Beautiful machine
I'm now on my 2nd Burgman. I never considered buying a scooter (having always ridden bikes), until I saw one of these on eBay. Hadn't ridden for w while so I thought it would make a good interim bike until upgrading. Anyway, it's been so solid and reliable, plus so comfortable to ride around, that I ended up upgrading to an exec after 100,000km. Plenty of space under the seat, narrow enough to get to the front of the line at traffic lights, yet powerful and heavy enough for solid freeway/country cruising.
Everything
That stupid plastic cover over the electrics under the left glovebox always comes off.

magnificant
I've now ridden over 100,000km since I bought the Burgman Exec in April 2008. The only faults I've encountered have been the result of incorrect assembly (front wheel bearing). There are a few design faults that you need to be aware of. The air filter is upside down which means any loose dirt falls into the engine side when you remove the filter. Considering most dealers mechanics I've dealt with didn't know how to put the engine cover back on, this is a worry. If you ever stray off dry clean bitumen, it's a good idea to fit a mud flap on ...Read more
the front. Without it, after 5k roadworks the radiator was 1/2 covered. performance, reliability, low centre of gravity, excellent low speed charactorists, high speed stability. quiet, even without ear plugs seat not as comfy as it looks. Ride is a bit harsh.1 comment

yes it's great BUT?
As I said it's great yet made perfect with a taller screen/Givi $250.00 aud
The std screen should have been more ajustable for height.
the ride is a little on the hard side even on rear soft setting
But all up a perfect ride and a great tourer, buy the screen and thats it you will find there is much else you need to buy.
std screen to short and im 5 foot 6"

Depends where you want your screen to be. If you want to look through it - After the screen gets all scratched up, you won't be able to see when it rains or at night.

best choice large CC scooter on the market
Bought this bike in 2007 and ride it every day. Has never let me down. Love the great weather protection and huge underseat storage. Can fit 2 helmets and a few clothes or lots of shopping including a 30 pack of soft drink. It mightn't look as funky cool as a harley davidson but I had one of them too and preferred riding this. Practical, smooth, cheap to run. Plastic always looks good.
Storage, weather protection, ease of use
has a large body so isn't the best for lane splitting but I do it anyway by pulling the mirrors in

Follow-up - Mine is a 650 non-executive 2003 model. At around 26k, it started making (referred to in burgmanusa as) a dieseling noise. This is due to a design flaw in something to do with the CVT. Suz... Read more
uki Australia declares there is no flaw but Burgmans from 2005 onwards do not have the same parts nor, surprisingly, the same issue. Suzuki wanted to charge me (estimated) $2000 to pull the bike apart, even though they had no idea what they were looking for - just some ambiguous blah about the CVT about to expire ... at any moment. They didn't even have the tools on hand to open it up and would have to order them in. After researching Burgmanusa myself i found the dieseling description and explanation. Suzuki rejected what is already known in the USA and refused me any warranty if I didn't go ahead with their quoted work. The bike now has over 36k on the clock and the noise is just there. Makes no difference to the operation at all and the bike hasn't missed a beat.___The worst part about Burgman ownership in Sydney is that no Suzuki mechanics seem to know anything about, or know how to work on, them.Similar opinion? After riding 'proper' motorcycles for just over thirty years, I fancied a change. A customer of mine one day was talking about his new bike and praising it for the way it handled and it's comfort. I thought he was talking about a conventional bike until I actually saw it. For me, it was love at first sight! I enjoy just about everything about this scooter. I have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone who wants to just kick back and cruise in comfort and style, and enjoy what freedom it offers. And just a thought for those of you who may be...Read more
'die-hard' bikies that are having a good laugh at the moment - I was of you once until I tried the Burgmann and finally bought one. Maybe you will too! Just about everything! Comfort, style, braking, handling, acceleration, controls, mirrors that give perfect rear view! and that wonderful CVT auto/manual transmission. The under seat storage area can even fit a drinks cooler to keep 'roadies' cool. Offer a Harley rider one if you see his tongue drooling! Inaccessible valves for tyre inflation because of relatively small wheels. Could do with 90 degree valve extenders. Slight cough back on over-run when decelerating.1 comment
Bext time you change tyres get them to fit 90 degree fittings.

I was an [censored word removed] for delaying getting this
I first bought a conventional motorbike because of the image thing of scooter. My v-star was great, by I never let my eyes off possible scooters that could handle the open road. I finally relented and abandoned the pressures of biker die-hards, tested a few scoots, and fell in love with a 2nd hand 2006 an650. Oh my God!!! Power. Stability. Luggage space. Ease. Looks. It will take off like a rocket, but not feel like the front wheel is about to lift off, it stays level. The list goes on and on.
I stronger suspect the regular biker community don...Read more

Wait for the 30,000 mile transmission failure which will cost more to fix than the scoot is worth. Love will turn to hate, stay close to home !

out "BLOODY HELL THAT THING CAN TAKE OFF!!!" Made me smile. It is scary to think that it is not a serviceable item but I've done 75,000miles (120,000km) & touch wood, the transmission works like the day I bought it.

