Does sun princess still have happy hour?
4 answers
Hi Ness, Did you mean the Sea Princess? as this is ship we went on. If you did then no. They didn't advertise it and all of the bars we went to there was no sign of a happy hour, cheers Craig
Neither the Sun nor the Sea Princess have a happy hour anymore. Just another one of the pleasures they stopped
Thankyou I did mean sun princess shame is there a way to pay six back of beers before sailing and we’re you able to take a bottle of wine on ?

We have a hold until 14/11/19 on a Sun Princess cruise departing in October.
Our booking detail has in small print 'Queen Bed Will BE Against Wallbeds NO Convert IF Uppers Use'.
What does this mean?? Anyone know who can let me know before I have to pay. Thanks
2 answers
Sorry, have no idea what that one means!! Usually you can have the double/queen bed converted into two singles if required, but don't know what "Uppers" are
It means you must use the bed as a queen and not split it into two single beds if you happen to have a third person staying in the cabin. Ie: fine to stay as a queen or have it reconfigured into two separate beds if there's just two people, but if you need to accommodate a third person in the cabin in an upper bed (pull down from wall/ceiling), then you have no choice but to leave the main bed as a queen and snuggle with your cabin mate
**Just re-read - it might actually mean the other way around. Best just to give them a call and ask

Doing the 35 day Hawaii etc next year in Sun Princess. Is there still a happy hour?
1 answer
No happy on the Sun Princess anymore. Alcohol very expensive at $15 per glass of wine and the cheapest bottle was $55 - no Australian wine advertised on Alcohol menu at any of the bars and only one Aussie brand is available if requested. All other wines are either from Spain or Brazil I was told. Most Passengers on board for the Tasmania trip leaving Dec. 16 2018 were not happy with these prices.

Where do we buy our duty free on cruises?
2 answers
From our experience the so-called Duty Free was more expensive than buying in the normal places such as Aldi for liquor and Priceline etc for perfumes. The selection was not great either. Some of the ports (in Vanuatu) for example have cheap liquor stores if you can find out where they are although getting there could be a bit tricky! In summary it's probably easier not to bother on the cruise.
on the ship, will be delivered to your cabin on the last day

Can we buy duty free wine at the terminal in Singapore to take on board Sun Princess or is it better to purchase it before we fly to Singapore from Perth?

Can I buy beer at happy hour & take the extra drink back to my room on the sun princess?
2 answers
You can walk freely around the ship with alcohol purchased on board. For example, you can buy a bottle of wine at dinner, consume some, then take it to a show/Casino or you room later etc etc (just keep the cap). Beer would not be any different.
Have just come off our 6th sun princess cruise . Don't worry about the great wheelhouse happy hours they have FINISHED! All beers have increased massively in price $7 per pint ($4 at happy hour) to $12 since February 2018 ( they even try to substitute smaller glasses). All bar staff have been changed including some we have known 25 years who have left in disgust at "cut backs", increased work rates, and petty penny pinching. I'm a princess elite member who won't be travelling "Sun" anytime soon !

Has anyone taken there own say 6 bottles of wine on board sun princess as the wine list is limited and costly? I know you have to pay $15 corkage fee for each bottle after the one bottle allowed. But I think it might be worth it as you can pick your wine on sale prior to sailing.
2 answers
No sorry I didn't bother. I did take one bottle of champagne and didn't even open that so ended up taking it back home again! It would still work out cheaper in the end though, I agree.
Two bottles are allowed on board free, so you might as well take these (can only consume in stateroom). I took a further 6 bottles at $14 roughly each and with the $15 surcharge, paid around $29 each at destination. Don't forget the hassle too of getting them there, transport, waiting in the queue, processing the payment, getting them on the ship. I then found the wine started at $29 in the restaurant!! I purchased a $32 Californian Chardonnay 2016 for dinner one night. Really nice, in fact I preferred it more than my bottles. In hindsight, I would not bother next time. I also found the bottle spirits (buy through room service) very well priced, you might want to think about bringing on mixers (Just an idea - the orange juice served at lunchtime only is excellent and my wife would fill up a drinking bottle for mixing in the evening).

Hi can someone tell me do you have to pay 15.oo dollars tipping a day we are on the sun princess on 2018 from Germany's to Singapore?
1 answer
My experience is that you can ask at the pursers office to cancel your tipping. Do it on the first day, we always do this and pay tips directly.

I am looking to book either the Sun or the Sea Princess ship for a cruise next March. Anybody been on these ships recently and what your opinion please.?

Hi I have been on the Sea Princess for 24 nights around New Zealand and found it fine. I am told the sea princess is her twin. Some people say it is tired. I didn't. It depends what you are looking for. I recently travelled on the Diamond Princess and found them to be much the same
We did the 2016 World cruise on Sea Princess...it needed an upgrade..don't know if they have done it yet..BUT lots of things needed fixing..and modernised..they Princess need to spend some money on the ships that we Aussies are travelling on...cause there are other cruise lines that have better ships...
Hi, I was due to cruise on the Sun Princess last week. My friend and I got on the ship, she began to vomit. Nothing to do with the ship. She had a bowel obstruction, came on very quickly. I called the medical staff who answered immediately. They were wonderful, I cannot praise them enough. The ship looks a bit tired, but the cabins are clean and comfortable. I am hoping to sail on the Sun Princess again, soon.

Is it rough seas on Sun princess from Brisbane to PNG? WE are travelling in September.
2 answers
Hi thoroughly enjoy your trip as the weather is changeable but the Princess handles it beautifully, I have never experienced an issue with the weather whilst on board,
The weather and seas were calm...if it is rough...the stabilisers are put into operation, and it is a smooth Voyage.
Samantha Easked
We are due to sail on the Sun Princess in September and would like about the 'all inclusive photo package'. It is currently showing in our cruise personaliser pre-cruise price of $258.70 (AUD). We will be away for 11 nights. Has anyone bought a package before or just paid for photos as you go? What can we expect the photo prices to be? Thanks!
1 answer
On all princess cruises they will take your photo when you embark, and then on any celebration night at dinner, they are good photo's but if this is a bit pricey wait and look at the package they present to you and buy the ones that you want and will be part of your memories. We made sure that princess line did not charge us for the package before sailing as it will be hard to get a refund for something you didn't want so read the small print, before if you can or make the time before signing anything. Happy sailing ENJOY. mj5

We bought a coffee card on one cruise, didnt use it all and were allowed to finish using it on the next one a year later. It included both hot and cold specialty coffees, so yes to your question. Lots of lovely icy cold choices too. Well worth it.

I am sailing on a 10 day cruise on the Sun Princess in August 2017 and have purchased a drinks package but would like to know if there is a Happy Hour on this cruise? might cancel the drinks package.
Note I recently cruised on P & O and did not buy a beverage package and regrated it.

We Cruised on the Sea Princess just 6 Months ago, the best cruise I have even been on.Just couldn't fault it. They had a Happy hour there every evening, from,3pm to 4pm..Buy 1 drink, get the 2nd for a $1.. Just a bit of advice, when you order the first also order the second one as it can be very busy !! Enjoy your Cruise..
Just to add to that, you can also buy extra at Happy He and take it to the fridge in your room !!
I think it all depends on how much you like a drink, we took a bag of sodas with us onboard as it was handy having it in our cabin, they do have happy hours and thats good value but its like a stampede, as i don't drink much probably 1 drink a day but just figure out over 10days how much you would drink a day remember you can take 1 bottle of wine or champagne each onboard too, happy cruising
