Crap Airline Ever. Never Travel With Them - I Wish I Can Give Negative Rating As They Don't Des
One of the worst Airlines to travel with, it's better to travel with low class airline than Royal Brunei as they are trying to rip off the customers. When I first booked the flight the airline showed one flight to Bangkok with 17 hours layover and the airline promised to provide accommodation but now they added another flight after I booked with only 2 hours stopover. When I asked about accommodation details nearing my holiday, they denied accommodation as there is another good connectivity flight and asking me to pay for accommodation if I wan...Read more
t to stay in Brunei. I said I am not happy with the option so they told me an alternative to change the flight for which they will charge me the fare difference which is around $116.50. This is just so ridiculous as they are making customer suffer and it's purely money making business for them. So people who are thinking to book be aware they will try to squeeze money from your pocket after the booking and will leave you. Hope this helps all the users and the airlines suffer for their terrible customer service and booking options.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Business Class - best value for money airline
My wife and I have travelled multiple airlines to the UK. Royal Brunei is easily the best value business class offering good service, flat beds, new planes and relatively fast flight.
Negatives (for some) - no alcohol, 2 stops
Positives - Price is less than half of many airlines and less than Premier Economy with Qantas. Guaranteed flat bed all of the way on Dreamliner

Great flight
These guys are awesome! Cheap flights but I'm betting they are going to up their prices soon. No alcohol served on board, but u can buy alcohol before leaving duty free in Melbourne and drink on board. But cannot bring it into Brunei. Chairs are big and recline right back. Swear words are cut out in inflight entertainment. We flew from melbourne to dubai for $900 return. Will fly with them again. They do a prayer on the speakers before take off which I thought was nice. Their fleet is the new Dreamliner made by rolls Royce. The lights and windows dim in real time of where you departed to help with jet lag. I never write reviews, but really wanted to, cos I actually hate flying but this flight was great

Enjoyable flight
Travelled Melbourne to London and return in April 2015 in Economy. The crew were very pleasant and accommodating. Brunei stop over is a disappointment there is absolutely nothing there, no duty free of any significance, only one cafe really limited food and beverages. Pity the stop over in Dubai isn't longer so much more to do. Anyway for what the fares cost overall a good experience and arrived safely in London and home again. Thanks RB.

Left us for dead
When we wanted to come home from the Philippines a week early due to my wife's brother being murdered, we were told initially that no flights were available, then about 5 minutes later a flight did become available but at the cost of almost two return tickets. We were travelling with a 10 month old baby and funds were limited so this was out of the question. I contacted the Melbourne office of Royal Brunei and suddenly more flights became available (however later in the week) but at substantial fees also. Have flown with Royal Brunei four times in the past two years but never again.

What a nice way 2 fly.
I have traveled to London in June 2015 and back to Melbourne a month later.I was in business class on both trips and considering my mobility issues since suffering a stroke I needed considerable amount of assistance. I was very pleasantly surprised how well all of Royal Brunei staff have responded to all my needs. This was my first time with this airline but not the last
I look forward to traveling with this airline and the great staff again in the near future.

Flight ok, but side services are terrible, not recommended.
I had a terrible experience in terms of the side services. The online check-in offered about 4 options of seat allocation (it said the other 199 seats were already used, despite me checking-in an hour after opening) and all the options were in the middle, so I was very uncomfortable. However, I got changed 3 times of seat allocation in the Brunei stop over, because they needed to accommodate a family and a couple or something like that...so surprise...they did have available seats, just not for the non paying user. Shame on this airline, as Rya...Read more
nair and Easyjet offer a much better service in this front. Luggage policy is also ridiculous, some users say 20 kilos is good for the price, but I think for a long haul flight 20 kilos and only one hand luggage is not good at all. I tried buying extra kgs, but the prices are extravagant, I was better off buying a new one way ticket with a better airline. Again shame on Royal Brunei, Easyjet and Ryanair manage this better as well. Unfortunately I couldn't use my return ticket, so I tried to either cancel or change dates and it turned out there were some fare restrictions (which are not advertised in the website) and hidden costs so I had to loose the ticket and all the money, but I had to make sure to cancel it, because they also charge you a no-show up fee. I wouldn't recommend this airline to anyone, you think you're buying a cheap fare but for an extra 50 pounds you'll be able to fly with Etihad or any other airline that offers more flexibility.Similar opinion? Great until things go wrong
Royal Brunei offer great value for money if getting there on time is not your priority. The airline has twelve planes, which means if one plane can't fly there are many flights - and hundreds of passengers - affected. I flew with them from Melbourne to Dubai in late May 2015. See other reviews for plane comfort, food, entertainment etc.
On the return flight from Dubai my Brunei-Melbourne flight was delayed fifteen hours, which meant all passengers had to stay in Brunei overnight. I wasn't told this by Royal Brunei staff on check in, I was only...Read more

