and not a problem at all.

OK Tyre
Have 265/65R17's on a NT Pajero - I like everything about the tyres except the wear.
Towing a 2.3 tonne van with a ball weight of approx. 200 kg for about 50% of the time I'm going to be lucky to get 40,000kms !!
Have had all the necessary balancing, rotation and alignment stuff done - but still not a good result.
Good grip - both wet & dry, quiet and stable
Poor mileage, especially when heavily loaded

I've had 80,000 km from my set on a Jeep KJ Cherokee and they are still going. Great tyres. .

Very capable all surface tyre. Highly recommended.
I wanted a replacement tyre for my Dodge Nitro. The original Goodyear Eagle RSA tyres were great on road but I needed better off road grip when I was pulling the horse float in the paddock. I wanted a hybrid tyre that would work well in both situations, and I certainly didn't need a full-on 4WD block tread.
The Pirelli Scorpion ATR is proving to be a great choice. The grip I'm getting, even on wet grass, means I never get stuck, even with a fully loaded horse float. On road the grip still feels very good, although at first it made the stee...Read more
ring feel a bit loose, but I soon got used to that. The one enduring issue is that if I push hard through corners, the ESC activates. I didn't have the same issue when I pushed the Goodyears like that. It doesn't worry me, but it is a point of difference. I've only done 20,000 km so far so I can't say how long they will last, but the wear looks like only 25% worn so I'm expecting them to last well. Off road grip, good onroad grip Cornering grip triggering ESC.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Will not put anything else on my 120 Prado!
Truly amazing tyre!
For all of you who compare tyres based on mileage, think again. The true value of tyres is the safety - the situations it can get you out of. These Pirelli's can reduce the stopping distance from 100km/h by as much as 4 metres when compared to the likes of Coopers and Mickey T's. They also corner better and are significantly quieter. So unless you never drive on a bitumen public road, these are by far the safest tyre on the market right now. If you then take them off road, they perform in the top 3 of all disciplines (grav...Read more

Wow what a great tire.
I bought my Land Rover Discovery 2 in 2006 and changed tires right away. In that 6 years these tires have done 135,000 Kms and only now need replacing. in the same time I have had 2 punctures, the first was past the 100,000 Km mark. A friend of mine has a Disco on BGF ATR and he has gone through 2 sets and is looking at a third, and has done a little less mileage than me. Very quiet on the road with no lost of grip in the wet. Off road and on the beach never lost traction never had wheel spin.Cant buy this size tire in Australia any more, so I have had to order them from the States which as a bonus is saving me at least $300 so all is good.
Driven over 135,000 Kms, Quiet, Sure footed.

Solid
Brilliant Tyre. Fitted to my 2004 Triton Dual cab. As it is my work car I carry about 350 KG permanently in the back. I have only rotated them once and rarely check pressures. Basically I haven't looked after them. Despite my laziness I have got 85000km out of these tyres. The front need replacing while the rear still have a bit of life. These tyres are quiet on the road and handle both wet and dry with ease. Off road they are no muddy, but perform well beyond expectation. Previously I was running Maxis all terrain pattern and desert duellers. I would back these tyres over the others any time.
Handling, wet performance, price

Quietly competent
We went on the Variety Club's 2010 4WD Explorer expedition, driving initially from Cairns to Sydney before hitting the backroads and forestry tracks of NSW and Victoria. The Pirelli Scorpions on our Disco 3 had already done 55,000km when we started and had at least one-third tread depth remaining. The tyres perform well in all conditions and even in deep mud or on steep gravel tracks there is no wheel spin or slippage. Part of the credit for that may lie with the Disco's clever traction control devices but the tyres gave the impression that t...Read more
hey were always there and quietly getting on with the business. Unfortunately, we lost two to hidden stakes and the only replacements available from Bob Jane in Woollongong were Geolanders, which have proven to be honest but unexciting. Noise level, grip, low wear rate. Expensive, but no more so than others in the limited 18" range.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Expensive But Well worth it.
I fitted a set of Scorpions to my Mitsi Challenger, which does 90% on road and 10% off. Ive run 50,000K so far and they are about 75% worn which is an exceptionally low wear rate, and I drive them fairly hard.
On road performance is excellent with outstanding stability in corners and under braking.(None of the tread squirm that I've noticed on other brands)
Off road has also been good (at least as good as other 4x4 tyres in soft and wet conditions and mud) although I have not tested them in extreme conditions or in soft sand.
Great tyre life, quiet on highway, excellent stability at speed, Good off road.
Expensive

