Undocumented Flaw That Effects Users With Larger Than Normal Music Libraries
I have quite a lot of Sonos products and loved the concept of Sonos when it first came out. The product was exciting and innovating. The products are build well, look good and are easy to setup.
But several years later I hit a wall. A wall that isn't documented in the Sonos documentation and EVERY buyer or prospective buyer should be aware of this.
If you are a music streamer and use services like Spotify, then this thankfully doesn't concern you however, if you are a local music supporter and have a lot of music in your local library, this...Read more

Do Not Buy Any Sonos Product
The Sonos speaker range is quite simply the worst product I have ever purchased. Period. It is so so so complicated and always stops working. It's app is poorly designed and is complicated. I have thrown all of my Sonos products in the bin. DO not buy for the sake of your sanity.

Don't Buy Sonos-Never Ending Trouble
Do not buy this product. Attempting to use it is torture. A problem to solve with every second update and one use in ten. Looks good, sound quality quite good and I really like having it in multiple rooms (which by the way is where the problems arrive-multiple speakers), however there is simply no consistency to it working. The help number is only open during working hours, thus a frustration whenever you go to use it after work or on the weekend, you can't get any help. I have just spent another one and a half hours on forums and all you see is the same very unhappy people.

It's everything it says it is.
Wonderful sound I use it for my outdoor speaker. Easy to use, if you have iffy wi fi the music from a music service can occasional be a problem, however not a big deal and nothing to do with Sonos.
Great piece of equipment

Love at first listen.
At last, a beautiful sounding easy to use sound system.
The Sonos Play5 is cutting edge. It is so easy to set up. This is the way such things should work. Seamless.
The set up instructions seemed confusing because they are so minimal. Surely something is missing?
But no, just follow the oh so basic instructions and set up the app on your smart device and it is done. It literally takes only minutes. It is very obvious that Sonos have invested considerable time and effort and taken no compromises in quality, design and functionality.
Well done Sonos.

Awesome
I was really taken aback by how easy the set up was. I bought the Play 5 with a bridge so I could move the speaker around depending on what I was doing. The whole system is so easy to use and the sound is mind-blowing. I have a large lounge/kitchen/dining area with 16 foot high ceilings, open louvres all around (I live in the tropics) & the Play 5 has blown me away with it's ability to produce beautiful, rich, full sound in a large, open environment. It was like rediscovering my music all over again. Some songs sounded better than I'd ever heard them. The cost is not cheap, but it's not extortionate either and it has been worth every cent. Sonos really know their stuff. I will be buying the Play1 for my bathroom.

The Sonos Application
The application is very good and easy to use. Just disappointed about queue system. It seems clunky and annoying to use when it comes to playing my own music. It needs a multi queue function where you have your favourite list playing and then if you just want to play a couple of songs in an order then it plays them next. Once they are finished it should go back to the favourite queue. The Ultimate Jukebox PC application does this brilliantly. Sonos has just one queue and when you add songs to it they stay there forever until you remove them. Very annoying.
Sound quality, Easy functionality, multi control device operation. Great for Radio.
The Queue system is very poor

Excellent sound system!
I needed a sound system for my new house and I bought Play 5. It has awesome sound and minimal distortion when played loud. I like the way I can access it anywhere in the house from my Iphone 5, laptop or tablet. I can even stream radio from my phone. If the phone rings I can turn it down from my phone, no fuss or scrambling for a remote. You can change songs, save a playlist or turn it off, all very easily. Good work Sonos. I will buy more components.

