If I could give zero stars I would. Purchased one week ago. Worked perfectly fine the first time it was used. Had backed up all of my family photos alot of which cannot be replaced. Plugged it into my parents computer so I could print off photos and it won't recognise the device at all. Followed the troubleshooting and even went online and followed every step. t could not open files. Then came the big red message stating the external drive had suffered a fatal malfunction. Got onto Seagate's tech support only to be told "too bad too sad" they didn't want to help. Never will I purchase another Seagate product ever again. I will stick to cheap knockoffs from now on.Purchased in September 2021.

So Small
This hard drive is great. It looks cool and is even smaller than my older Seatgate ultra slims. I do not use it as a backup but only to store video files. I will definitely buy another one when needed.
Purchased in August 2021 at Computer Alliance for A$84.15.

Great product but even BETTER service!
Used mine for backup plus storing an expanding movie library.
Had it for about 4 months no problem.
The included backup software is rubbish but there's plenty around - I ended up using EaseUS which is free and as reliable as any other with no annoying ads.
I dropped it pretty hard recently - enough for me to think "Uh oh this is NOT good" and of course when I plugged it in - nothing. Laptop would not recognise it all.
Checked online and warranty was still good for another 18 months (you just search on the S/N no need for a receipt or anything) but of course it said they would not cover things like accidental damage - like dropping it. Totally fair but I figured I would try anyways.

Absolute garbage. Used it once, lost all my data
I purchased the Seagate 2TB Backup Plus Ultra Slim Portable Hard Drive Gold three weeks ago. I plugged it in once on my old MacBook and backed up all my files. I then plugged it into my new macbook. I briefly saw my files and then they were gone. My computer couldn’t recognize the drive. My purchase came with a one Year data Recovery option so I called Seagate and they said that I had to send it to their lab in Amsterdam. rnal drive to Amsterdam only to be told that it was so scratched they weren’t able to recover any data. Now everything is lost. So essentially the external drive I purchased was defective. So aside from all that stress, I am now taking them to the tribunal to pay for a local data recovery lab to try and recover Data from my old MacBook. I should have stuck with Toshiba or WD. I will never use Seagate again. The only upside to this is the wonderful staff at officeworks Alexandria and all their help dealing with the manufacturer.Similar opinion?
