Worth the wait.
I looked at many electric bicycles, both on-line and at the bike shops. What I needed was something to fit my shape, size, weight and age. I'm not as flexible as I used to be, and leaning forward with all the weight on my wrists wasn't going to work for me either. Then I found a company in Cheltenham called TEBCO and they showed me the "Explorer". This bike ticked most of my boxes. Decent battery, 26" wheels, mudguards front and rear, available in blue/white or red/white, 7-speed gear-set and not too heavy. TEBCO had a demo bike, which th...Read more
ey kindly allowed me to road-test, so off I went. I have to say that it felt awkward. Because people come in different shapes and sizes, this standard bike needed a bit of tweaking to suit me. Back in the workshop, I had a chat with George, the mechanic/technician, and we decided on a few changes. First the seat had to go. That skinny seat the "lycra guys" use wasn't going to support my ample backside, so they fitted a larger, wider seat. Then the handlebars were changed to higher ones, which allowed me to sit more upright. Now we were getting somewhere. Another road-test and it began to feel much better. We did some final tweaking to the seat height and the handlebar position, and the bike felt great. This is one I could ride all day. On a paved, level surface, the Explorer had very little rolling resistance, so minimal effort was required when pedalling without assistance from the motor. But when going uphill, and you feel the motor kick in, well, you just wonder why you procrastinated for so long before getting one of these things. This is life-changing. A nice little bonus is the twist-grip throttle which allows you to briskly accelerate away from standstill to regular riding speed. I would rate this bike 10/10, and the service from the guys at TEBCO was very much appreciated, and all at no extra charge. Brilliant!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