Amazing service and quality!
Flying with Royal Brunei was a dream. From having lounge access at all airports we visited to the wonderful hosts and hostesses on board who greeted you by name and really cared for you, I couldn't fault them. The quality and choice of meals was excellent and no one went hungry! Passenger next to me chooses to fly RB business class every six weeks to the UK and back instead of qantas premium economy because of the terrific value for money. The added bonus of lay flat beds, proper duvets and pillows meant you slept for a lot longer than usual on a long haul and felt more refreshed. The bigger bathroom with fresh flowers was a nice touch. I was sad to say goodbye to the lovely people running service and I will definitely fly again with them.

Bandai SerI Begawan Shame
Nothing against RBA, but customs at Brunei Int. Airport treated me awfully at 18:50, 19/12/2014; Corporal Hamdani smirking as his female assistant Uniform no. 3112 rudely spoke to me and then rudely took away a sealed duty free bottle of alcohol which had been allowed through all other customs. A disgusting display of service.
Returning through the same airport on 10/01/15 at 17:20, hopefully will avoid 'smirky and rudey'; don't know what happened to the sealed gift!

Mel/LHR & Alcohol on RBA
We chose RBA for MEL/LHR (Sept '14) as the flight was affordable. We booked with some trepidation as most people replied "Royal who?" when we told them. We need not have worried - an overall excellent experience! The Cabin Team were more that helpful, all requests were attended to politely and promptly. Meals were tasty and well presented. Seats comfortable, heaps of legroom, entertainment adequate. One small concern - the TV screens do not have position adjustment so that when the seat in front is reclined the angle can the problematic partic...Read more
ularly if you wear multi-focus or progressive lenses. RBA is "dry" - so when you leave MEL simply buy two separately bagged small duty free allocations - one to Brunei and the other to Dubai. You must keep the second bag sealed as the bag will be checked on leaving Brunei. Out of courtesy take all you empties and not finished alcohol, with you and throw away in the first bin you see. We didn't bother with alcohol on the return trip. Would we travel RBA again - absolutelySimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

will fly Brunei again
I flew to London from Melbourne return in June this year and was very impressed with Royal Brunei. I sat in economy class on the new Dreamliner aircraft and I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable it was. I had lots of legroom and did not feel cramped with people beside me. There are two stop overs, one in Brunei and one in Dubai. These stopovers are good because you can walk around and stretch a bit. On the return flight from London I stayed overnight in Brunei which was a good idea and not that expensive. The hotel I stayed at (Raddison...Read more
) let me have a late checkout at 6.00pm which was very nice of them as my flight did not leave until 8.00pm. The service on board the plane was excellent and the vegetarian food was good. Brunei airport is quite small and undergoing renovations at the moment. The facilities are not great particularly the female toilets, they were not that clean looking and the floor was always wet in the cubicles. On the return flight i just made sure I went on the plane so I did not have to use the toilets at Brunei. Hopefully the renovations will fix this problem. There is only one coffee shop at Brunei (except if you are with their club which has a separate area upstairs). The wi fi was not available when I was there. My flights were on time and the price is just unbeatable really. I think when Brunei airport has finished its upgrade it will make Royal Brunei a really competitive airline on that route because the price, aircraft and cabin crew are fantastic. I did notice a month later there was an Air Asia plane that over shot the run way at Brunei and this caused cancellations and delays for Royal Brunei passengers. I read a few angry reviews about Royal Brunei's lack of communication. That is a problem they also must sort out because they are better than that and it turns people off flying with them which is a pity. comfort, service and price. facilities at Brunei airport.Similar opinion? How not to do it
Business Class LHR to MEL 22 July, "operational issue" caused a 17 hour delay (although we haven't left yet). These things happen however in this case communication to passengers either didn't exist or was just poor.
4.30 boarding, 5.15 am departure, 7 am departure all passed without comment. By 8.30 passengers who had cabin baggage still on board we're let back on to get it. Unfortunately those who did not need to get back on were also directed back through security again to then join the queue for the hotel on concourse C. By the time we g...Read more
ot to the front, of course no more rooms, please go to concourse A hotel. Not Close is an understatement! Finally 10.30 am check in. 12.30 pm advised by hotel desk of planned 10.00 pm departure. No business class priorities to information, hotel rooms, queues etc. Calls to Melbourne and Dubai offices were either unanswered or "we cannot respond on remote matters". Email response still pending. No alternatives offered. Unfortunately our hunger had to be satisfied from our own pocket as the airline had not authorised the hotel to accept food or any other charges. Very frustrating and disappointing day. I hope that Royal Brunei can do better in the future as could not possibly recommend them based upon this experience.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Wonderful journey, but web-site and e-mails disappointing
I have flown business class with RBA 15 or more times, and have always been very happy with them. Disappointingly they no longer fly from Brisbane, so I now have to use Melbourne which involves an internal flight from Sunshine coast, plus an expensive overnight stop, so I am starting to look at other airlines.
The staff were all very friendly--especially on the Melbourne to Brunei leg. Pillows and quilts were clean and fresh, and the food was very enjoyable.
Regret the amenity packs are now so poor, as they used to be lovely. I don't like the sloping beds very much. Difficult to find out how many points I need for an upgrade/free ticket and e-mails are often unanswered.

