Exceptional Mesh Wi-Fi Solution - It Just Works!
I have a rather large house and a single Wi-Fi router in the middle of the house just didn't cut it, so I have had to go to multiple Access Points (AP's). Before this, I used the Google Wi-Fi mesh, which worked OK but had their limitations. After that, I tried the Telstra Wi-Fi Mesh system (it's terrible by the way), and finally I have solved all of my Wi-Fi issues with the Samsung SmarThings Wifi.
You can configure it as a single (wired) hub which will connect wirelessly to other hubs (up to 32!) to extend the Wi-Fi signal. If you have ethern...Read more
et cables already wired into your house, you can use a 'wired backhaul' to improve reliability and speed, of course you can do it all wirelessly if you want to. If you want to get a network signal to a detached building, you can go from one hub to another hub wirelessly, and then output to ethernet - expanding your wired network over Wi-Fi. The best part of a 'Mesh Wi-Fi' is that there is only one Wi-Fi SSID (the name of the network). As you move around the house, your device is switching between the hub with the strongest connection, without you having to do it manually. Unlike the Google Wi-Fi which waited for your device to lose connection to one hub before it looked for another hub, the SmarThings Wifi actively moves your devices from one hub to the next, all without any user input. SmarThings is happy to live its life behind whichever router / modem / NBN / satellite internet connection that you happen to have - it doesn't insist on being the DHCP server (like Google WiFi). There is no requirement to change ANY settings in your existing infrastructure, just plug it in and turn it on. The best part is that the Wi-Fi part of these devices is just an 'add-on' to the rest of the capabilities. It can do Wi-Fi / bluetooth / Z-Wave / Zigbee for unlimited Smart Home connectivity - lights / outlets / Google Home / Amazon Alexa. It also has dual 2.4 GHz / 5 GHz Wi-Fi frequencies for improved throughput, but still maintains connectivity for older devices. This is easily the best Wi-Fi Mesh solution that I have come across - I wouldn't recommend anything elsePurchased in December 2021 at JB Hi-Fi Online Store for A$199.00.
