Good company to deal with
We had issues with our range hood but are very happy with SMEG’s response to our problem. Unlike some, this company will look after you . We are very impressed.
Thank you Mr Cullen

Quality issue
I have this unit installed with my other SMEG Appliances stove and oven. In less than 3 years, the unit has power but fan is no longer working. Bad quality for such a new unit.

Fan fell off after 4 years.
After much research we spent the considerable sum for this unit. When it arrived, it appeared to be a return because the box had been opened, the plastic wrap was half pealed off, and the filters had multiple dents. Once Smeg decided it wasn't their supply chain problem they didn't care. After a month ignoring us, we decided all we could do was install it.
I provide this info, a; because we were very disappointed with the service, and b; because it may be the reason for our problems now!
Now, after four years of mild domestic use, the fan...Read more
mounts have fallen off!. I have video of the fan now wobbling more than a cm inside the housing. Inspecting the unit showed the screws are loose. Unfortunately, the whole fan mount wobbles inside the electric motor casing. When the fan fell off, I was out of the room and the motor was powered but stopped for a couple of minutes. The authorised repair man noted the loose screw thread was stripped inside of the motor and glued it back in. So my $1300 rangehood had to have its screws glued in! I am left to wonder what impact the period the motor was on without being cooled by the fan will be, with virtually no recourse throughout the whole sorry saga. So, either we did get a reconditioned one at full price, or they make poor quality products, where screws fall off. I would accept fair ware and tear to be electric motor brushes wearing out, not the structure of the unit collapsing!

Find out how Smeg SA550-2X90 compares to other Range Hoods
Know better, choose better.
Rangehood not working
Hi Smeg my Rangehood has stopped working after 6 years of having purchased it seems like i have the same problem as the persons above . Wanting to know if this will be a ongoing issue with this model
Lights and fan work sporadically
Turn the light switch on and fan comes on vise versa
I am happy with the Rangehood since buying it as its strong suction and have never had a problem with it since installing it .
Not to impressed with the life span of a $1500 unit
My old house had a cheap unit that was 15 years old

Our SMEG SA5502X90 is 4.5 years old having being installed during a kitchen renovation at that time. During the following years the buttons began to do different things and slowly got worse. At some stages we thought the unit was dead, but then later it would come back to life. The behaviour was quite bizarre. After 4.5 years we were at our wits end. We thought the solution would be to replace the unit. Three weeks ago our SMEG dishwasher (same age) also suffered a minor problem with a flow switch. At this stage we could have simply vent...Read more
ed our frustration on a forum such as this, but instead decide to make a direct contact to SMEG to ask if they could do anything to help. The response from SMEG was immediate and exemplary. They arranged for a technician to visit and make the necessary repairs. This was done promptly. The repairs were straight forward and not difficult involving the ribbon cable and PCU. The range hood was not at end of life. Similarly the dishwasher flow switch was a simple repair. All was completed within 1.5 hours. The main issue with the range hood was the ribbon cable. This is an essential part of having a slide out range hood with buttons at the front. Daniel took great care to lay out the ribbon cable properly to avoid future issues. Both appliances are now working perfectly, and we are extremely pleased. It is so good having the units working properly again. The response from SMEG was immediate and professional. To Steve and Daniel, many thanks. This is greatly appreciated.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Thank you for your email.
All relevant paperwork is located inside the Rangehood.
Please remove the mesh filters from the underside of the Rangehood and you will find all the paperwork inside the motor cavity.
I am Australian Rangehood Installations here in Melbourne. Don't reduce the duct size, make sure it is ducted outside or it is a waste of time putting one in.
You can email me any queries and I will try and help you. My email: [email protected]