Fantastic
I recently flew from Australia to London and back with Royal Brunei.
Initially i was hesitant due to what i read.
I want to debunk any untruths from my own experience with the airline.
They provided outstanding service with plenty of blankets, food, beverages, all in flight entertainment was plentiful and up to date.
The crew were friendly and helpful.
Toilets were always well stocked and clean.I have flown with many other carriers and believe I provide an unbiased opinion.
I definitely will fly with them again .
Sure, we had a few stop overs -but this gave you a chance to freshen up and stretch the legs.

Great value for money
Flew return to London. Could not fault airline. Bed ok for money spent. Better value than paying economy fares and having the airport hassles and queues Plus the uncomfortable smaller seating and toilet queues
Fantastic option if you don't want to pay exorbitant business class fares but want a higher level of comfort.
On time and comfortable great value for money

Economy Class (MEL-BSB)
I have flown with RBA from Melbourne to Bandar Seri Begawan a few times now, with a toddler.
The air hostess are general very helpful and accommodating when i travel with a young child.
Their fares are very affordable compare to other international airlines flying in similar region.
Their flights in and out of Melbourne have been good, although they are known to change their routes (They were flying in and out of Brisbane a few years ago then changed that route to Melbourne). When they first started in Melbourne, the flight times were terrible (landing late at night, hence no connecting flights to our destination).
Good fare, good time.
Would like more variety of food

Melbourne-Heathrow-Melbourne- Business Class
Flew business class Melbourne to London Heathrow, and return. Couldn't fault it. Business class lounges most welcome, attentive service, even a masseur at Ethiad lounge at Heathrow I would highly recomment the breakfast smoothie served onboard, Refreshing soft drinks, immediately after you're seated. Lovely hot wet towel, most welcome after the rigors of airport navigation. Menu was outstanding, with several courses, and choices. Cabin crew are very attentive maintained dress standards the entire flight always walking the cabin ready to please,...Read more
outstanding service. Whilst the seats are not totally lay flat, the soft pillow, and quite large duvet, make sleeping quite cosy. Brunei Airport business lounge, with shower facilities, made the stopover fairly pleasant. The only negative with the entire experience was Dubai airport transit throught to departure long, tedious Overhaul Royal Brunei was a lovely experience, having flown Emirates Business to the UK the comparisions are not that far apart to the extent that I have already re-booked to fly again this month Melbourne to Heathrow, Melbourne, would not hesitate recommend the service, attention received January 17th 2015 Update: Dreamliner Service Flew Royal Brunei Business class Melbourne to London, return twice this year. An exceptional experience having flown with the airline before I found the new Dreamliner experience a credit to the airline, from the minute I stepped on-board the welcome, service was second to none. Flight experience again was exceptional, from the new uniforms, to the in-flight entertainment, it was something special, the inflight meals comparable with the best, having flown Emirates this year. Service in the cabin was exceptional, the cabin crew walked the cabin the entire journey with nothing too much trouble, preparing food as an when you want,, making the bed up while I freshened myself up. The Lounge access in all airports again was very good. while the Ethiad lounge was refurbished the Cathy lounge in Heathrow was provided, again service was very good. For all those who miss the on board drinks there is always to option of buying duty free, but you will have to serve yourself, bear in mind you have to drink it on board!. Hello, I will be flying to Dubai (RBA) to do my internship at UAEU. My friend and I have different fare type (booking class), so is it possible for us to seat together when we both check in together?
1 answer
Upon check in they will usually oblige and let u seat together. All depends how busy the flight will be for the sector. Good luck!

hello
If I take alcohol on board can I drink it on board? And will ant of it be confiscated in a stopover in Brunei - I'm going to London.
Also, How much alcohol can be taken in check-in luggage please?
1 answer
Firstly, u cannot get through the gates before boarding. Your bags are checked by border control and if u succeed then air crew could confiscate your alcohol i guess it's a mark of respect.

I have not selected a seat for my wife.....Do i have to do this or will she just get allocated one.
