Hi there. Recently our fan on our Regency Bellerive inbuilt wood heater has stopped working intermittently, then when it cools down as I shut it down, it will go again. Is this the start of the fan going kaput? By the way it’s still noisy even with all the padding we’ve put around it :)

After 3 years the fan noise all of a sudden is extremely load and clunky
Is there a warranty to replace the fan?

Hi David,
Warranty on the fan is 2 years, if you haven't had the heater serviced recently we'd recommend getting that done first just to ensure nothing is stuck in the fan. If you give us a call we'll be able to recommend a service agent close to you.

This may or may not be of help.... We purchased our fireplace in 2010 and I am unsure if they have fixed the design fault since then... (but reading your query, possibly not)

Beautiful to look at.... but if you read the reviews you will see that many have the same problem. We purchased the replacement fan as they recommended but like everyone else, you will probably find the noise (we call it the jet engine) will return. Recency know there is a problem with the design. Therefore they have created additional notes. Ask them for the "Re: Regency Berwick and Bellerive wood inbuilt heaters:- Fan housing and fascia installation" published in Dec 2014:

Here is the blurb:
This document is designed to help Dealers, Installers and Techs further understand how to avoid possible
vibrations caused by the fan in operation on HIGH / LOW, by installing the fascia and fan housing with
“padding” to help absorb and sounds / vibrations. When a Berwick / Bellerive are purchased, the fascia and fan housing are packaged separately from the firebox. So it is normal procedure to have to install them onto the firebox, in situ. Prior to doing this, is the stage when the padding can be done and then the install can continue. By “padding” we mean to use door rope seal with an adhesive side to it to stick to the panels / housing. This applies mainly to existing, inbuilt, brick fireplaces. ZC applications are less likely to vibrate, but please bear this information in mind, in any case. The door rope seal to use will be adhesive on one side and approximately 9-10mm wide.

Final notes: on the back page...
* The above method has proved very effective in overcoming vibrations caused mainly by the
imbalance of the brick fireplace and the fascia against the housing, when operating the fan.
* There will be a running change on all future productions in months to come, but this sheet has been
created to try and combat the units in the field, about to be installed.

they can stack it and pad it until the cows come home, it wont stop the fan drum from flogging out on the cheap rubber clip on the shaft that turns the thing, I fixed it myself being an engineer. I just asked the question to see if they would stand by the products they are happy to collect a lot of money for. I received the answer I thought I would ___________NO.

Hi, Ive been advised that buying a Regency Bellerive over the Blaze B820 would be better. Now I am seeing bad reviews about Regency Bellerive and very confused.

Can anyone please tell me if the Regency Bellerive has been fixed by now if there were issues? I would need to make a decision.
Thanks for your help!

Firstly I would remove the fan assembly (Two bolts) and give it a good clean-out. Once you refit the fan assembly I would get two small wedges and insert them at the bottom of the fan assembly to stop the fan assembly unit from moving. You could silicon the bottom of the fan assembly which I think would work, as you stop the fan assembly from moving but it would make it difficult to remove in the future, good luck Bob.

Tried to light fire tonight with dampner open full and dry kindling but ran out of oxygen, smoke started to escape past the door seal and filled the house with smoke. Such was it starved of oxygen the fire went right out very quickly. Has been installed in new house and run a couple times a week for about 2 months. 90% of the time has been run flat out. Any ideas what may be wrong?

Hi Lest,
First take a look at the video's on the Home Heating Association website, http://www.homeheat.com.au/how-to-videos 'how to light your wood heater', 'how to choose firewood' and 'wood heater maintenance'. If you're following all of those steps correctly and still experiencing issues give the Regency tech team a call and they'll be able to run through a number of possibilities with you.

The only reason you would get smoke out the door is if it can't get out the chimney I start the fire with the door ajar to let more air in and close once established

I agree with Chezsay. Keep the door slightly open whilst the fire gets going. Not only will a well ventilated fire allow the smoke to move faster but the fire will be more intense and establish faster. I Find it interesting that you have smoke coming out of the door when the door is shut, as I have never experienced this issue. I would be checking the door seal and ensuring the door lock is functioning correctly.

Funnily enough just today I was considering that when going well our old Saxon made the room too hot to sit in - when going well the Regency doesn't do the same. Sure, if we really stack it up it's fine, but it takes a lot more wood to achieve the same level of warmth.

And I've had no response from Regency using their online contact form.

Still going strong. We went the biggest box possible so we could load it up and burn all night. With good hardwood it will burn all night and the glass remains clean. I'm sure there are better/more efficient heaters on the market but for sub $4000 including custom install and flue I'm very happy. Please note that the installer explained that flue design eg bends and total length plays a big part in how well the fire performs and ease of cleaning.
