I have information that a Fencing Contractor - CAM FENCING uses your service to advertise for Fencing work. This contractor holds my 50% deposit money $1,200.00 that I paid him, for quoted work, to erect my fence, which was supposed to start Dec 2022. To date this has not been done and he does not respond to emails, texts or phone calls. How do I make a formal complaint to your Service and submit a poor rating?

Hi Conda
For some reason your question has come to me and I’m not part of the company I was some one who used the service to find a service.
Good luck with getting your money back or work done.

Hi Conda
If you go back into the website
Serviceseekingcom.au
Scroll right to the bottom and there’s an email address where you can contact a representative to let them know what’s happened as they will also want to know if the contractor has not done the right thing by you. They might also be able to help with how to contact them.
Otherwise perhaps you can contact the consumer affairs. A bit of a pain and time consuming but it’s not fair that you’ve been ripped off

Hi Lisa - great question. I am not going to say it is not more challenging in the beginning - it is.... reviews are important. However, what is more important is your professionalism, ability to offer great solutions to customers at excellent prices. The key is to have a compelling Profile Page that shows that just because you are new to ServiceSeeking you are experienced and skilled at what you do. We do have a 'testimonial' section where you can place comments from customers who hired you outside of ServiceSeeking. I am always happy to help you get started - but we generally say it takes around 3 months to start to get traction. If you need any more advice just reach out at [email protected]

I submitted a job request after clicking a Google ad that offers concreting for $40-$65 / m2. I want 5.29m2 to be exact.

I've had quotes of $1000, the absolute best has been $850. How does your advertising help anyone to connect?

Adam P.ServiceSeeking.com.au

Hi John - generally with low volume jobs there are increased costs as whether the job is 5m or 50m there still needs similar staff numbers (less time of course) - the truck still needs to drive to site etc. So with low volume jobs I can see how the sq metre pricing could be significantly different. We just look at an Australia wide average for average job sizes posted on our site.

I would like assistance with respect to a handy man who has not completed a job and will not answer my calls and texts. He has been paid in full in cash, as he demanded that and promised that he would come back. He has completed other work to a satisfactory standard but not the last job which was a kitchen installation. Basically the kitchen kickers are not installed, the cabinets are not aligned and gaps have not been caulked. So I'm left with an incomplete mess. I don't have documents, only texts between us on other jobs and some of the other jobs at my house are posted on his social media/ server seeking completed tasks. Im really disappointed and I would like your advice e and what you cab do to assist me with an unethical and dishonest worker who uses your platform to attract work.

Hi Barry - we do have a few on our site. If you go to the Directory section of the site in the top right hand corner of the home page- you can put in what you are looking for and the area you live in and it will match you with suitable businesses. In terms of car panel beaters - it just depends on your location how many we can match you with.

Yes - we can only display for a 12 month period after you got your original one. if you can email an updated version to your sales agent or [email protected] we can update it for you. You can also get one for i think around $39 through us - we get wholesale rates that we pass on at cost price to our customers - in your dashboard you can see a link to this.

I have a 1983 manual Nissan Urvan minibus diesel, model E23 series. I get an average 5 to 8 phone calls per day from INDIAN SCAMMERS
who surprisingly know all my details.....and when I ask them about where they sourced my details from, they all admit to getting them from serviceseeking.
I had a similar bad experience with highpages before and as soon as I cancelled my account with them, the scammers disappeared, now I am having the same problem again with scammers attacking me left and right . It makes me wonder if these quoting companies ( except oneflare) are selling our details to the scammers in India

1 answer
ServiceSeeking.com.au
Adam P.ServiceSeeking.com.au

Hi Ghada,
To be absolutely clear - we never send your details to any 3rd party, let alone Indian scammers. The issue is that we do have a Directory - which displays your contact details so customers can call your directly. The problem with publicly displaying your details is that whilst customers can call you - so can Indian scam companies. I know exactly the call that they make and they basically say they are from ServiceSeeking and can get you to number one on Google.
The problem is if we remove the online directory - then real customers wont also be able to see your phone number.
This is my advice re this. As soon as you hear someone from a scam company, just immediately hang up. In my experience they will eventually get the idea and they will put you on a list that receives less calls. I know this is very frustrating - but we also want you to get as many legitimate calls as possible.
Unfortunately these Indian Scam companies don't adhere to any Australian requirements such as the 'Do Not Call Register'.
Happy to chat with you more about this if you want. You can email me personally at [email protected] if you need any more info or advice.
I understand its very frustrating and hopefully they will give up soon.
Just hang up.

ServiceSeeking S.ServiceSeeking.com.au

We're sorry for the trouble that this business has caused you. It's certainly not the type of behaviour we expect from our businesses and definitely not something we will tolerate.

Service Seeking has a 2-strike policy. We can either issue a formal warning to the business, record strike 1 of 2 strikes, or suspend a business account. We do however, also consider the business' side of the story.

Please send us documentation to support your side of the story. We will contact the business once we have your documentation.

Just curious have used 3 times and ripped off by 2 elections, just curious the price is a lot higher if you want a receipt and service seeking don't take responsibility if the tradie doesn't finish the job after you have paid, hence you can't go to fair trading as no paper trail!!!!!! I'm surprised the ATO haven't had their say! Trouble is many of us have to pay cash due to lower price???

ServiceSeeking.com.au
Adam P.ServiceSeeking.com.au

Hi Ann,
ServiceSeeking is a marketplace and we try to get you as many quotes as possible so you can choose the best business for your job. The key is to choose a business that not only offers you a good price but has the credibility and trustworthiness to do the job you want - the way you want it. Check out their reviews, ask them if they guarantee their work and tell them upfront you want a receipt. The ATO absolutely have their say with businesses that take cash and don't disclose their income - its illegal and not something we endorse at all. The ServiceSeeking platform allows you the option to pay your tradie through our site if you wish (and they also agree) which will give you the paper trail you want.
In terms of a tradie not finishing a job - make sure you let us know if this ever happens as we will certainly investigate - we don't want bad tradies on our site. If you hire a tradie with a lot of positive reviews and checked out their previous work this is less likely to happen to you.
Also review their profile and choose businesses who are insured and have a police check.
Hope this helps!

I always do but it always backfires !i put in a complaint about David Lynch electrical, put was told there was nothing they can do and his reviews were perfect!!! A police check is useless as everyone even I have one, I appreciate your response but still have to pay another electrician to finish off his work.

Is this site legit?
Like I understand I have to pay money to contact clients just wondering if it’s paid off for many people?

2 answers
ServiceSeeking.com.au
Adam P.ServiceSeeking.com.au

Hi Stevie - With over 100,000 businesses registered with us and almost 3 million jobs posted - the site has certainly paid off for many of our clients. On average about $40m of work is generated for businesses through our site every month. As the site is a marketplace - you need to compete for this work. So - a lot of businesses do very well on our site but there are some that don't. You will need to market your business, build up reviews, explain the customers why they should pick you over your competitors to do their job. If you are a good communicator and can follow the process we give you and you continue to do excellent work for customers then this should be a great way to win more work - check out our homepage at serviceseeking.com.au for case studies of successful businesses.
