masport R5000 pedestal

published

We have had trouble from the start and it has continued. The wrong airflow insert with too small holes needed replacing, which we had to do ourselves. It has rusted inside and out. It still is hard to start and smokes with 6 yr old dry timber. Masport have refused to come out and see or do anything. We store cd's on the top over summer which is why the rust doesn't show as much, inside is rusty too.

Purchased in November 2021 at Mitre 10.

Winter is here thank goodness this heater WORKS so well

published

Love the size and efficiency of the heater, i can put in enough wood for the heater to last all night through, brilliant. Wish i had one in my garage too, maybe next job i commence. Just remember to clean the heater several times a week when in use, also clean chimmney out too at least twice a year.

Great product

We are very happy with our Masport R12000 wood heater. It is well designed and made. Nice big fire box, and the ash pan makes for easy cleaning. Another advantage is being able to cook on it.

5 Star Wood burning fireplace

Never had a fireplace before, and the NZ Masport fireplace certainly warms the home with no smokey smells. The fire is contained within the firebox with a sealed glass door. Would definitely recommend the Masport to anyone wanting to buy a wood burning fireplace.

Best Wood Heater On Market

Extremely efficient, easy to operate and clean, very large opening for wood top ups, great for cooking on top plate, fan use gives out a nice flow of air, especially to dry or air clothes, visitors have commented on unit and bought a similar unit.

We have a Masport R12000 HW Freestanding wood heater. Bought in 2016. We've had trouble right from day 1. Someone came to look at it and blamed the wood. Proven the wood was NOT the problem they then extended the flue. Every year we have issues and again trying to start the fire today there is smoke but no fire. This is extremely annoying & frustrating. The firebox fills with smoke & nothing happens except to then fill the house with smoke as well. It was a huge initial cost and still the heater doesn't work properly. We would never recommend a Masport heater to anyone. The problems just never seem to be overcome and getting the fire going is a marathon effort if it ever does. Gwen & Gary

That is exactly what has happened to us. We purchased this for a Charitable Trust, which makes their unco-operation even worse. When we collected another vent tube (fits into inside, under the roof) of the fire the air holes are much larger and makes it a lot better - but by then it had started to rust due to the constant smoke and moisture that continued to collect inside the firebox. I have their response in an email from the NZ manager which blames us which is ludicrous.
