Great, except:
I have the compact one, bought it because we have the grill model at work & that one is brilliant.
This one would be fabulous, except it doesn't toast very well on the bottom! Always have to flip sandwiches over to toast the other side (would be pretty impossible with an open sandwich!)
I know it's not something I'm doing wrong, as I've tried every possible variation to make it work - no butter on the outside, a little, more, lots . . . .
I thought I just had a dodgy model, and Myer exchanged it, but the new one is the same.

beam, who weren't very interested, and told me to take it back to the retailer and try 3rd time lucky. I suspect it is just an isolated fault, but one that's affected a whole batch, rather than just one item. I could exchange it again, but my patience for going through the whole thing a third time is wearing pretty thin. I think I will take it back, but will reluctantly try a different brand this time.1 comment

Ideal for our work as people bring all different kinds of foods to put into our press at work now. Very useful. from sliced potatoes, sandwiches, foccacias, omeletes, etc., and for just heating. then its just wiped down
We have one in the tea room at work, it's great, gets flogged to death & still going strong. Easy to clean (& you can imagine the mess with 100+ people using it).
And we cooked an egg on it the other... Read more

Excellent buy
Excellent machine. No complex parts or instructions. Has been easy to clean. Locking mechanism is simple but effective - locks closed or into an open position for different thicknesses of sandwich, wrap or whatever you choose to put in it. Large plate size allows for a number of items to be toasted or cooked simultaneously.
large non stick plates.
Stainless case also gets extremely hot.

Great sandwich press
This is a really good sandwich press. It appears to have a good quality teflon coating and toasts sandwiches to perfection. I like the fact that you can lock the lid down for storage (so it doesn't unexpectedly open up when you're getting it out of the cupboard) and there is a facility to wrap the cord tidily underneath it. The lock also allows you to lock the lid in a certain position for open grilling of sandwiches or to ensure the top presses down evenly for more thorough heat penetration. It seems to be a better design that the Breville I used to own.
Good design including storage to wrap cord and locking lid.
I'd like to see all manufacturers make their appliances recyclable at the end of their life (including all packaging).

There was no manual in the box - where can i get a manual before i use it?
1 answer
Have you tried, looking online! Although the company probably would send you one or tell you where to get one.But from memory,it heats in 2-3 minutes. They say dont butter the outside of your sandwich, but I do.Do not immerse in water. The hinges are self explainatory.Happy Grilling.

I did exchange this again for a third attempt, and happily it was third time lucky!
es toast! Have tried it once for an open melt, but found it didn't melt the cheese very effectively - the top plate just didn't seem to be quite hot enough. The locking system to do this seems like a good idea, but I'll do open melts under the grill from now on.I use it a lot for toasted sandwiches - the bottom still toasts noticeably less than the top, but at least now it do...
