I used to use the wide plate GHD, however I bought the slim plate SAS so I can do curls. It honestly doesn't take any longer.

I personally didn't like the wider plate because I couldn't curl my hair with it and the plates get very hot so you cant really hold outside of the plates. It did straighten my thick hair very quickly though so if thats your main purpose then I would recommenend :)

I have ringlet curls, much like what Nicole Kidman had in the earlier years of her career. I have used many hair straighteners and most of the time, my hair begins to curl in 10 minutes. I just wanted to see how it works for another natural curly haired girl and how long the straightness lasts? :)

SAS T.SAS

Hi Serbear,

Thanks for your question about our SAS straighteners. The plates we use on our straightener are designed to help eliminate curls/frizz in your hair to allow a nice straight and silky finish. We generally recommend using it about 210 degrees if your hair is curly, but you can adjust this to what is suited for your hair. It's hard to say how long the style will last on your hair, but i myself do have similar hair to what you have described and most straighteners didn't allow my hair to stay straight, but i can honestly say that my hair stays straight all day :)

We do also offer a 7 day money back guarantee, this allows you to test it out and see if its suited for you risk free.

If you have any further questions, please let us know.

Hi, I am currently looking at getting a new straightener. I am using a remington pearl at the moment and I find my hand getting sore afterwards. This never happened with my GHD. How much does the SAS hair straightener weigh and is the hinges very tight; causing your hand to tire?

SAS T.SAS

Hi Kate,

Thanks for your interest in our SAS straighteners. Our straighteners are very light weight and are much lighter compared to most straightener on the market, which will make it a lot easier for your hand. The hinges are not very tight and you will find its quite easy to use and shouldn't put much strain on your hands. All of our straighteners do come with a 7 day trial so you can test it out and see if its suited for you risk free :)

If you have any further questions please let us know.

Hi Oct,

Thanks for your question, that bottom edge is more of a square finish, but this does not stop you from curling :) Our floating plates allow you to curl with ease. We do also offer a 7 day trial so you can test it out and see if its suited for you :)

Hi SAS Hair,
If you could get back to me ASAP that would be good, but I recently bought your hair straightener got it delivered Yesterday (Wednesday 15th June) I'm not sure if mine got damaged in the mail or is faulty, but after locking it once to a temperature of 180, I wanted to make it higher and I can't get the lock out and I have swiped my hand down plenty of times and it won't recognise my finger that now its its getting frustrating. Would I be able to get in contact about either returning/exchanging. As Its brand new and I haven't done anything and the touch screen is not working but the actual heat/straightener seems fine.

Thanks Georgia

I reckon it would. My hair is pretty dry (though not thick) and it works great. I have to put a little bit of extra effort into the ends (and I mean a little) to make sure they are smooth.

Hi Loli,

Thanks for your interest in our SAS straighteners. With dry and damaged hair we would recommend using a Argan Oil or Heat Protectant spray to add some extra protection for your hair. We do also have a in hair treatment which helps dry and damaged hair which is available on our website.

Our straightener plates are designed to be more gentle on your hair compared to other types of straighteners. You are always more than welcome to try our straightener and see if its suited for you as we do have a 7 day money back guarantee :)

Hi, In the photos on this review site, the black diamond & pink pearl look like they have a rounded edge & the professional ones seem flatter. I couldn't find the rounded ones on your website, are they even available or are the photos on here misleading? Thanks

SAS T.SAS

Hi Linny,

Thanks for your interest in our SAS straighteners. The pink pearl and black diamond is our old model and we have since upgraded to the professional range. The black diamond and pink curl did not have floating plates which would make it difficult to curl, but our new professional range does.

I do apologise for the photos, we can't delete these on product review once they have been added.

Hi Srijana,

Thanks for your question, we have had lots of customers with similar hair types and have had great feedback. Our hair straightener plates are designed to help eliminate frizz, and for thick long hair we recommend using on a higher temperature between 200-230 degrees. All of our models are the same and just vary in colour. The wide plate model is specifically designed to straighten hair only, where the standard size is able to also curl :)

You are more than welcome to try our products as we offer a 7 day money back guarantee so you can test it out and see if its suited for you.