Love every second of it. Go and buy yours now. You will not be sorry. I think it is the bike of the future. When all the existing rev heads discover the Buzz of the Burgman.
Just bought my AN650 Burgman 3 weeks ago. How can I express it in just written words. It is wonderful, fabulous, sensational, now I have run out of words to describe it. I am 65 years old. I have ridden every size and model of motorcycle. Stating with a BSA Bantam 125 in 1958 and a long list of bikes that ended with a BMW K1100LTD which I traded in for the Burgman. ...Read more

Local Riders?
Had the 650 Exec for 8 months now and love it. In the first month I did a 3000k interstate trip and it held the road like a rock, and gave me no trouble other than my aching jaw from continually smiling. Is there an Australian Burgman forum or Burgman riders' club (I'm in central Vic)? A few group rides would be fun.

Love it!
I love my Burgman, most comfortable bike I have ever owned. I commute to work everyday, about 100ks per day and have done Melbourne to Sydney and back very comfortably through the coast.
If you own one, please be aware of the "Centre stand switch", last weekend on a ride back from Traralgon, about to hours from Melbourne, I stoped at a petrol station to fill up, place the bike on the centre stand and when I took off, the bike was stuck on 1st gear, even on D (auto)the bike wouldn't go any faster the 35ks...

Suzuki Burgman 650 2006 model. This is the white one and yes I LOVE IT it would have to be the best city scooter as it is very easy to use and has a lot of room under the seat for shopping(i have looked at all the scooters in this size range and this was the one for me). Have used this scooter now for about 14 months now and i do not find a thing that i do not like about it well just one the screen is to short for me (i am 187cm) but you can buy a after market screen that is biger. This is one of the most relaxed ridding styes and a lot of fun a...Read more
s you can use it as a manual or auto with a power butten for the extra boost to drag of the others (then they stop laughing). In the wind it is good as the scooter is around 250kg with petral in it and you dont get as wet like otheres. Very easy to ride you will love it!!!!!!!! My girl friend went and got the 400 burgman because she loved how easy it was to ride (it was the color "RED") Screen to small and the rear suspension is not that good for two people.Similar opinion? I swapped my stock screen for a Clerview XL I had shipped from the States. Fully up, I see through. Fully down, I see over. It's 2.5 inches taller than stock and works very well.

This is my fourth 650 Burgman and this one is the Executive which has an electric adj screen and a 6th gear overdrive and ABS,but they are all marvellous, have owned over a hundred bikes and have had a bike license for 70years and nothing compares to the ease and pleasure of riding a Burgman I am now 87 and enjoying every minute of the Suzuki.Very easy to ride.
Practically everything
Some panel guages are hard to read in some light, not the kph which is quite large

Awesome Bike!
Just picked up the AN650. Love it, lots of reserve power, handles like a bike, easy to operate, gives me more time to enjoy the ride! Makes anyone look like a Super Hero with the "James Bond" Styling.
great styling and price, lots of fun.
no radio, needs more accessory options.

A great bike/scooter. I am a big guy and I have been told that it suits me. Love the quick take offs, leaves nearly everything in it's wake. Would recommend to anyone looking for a bike/scooter. Absolutely love it.
Love the bike/scooter. Great ride. Have had road bikes in the past, but this is better. I commute 150 km daily and this bike/scooter does it with ease. Very economical. Storage space is great. I am looking at a cruise control for my bike/scooter which would make it ideal for cruising.
Yes, the screen is too short but for all the pluses, this is something I can bear.

Good
Overall, ease of automatic and engine power prevails. I want to keep this bike and just have to accept those cons.
Speed and acceleration better than many bikes . Cruises easy at 150km/h. Obvious are under seat storage, easy automatic operation
Unstable steering at very slow speeds. As it has no clutch, strong engine braking felt all the time as soon as throttle returned. Imagine entering corners with engine brakes on and cannot disengage ! Hard and uncomfortable rider seat and picks up every bump and dent of the road. While stylish in appearance, I feel too plasticky. Dry 240kg is too heavy. Speedo showing 10% faster than actualy is.

"Suzuki Burgman 650" - Bloody Rippa !!!
I've been riding my '03 model Burger for 2 years (36 000 K's) now and it's never missed a beat. Can't stress how good it is as a cruiser and even though it's a scooter, the city ride is fantastic ! Scooter haters look out coz this is more like a comfy bike. 15 inch wheels and the engine not being attached to the swing arm mean it handles more like a bike than any other scooter. I recommend the Burgman to anyone who needs something easier or more comfortable to ride !!
Styling, power, comfort, storage space, visibility on road. IT'S DIFFERENT !!
Screen too short, drive belt longevity (kevlar alternatives available from U.S.A.), weight (236 Kg but you get used to it!!),
