More heat from a box of matches

published

Actually reviewing its little brother the Berwick, in a nut shell, looks good - the reason I bought one was to replace my 25 year old Hartford series 80....decided to keep that and sold the Berwick unused, which I later installed for the client in a new build. Rated to heat 180 m2, it would struggle to heat a toilet, just does not perform, the fan is noisy and asthmatic, burns wood but produces virtually no heat, had a specialist to look at it, his words were, they either perform or don’t and nobody knows why!.....not recommended

Looks Good - but very loud vibrating fan - cannot hear the TV

published

It looks great but the vibration of the fan is so loud we cannot hear the TV and that is on the low setting. It seems that this is a manufacturing problem as many of the reviews report the same problem.

Purchased in August 2021 at Pivot Stove & Heating for A$2,000.00.

Regret buying this

published

Had my fireplace two years and the fan has been replaced twice and the air bar has bent almost in half. Fans were both the under warranty but the air bar is not. I contacted regency and I’m told it’s a maintenance issue. When I queried what maintenance I could do to prevent it occurring again I was told I can’t do anything to prevent it....

Heat output is poor and like other reviews this unit chews through the wood. After two years and I am already looking to offload it. First and last purchase from regency.

Hi Beau,
We'd like to look into this further, are you able to send us a private message with your name, contact number and the units serial number? We'll then look into your previous warranty claim and contact you to discuss.

Coonara 2100 replacement

been running the heater a month now and started to believe some of the bad reviews I wasn't getting much heat out of it even though it looked like it was burning OK just had to open it up and burn some wood as it can make a log last all night Yes the ash falling out the door and was an issue but can be managed (Coonara had an ashtray) I decided on this heater because of the amount of steel in the construction and are happy with the heat is stores. My only gripe is I would have liked a third fan speed (boost) but if one comes available it is easy to access the fan with only 2 bolts to remove. It looks good and the glass stays clean

Looks great but that's about it!!

published

Looks fantastic but that's where it ends. Doesn't heat any where near the area that they claim it does and frankly you only feel the heat when standing right in front of it. Burning the recommended Jarrah so not the wood. Still have to use central heating to warm the room up. Very disappointed and would never buy again. Don't waste your money people!

Absolutely Awesome

published

Installed the Regency Bellerive two months ago and am thoroughly impressed. The unit was installed into an existing fire place and looks absolutely amazing. I've found the heat output to be excellent, especially when the inbuilt fan is turned on. I've been burning all types of timbers without an issue, obviously some burn faster than others, just as some burn hotter than others. To be honest the unit was kind of out of my price range, but I bit the bullet and am so glad I did. Just my two cents worth :)

12 months old so far so good!

Heats 170sqm house in Tasmania no problem. We have to open windows when it is zero outside and 26 deg c inside. It does seem to be a little fussy with wet or semi green wood and the fan is a little noisy but nothing compared to a/c. love it!

After a top of 9 degrees today, and getting nowhere near the warmth we experienced with the old unit, we are looking at replacing the Bellerive with a cheaper freestanding unit.

Can't work out where the heat is going - up the chimney is my guess !

After 3 years the fan noise all of a sudden is extremely load and clunky
Is there a warranty to replace the fan?

Hi David,
Warranty on the fan is 2 years, if you haven't had the heater serviced recently we'd recommend getting that done first just to ensure nothing is stuck in the fan. If you give us a call we'll be able to recommend a service agent close to you.

This may or may not be of help.... We purchased our fireplace in 2010 and I am unsure if they have fixed the design fault since then... (but reading your query, possibly not)

Beautiful to look at.... but if you read the reviews you will see that many have the same problem. We purchased the replacement fan as they recommended but like everyone else, you will probably find the noise (we call it the jet engine) will return. Recency know there is a problem with the design. Therefore they have created additional notes. Ask them for the "Re: Regency Berwick and Bellerive wood inbuilt heaters:- Fan housing and fascia installation" published in Dec 2014:

Here is the blurb:
This document is designed to help Dealers, Installers and Techs further understand how to avoid possible
vibrations caused by the fan in operation on HIGH / LOW, by installing the fascia and fan housing with
“padding” to help absorb and sounds / vibrations. When a Berwick / Bellerive are purchased, the fascia and fan housing are packaged separately from the firebox. So it is normal procedure to have to install them onto the firebox, in situ. Prior to doing this, is the stage when the padding can be done and then the install can continue. By “padding” we mean to use door rope seal with an adhesive side to it to stick to the panels / housing. This applies mainly to existing, inbuilt, brick fireplaces. ZC applications are less likely to vibrate, but please bear this information in mind, in any case. The door rope seal to use will be adhesive on one side and approximately 9-10mm wide.

Final notes: on the back page...
* The above method has proved very effective in overcoming vibrations caused mainly by the
imbalance of the brick fireplace and the fascia against the housing, when operating the fan.
* There will be a running change on all future productions in months to come, but this sheet has been
created to try and combat the units in the field, about to be installed.

they can stack it and pad it until the cows come home, it wont stop the fan drum from flogging out on the cheap rubber clip on the shaft that turns the thing, I fixed it myself being an engineer. I just asked the question to see if they would stand by the products they are happy to collect a lot of money for. I received the answer I thought I would ___________NO.

Hi, Ive been advised that buying a Regency Bellerive over the Blaze B820 would be better. Now I am seeing bad reviews about Regency Bellerive and very confused.

Can anyone please tell me if the Regency Bellerive has been fixed by now if there were issues? I would need to make a decision.
Thanks for your help!

Firstly I would remove the fan assembly (Two bolts) and give it a good clean-out. Once you refit the fan assembly I would get two small wedges and insert them at the bottom of the fan assembly to stop the fan assembly unit from moving. You could silicon the bottom of the fan assembly which I think would work, as you stop the fan assembly from moving but it would make it difficult to remove in the future, good luck Bob.