Great tyre, virtually ignored by the majority of 4Wdrivers
I put the ATRs on my Prado from new, swapping out the stock dunlops. Don't ask me how they compared as I did only 100m on the Dunlops, just straight to the tyre shop.
The ATRs now have 80K on them, and are getting down a bit (maybe 5-10K before I need to replace them). They certainly gave me the super quiet-on road I wanted, (together with cruise control, they make long bitumen drives even relaxing). But the big suprise is how well they do off road. When newish, they pulled thru mud, a bit of a slither but kept going. No digging in on river cro...Read more

A very well thought out tyre
In recent weeks I have purchased a set of Pirelli ATR 285/75 R16's and must pass on that these tyres are practically noiseless regardless of road condition - steering is light and feels more direct, and breaking in wet, dry and gravel is exceptional to say the least. These tyres were not cheap costing over $400ea but if they last the distance and continue to perform the way they do I will most certainly be purchasing a 2nd set. Keep in mind that this is not a serious off road tyre, it performs best on road and very well in gravel or dry conditions. If you are like me, and do the majority of your driving on road, this is a very good performer for such a task.

Thers are well worth the money, but!
I have a Territory with high, stiff springs and these babies around the rims.
They have done 50,000km with only scuffing to the shoulders, due to spirted driving.
They must drag our camp trailer and go off road at every long weekend. they get pushed hard, bloody hard. Sand down to 12psi, mud and rocks 18-21psi, they go and go. suprise many people where our car can go
Magic on-road grip, better than standard tyres for this car.
With power applied in sand and mud driving, they really excel in cleaning their tread to find grip where its not po...Read more

Great all round 4x4 tyre
I am comming up to 80,000km's on these tyres and they still have tread! probably good for another 15000ks!
I am more than happy what k's i have received from these tyres, they have seen alot, Loveday, Flinders rangers - all tracks, Victoria coast, beach's etc and they have never let me down, previous was Yokohama which where great, but only lasted me 35,000k's.
They are quite, have tons of grip on road and off, including mud, I purchased them cause highly recomended for Sand driving, but i have proved these are good for so much more. I have b...Read more

Bad
My car is a 2005 100 series Landcruiser, Always handbook service including tyre rotation. Purchased new. You can do better for the money.
Tyres are quiet, no road noise. Handles well in the wet.
(no offroad driving at all, only highway use). I have had these tyres fitted twice, both times their wear was excessive. The 1st set lasted less than 40,000km and the second have only done 23,000km. I am replacing with another brand of tyres.
High cost & low km performance, These tyres are not worth it.

Don't blame the tyres. You are driving an inferior vehicle. Try a Land Rover LR3, and see the difference.
What do you suggest a coles as better

Excellent
I have now had three sets of new tyres on the same vehicle but this is the first time i have sprung for a top shelf tyre and to be quite honest they are going to be cheaper in the long run as the wear is fantastic but I do rotate the tyres every 5000km and pay particular attentiom to tyre pressues. So far we have 35000kms on these and they are less than half worn with even wear. All tyres are showing between 6.4 and 6.8mm tread depth left. So to pay more but get the extra wear makes them the same price as el cheapo's and then the higher performance and wet grip is like a free bonus. best regards pete
wet grip, ride quality, no road noise at all!! and half decent in the mud for an all terrain, wear,
zero so far

OK
I had a set of these tyres on my NM 2000 Pajero and got 40,000 kms mainly around town with some off road. I thought this wasn't too bad and when they needed replacing I got another set. I have done 12,000kms and they are almost at the wear indicators. When we spoke to Pirelli their rep was arrogant and blamed the wheel allignment. I had it checked and it was so close to perfect it wasn't funny. After heaps of back and forth Pirelli have now agreed that something isn't right so they are going to help me out with the next set! Problem is I'm not sure if I want another set now, left a funny taste in my mouth!
Good road noise levels and grip
Wear out too quickly
