Ignore the trolls. This seed works fast!
Not sure what other people are doing with their seed, but I applied this 2 weeks ago, in blistering hot SA heat (one day was 47 degrees, and we were out for the day... oops!) Watered 3 times a day, on gentle mist or light spray. Kept some shade over the seeds where possible and voila, I now have hundreds of fresh grass roots sprouting up around the perimeter of my lawn. Again, not sure what the other people here did wrong -- but I can assure you, this product works if you follow the instructions and actually put the work in (frequent watering for first couple of weeks being one of the major factors.)

Waste of time, effort and money
Wish I could give zero stars. Its not just that I've fallen for the sales pitch or the waste of money. I bought a bag and did all the prep work, Watered and watered. Nup. Well, about 12 straggly green shoots. Ok, I see theres a guarantee. Good. I'll get that (I hope) ... but I thought I'll also a new bag and give it another go (maybe I just got a bad batch ....Doh!!!)
Anyway another couple of backbreaking days of digging and raking and spreading a new bag and watering (before spreading too) ... hope springs eternal .... until read the other reviews.
Now trying to see what Company owns this product so that I can remember not to buy any of its shares.

Waste of money
Looking at the before and after pictures and what seems to be the ability to grow grass on concrete I thought this is the product for me and spent $60 on two bottles. No result. At all.
Ok, me thinking must be the wrong season will try 6 months later and, repeating the process. No result. At all.
The grass grew back in 6-8 months but I am sure this was a natural process and the patch got smaller from the outside in, it did not grow any new grass from the product.
I did everything including hacking up the old grass, putting a layer of brand new soil in then watering meticulously.
This product is an absolute waste of money.
Be warned.

It works
Used patch magic to fill in spots where I had overgrown plants which didn't give enough sun to parts of my yard, once trimed now have patchy areas, I used this product and have seen results within 3weeks, I do water around 3 times a week. Excellent product, do recommend this

Scott's patch magic- think it might be clover seed
Used 2 bags of Scott's patch magic and watered 2-3 times each day and all I have is 80% clover.
Did lots of prep first, used ant powder to stop ants.
Still have heaps of seed evident but not a single grass shoot.
Only thing flourishing is clover (now have at least 30 times more clover- only had a tiny bit of clover before).
Will need to put new lawn down to fix the terrible mess this has left.
Do not waste your time, money or water on this useless patch magic. It will only cost you hundreds to fix the mess it makes of your lawn.

Scotts Patch Magic - An expensive container of dirt
I bought this last year and spread it as directed. No luck - not one seed grew. Thinking that perhaps I had not been vigilant enough in taking care of the patches, I tried it again recently and was very careful to follow directions. Again, not one single seed took. Absolute waste of money.

Patch magic bs
I purchased from my local bunnings grow on concrete. Wont even gro on prepared soil with top dress sand / clay mix watered every 2 hours. Nothing. Maybe the seed is dead and scotts are sitting laughing. Im a good gardener with a highly refarded turf area happy to send pics but this product doesnt work. Maybe someone from scotts could come have a look.

Absolute rubbish
Applied this product to a few patches on an already lush lawn...the Scotts magic patch did not grow at all even after having lawn sprinklers going every day.
I prepared the lawn exactly as the simple 3 step procedure on the packaging suggests.
The product has a money back guarantee but this is not being honoured by the company either.

Didn't Grow
I paid about $30 for Scotts PATCH MAGIC after looking at all the brands and products. I decided on the Patch Magic as it wad from a reputable company in lawn care.
I applied the product as per the very limited instructions and after 3 weeks I can count the actual grass shoots growing with 2 hands. The product has a replacement guarantee but after contacting them I was made to feel stupid and not following instructions and was also told it needs to be watered 3 times a day and should have wire over it to stop birds eating the seed.
End of the day it is just a bucket of seeds like the ones for half price with no magical properties at all. Wouldn't ever buy a seed product from them again.
