Hi Sirius team,
I am trying to make decision about choosing between SL906L 850or SL906-LExcel850. These 2 model has a $500 to $600 variation in price. I read both review and they are excellent. If I choose the lower price model
SL906-L850 and it is going to have around 5m pipe to outside. Would you think his model would extract Asian cooking with heaps of smoke and steam? I need to know as soon as possible as my builder need to install the pipe soon 2 weeks time.
Your promt reply would be much appreciated then I can choose the right model rangehood .
Regards
Dora

Hi Shiraz!
I would suggest going the twin motor version
(excel) considering the type of cooking you do, also because you have a relatively long ducting run. If you would like to discuss further, happy to help! Please call us on 1300 762 219 and choose technical option. Our team will go through your install details with you to make sure you have the perfect model for your application. Team Sirius.

Hi
My rangehood makes a lot of noise but doesn't seem to draw all of the fumes well. I'm wondering if this is due to where it is ducted too perhaps?
Thanks

Hi thank you for your question, this sounds like an installation problem, the range hoods are very strong, you would either have a ducting issue or something similar, if you cannot see the fault you will need a service call to book this contact our team on 1300762219, thank you Ariston team.

We have exactly the same issue as many others have had - buttons one and two not working on SL906 EM-L520 with SEM2 that was recently installed and had the power turned on for the first time today. I am in Auckland. What is the solution please? The installer referred us to the retailer but I would like to hear the solution from you.

Anthony F.Sirius
Dear Davea this is an installation issue, the plugs have not been connected properly, you need to remove the dummy plug on the 2c pin connector on the rangehood. This information can be gained from our service department. Email our team at [email protected], thank you.
Nickasked
Question to all reviewers of the SL906L520 model. Were these installed with an off board motor (ie motor in the roof space) or an onboard motor within the canopy. What are the noise levels like at min and max speed?
Many thanks.
Nick

Hey Nick, our unit has a sem 1 motor positioned up in the roof space, the motor is about 5 meters away from the hood so the unit is virtually silent and all we can hear is the air movement from our hood. It's awesome!
Hi Pantsman
Many thanks for your feedback. Would you be able to tell me where you bought it and what was the cost please? Also, what is the type and size of your cooktop.
Cheers
Nick

For some reason the rangehood switches off after five minutes on all the speeds except for the lowest speed? I can't find an instruction manual in case it might be something to do with the timer function?

Anthony F.Sirius
HI David it sounds like your using the induction countdown control, try using the settings for 1,2,3 etc see how this goes or call our team on 1300762219, thank you Sirius.

Hi there, we are in the middle of a kitchen renovation. Have purchased the SL906 EM L520. It has just been installed today. Buttons No.1 and 2 do not appear to work. Can hear a click on pressing those buttons. Speeds 3 and 4 work but are very loud. This is ducted outdoors with an SEM2 motor. I see another person (Kay - Oct 25, 2015) had EXACTLY the same issue... Please advise how we can rectify this - it does not appear to be an installation issue - we've got over everything!

I have bought a 75cm cooktop, want to buy sirius SL906L520 OR SL906L850. The salesman told me SL906L520 can be used for a 75cm cooktop and it has stronger strength of exhausting than 850. My concern is 520 is not wide enough to cover all hobs of the cook-top. Please tell me which one is the best suit for a 75cm cooktop? Thanks!

Hi thanks for your question the larger the rangehood the better, your feeling was right, you would like to have a 850mm rangehood in this case. See our range online for further information, the FAQ page will also help you if you have further concerns, http://siriusbrand.com/, http://siriusbrand.com/faq/, each rangehood has different extraction the specification sheets will tell you the extraction rate. The two models you have mentioned have the same extraction but if you have a larger surface area the best option is a larger rangehood. Thank you Sirius Brand.
L850 is definitely better

We have just had our Sirius SL906-850 installed and it works perfectly. The problem is we also have a box (its possibly an off board motor) that we don't even know where or how to connect to the undermounted unit. Is it a case of, once connected this off board motor overrides the motor in the undermount, does this make it even quieter? We can not find where it plugs in or how it powers up. If the rangehood works fine, what is this other motor, were we possibly sold something extra that we didn't need? We are very confused. Thank you, Shirl

Hi Kay, I have just bought a Sirius model with an external motor. It was installed today, and we have EXACTLY the same issues! How did you resolve this?

I have just had a Sirius SL 906- L850 model installed. It was highly recommended by salesperson. I got it because it was meant to be quiet however it sounds like a jet plane taking off on 2-4, I even find no 1 loud. Should I go back to the electrician who installed it first? I can't believe it would be so loud since a lot of reviews state how quiet it is. Can't tell you how disappointed I am!

I am thinking of replacing an existing retractable rangehood with the SL906 EM-L 520. I read in the manual that the mid-point of the rangehood should ideally be directly over the middle of the cooktop. My existing overhead cupboard where the Sirius rangehood would sit is 300mm deep, and my bench top is 675mm deep with the mid-point of the existing gas cooktop being 325mm from the rear of the bench top, such that only the rear 220mm of the gas cooktop is under the rangehood and the remaining 280mm of the cooktop being beyond the front edge of the rangehood. Will this be a problem with extraction or should I look at another retractable to provide that coverage over?

Anthony F.Sirius
Hi we suggest that you look at the size of your cooktop and then centre the rangehood as much as possible; PLease feel free to call us re this discussion; thank you, 1300762219

I have just installed a sirius SL7 900. it turns on every time, but once on becomes totally unresponsive. I can't change the fan speed, turn the light on/off or turn the fan off.
Very frustrating. Am I missing something?

Dear Dc, it sounds like it is not connected properly. We suggest that you contact our team if it is in warranty to log a service call. Sirius Rangehoods should not have this issue. And using its functions should be as easy as pressing the button. Kindest regards, Sirius Team.

I want to buy an Ariston gas cooktop which measures 50cm x 65cm comprising 4 burners in a diamond shape. Is the SL 906-L520 suitable to ensure 100% of steam is taken away or do I have to go larger?
1 answer
Anthony F.Sirius
Hi Steve thank you for your question, having a smaller rangehood over the cooktop is no problem at all, it is ideal to have a larger one as it extracts more air however with the power of this rangehood you wont have any issues at all. Kind regards, Sirius Team.
