Suzuki KingQuad 300 4x4 Questions & Answers

My bike is about 3-4year old and only done 2500kms. I haven’t needed any spares yet but Kessler Motor Cycles on Main North Road in Adelaide supplied anything I need in the way of filters / air cleaners etc to my local mechanic.

Drum brake only on rear wheel. As a 4 wheel drive this is the same as brakes on all wheels

If pressure is lowered, they will go over sandy places, but if that's something you do regularly, then I would invest in wheels appropriate for sand - ie low ground pressure fat tyres.

I agree with Baxter burger but I have found no problem at all with the tyres supplied. Better sand tyres will help in sand but not as good for say wet grass. The machine will go anywhere in basic form. It depends what you want to do and how fast you need to go then you might to need to choose specialised tyres.

I would be inclined to go with the 300 for hilly / creek terrain. It will still tow a trailer with 250 kg load.

But if you have need to tow more than this, or more quickly then i'd go the 500.

I tow a 7x5 trailer picking olives or a smaller trailer that carries half ton of wood using the 300cc I live in the Adelaide hills near Mt Lofty so weight is not a problem but traction can be. I've never needed to use the lowest range Ye

Go as big as you can afford the bigger the better

The quick answer is no. You have well over half a ton of water on the bike if it sits on the racks. Two things will happen, suspension springs will be stressed beyond capacity and steering geometry with drive shaft angle will be at an unhealthy extreme. Hauling a load of water / spray chemical in a proper plastic tank straddling the rear carrier can manage a couple of hundred litres if there is a straight axle (not independent rear suspension) and toughened spring - shock absorber.

But this machine will tow that quantity if you are on fairly level ground and your quad trailer is rated for it. Towing that much would require lowest gearing.

Always get proper advice from a Suzuki dealer with regard to capacity of these machines.

I dont know who 'baxterburger' is but my thoughts would be the same without his detailed knowledge. I tow a small trailer often with 1/2 tonne of firewood on it often. The bike works hard in mid range gears but does not seem to struggle. I also have a 150l spray unit permanently mounted on the back and itis fine but likely to tip back when full and accelerating up steep hills.