Great System
I've had 2 play 5's and a bridge for almost 2 years and have been very happy with them. Easy to set up, plays all my music, and has great sound. They work well as a stereo pair, or I can separate them and move one outside or to another room.
The controller is great and works on my andriod and iPad devices (although I'm waiting for a Windows Store version). However, I will put a plug in for the SonoPad iPad app, which is heaps better than the sonos controller. You have to pay for that, however.
Thought of expanding with a sub or playbar, or maybe a few more units, but they are very pricey. They really gouge australians with their "aussie tax", as the stuff is much cheaper in the UK/US.
Great sound; simple to setup

Brlliant Quality Product
Needed something flexible, that would help me reduce cables, and get rid of old stereos that chew up heaps of power, but could connect to TV, other devices that may not support WiFi connectivity. It had to have quality sound, not take up space, be portable and elegant
So given the tall order...
Key Features:
- 3.5mm audio in jack (which I used to connect to the TV in the end)
- Internet music sources (Pandora, etc)
- Can act as a Ethernet switch off the WiFi network
- Local Network music sources like samba servers (Windows Sharing...Read more

Exceeded my highest expectations
I was in the market for a "speaker" that I could push music to via DLNA. I was almost set to buy a Sony SA-NS410 when a friend suggested I check out SONOS. The PLAY:5 is the best sounding integrated piece of equipment I have ever experienced. Excellent integration with my existing media (iTunes, NAS), easy-to-use GUI, Internet radio and more. Coupled with my new JB HI-FI NOW media subscription this exceeds all expectations. Sounds quality is superb, cant believe they get so much clarity and base from the same unit.
Sound quality, complete integration with existing media and internet
Requires wireless bridge unless you're near your router

Update: No longer need a wireless bridge. Still operating perfectly, brilliant sound.

Terrific and simple to set up.
Easy to set up, works wonderfully via PC, iPad, laptop or iPhone app... Great support and good sound. I have a system: the Play5, a Sonos Bridge (see my more detailed review there) and a Sonos Connect. DOn't know how I managed without it, it's just great. And the world of radio across the world... is simply incredible. Who knew there were so many stations and they were so easy to find and use? Plus I can play all my own music.
Simple to set up, good sound, easily expandable later if I choose to add more bits to the system

Amazingly awesome
Sonos is awesome. I've just purchased my Sonos speakers and bridge. It sounds awesome and works so easily via my laptop or iphone. I use it to play my itunes music and also stream spotify wirelessly. The setup was very simply. I wish I found Sonos earlier. I've been missing out.
Simple wireless system and great sound

Simple Sonos
First I tried ihome for a wireless speaker which was hopelessly difficult to configure that I gave up. Exchanged it for the SONOS Play 5, it is unreal. Easy to configure for a non-techo head such as myself. Thumping sound for a tiny unit, stylish, flexible system to expand as required. Love it.
Setup was so so easy. Streaming digital radio from around the world

Can I connect a Play 5 to my existing home wifi network or do I need a bridge to create a dedicated network?
Thanks
4 answers
Yes, to connect to wifi, you need a bridge. The units have Ethernet ports, but not wifi capability. Sonos wireless is proprietary.
Yep, Crashalot is right, the Play 5 does not need a bridge. However, the Play 5 must then be wired to the modem.
Thanks to you both for your advice

Why is my sonos not working now its wireless lighting is not flashing and my iphone is telling me to walk within range and its still searching and spinning around.?

Are you able to get stereo effect from two sonos play 5 speakers?
2 answers
I only have the one Play:5 in the loungeroom and because our house is so small that's all we have. We have a Play:3 in the husband's man cave in the shed separate. Sorry I can't answer your question from actual practical implementation, although my initial thoughts are yes you probably could, that would be the intent of the Sonos system. Stereo sound from all speakers linked, they are essentially a stand alone speaker that can be connected in sync with others.
Yes. Can be switched to a stereo config in the setup menu, as can the Play 3 and Plat 1.

Further to my review. The new Play5 comes with Wifi built in so you do not require any other devices if you have a Wifi network.
If you have multiple Sonos devices your music will follow you as you move from room to room. Multiple users can listen to their own selection on the same network in different rooms at the same time. Yes it is beautiful. The Smart phone/ iPad app is a free download and is so simple to use.... Read more