Hi, I've always used GHDs but the latest ones haven't received glowing reviews. I'm considering a SASS as the reviews are fantastic but I wondered how they work in the USA as their voltage is different. One of the things I liked about the GHD is that it would automatically convert for use in each country. As I have family over there and travel there as often as I can, I would love to be able to bring it with me.

Thank you so much for your help.

Hi, I recently bought the wide plate SAS hair straightener and I am really pleased with it. However I always set it at 232 degrees, but sometimes while I am straightening my hair the screen (Changes in colour from white to blue) and automatically the temperatures starts decreasing. To stop this I then have to unlock the screen (By swiping down) and then it once again starts to increase to 232 and then turns white once it has done so.

I was wondering why it does this? Because I do not leave it unattended for 20-30min (So I dont think it is the automatic shut off feature) ?

Any help would be great.
Thanks, Sammie.

SAS T.SAS

Hi Sammie,

Thanks for your question. Our hair straighteners have a safety feature that after 2 minutes of no activity it decreases the temperature. And once you use the hair straightener again it will automatically increase back to the set temperature. We have added this feature due to the large amounts of customers accidentally leaving the hair straightener on when not using it.

Hope this helps :)

Hi - toying between the standard SAS straightener and the wide plate straightener. There doesn't appear to be any reviews on the wide plate so wanted to see what the difference was between the 2 models?

1 answer

SAS T.SAS

Hi There,

Thanks for your interest in our SAS straighteners. There are a few reviews online about the Wide model hair straightener. The main difference between the two is the wide model allows you to straighten larger portions of you hair at once, although i would not recommend the wide model for curling. If you are after straightening and curling, i would suggest going for a standard size plate as this will allow you to curl.

I have fine, frizzy, long hair & had my hair straightened at my local boutique 4 days ago (which is still straight!) & love this look for me, but I'm not so fond of the static in my hair after I got home. I don't have a straightener & my hairdresser suggested i buy the straightener they use (don't know the brand) as it does a really quick job with no damage to the hair and was only $260.

I'm tempted as i've seen how good it works but thought I'd do a little research first. So am wondering if anyone has static trouble with the SAS straightener?(I'm hoping to avoid using products/chemicals to prevent static as my hairdresser didn't use any products at all which i was really pleased about).

Also wondering about damage to my hair with regular use as I'm trying to grow my hair even longer. I've seen others promote hair healing elements to minimise hair damage so am just wondering if anyone has been using the SAS regularly over a long time and how that's affected the condition of your hair?

My daughter has never had a problem with static, but you should always use a heat protection spray or oil as all straighteners eventually damage your hair

Hi Bell, sorry for the delayed reply! I have not had any issues with static hair, not with the SAS or any other straighteners though. I would still recommend using a heat protection spray as you don't know what long term effects by using extreme heat on your hair could do. I've only had my SAS straightener for a short time so have only used it about 6 times and still love it.

Hey! I dropped my BabyBliss and am now in the market for the best out there. I've been considering a GHD, but am apprehensive about the auto temp feature. Despite having fine-ish curls, I like doing more hair at 450 degrees, so not as to kill the body. With naturally big curly hair, I feel odd with stick straight tresses, and usually go for a lot of body and some wave. One of my favorite features of my previous straightener was that the plates wrapped slightly around the edge of the appliance on one side. It made getting close to the scalp around the face a breeze, though it was potentially dangerous! Can you curl with this straightener? I've never heard of SAS and just stumbled across the site, but am really impressed by the reviews. Also, where can one find this brand in the United States? I tried the SAS website, but they don't ship over here.

With the SAS straightener you can certainly curl as we have floating plates which makes it easier to curl with.
SAS is an Australian brand, we have not yet taken to the the US market, but hope to later on.

I have really thick coarse hair, it's only a little wavy and just goes "boofy" when it dries and goes everywhere if that makes sense ? This straightener does great - I make sure I spray heat protection stuff in my hair and it comes up silky smooth and shiny! I can't find a difference in results between the sas and a Ghd (the sas isn't as ritzy to look at as Ghd ur ur works just as good for a third of the price)

I got the wide plate so it doesn't curl as well. I also lack technique. I can make very loose curls. I haven't tried ghd wide plates before so I am not sure. Also don't use the highest temperature. I think I might have burnt my hair. Lol I am now using it at 180~190.
