2013 SR Hilux 4x4 Dual Cab
Well, its been a while since I didn't have the pleasure of driving a Lux so went out and bought a new one.
2013 SR 4x4 Dual Cab with the VSC (Vehicle Stability Control) Pack.
(3.0TD 4 speed Auto)
(Toyota - EGR canopy and ARB Winch Bar)
Initial impression... A decent step up in looks from the stock SR but it's no SR5. Wheels look very ordinary in silver steel.
Drives well, handles well. Have had 300kg in the back and it only made it ride nicer still. Empty it rides okay but 100kgs worth of tool/whatever in the back just settles it nicel...Read more
y. Have just done a 2300km trip from Brisbane to Sydney and back without so much as a rattle knock or creak. Fuel economy was fair for a family of four plus the luggage that goes with three females for 10 days.

Now at almost 30,000kms. Luxy is still going strong. Not one rattle, squeak or noise.... well apart from those damn Injectors.
The front brakes have a slight shudder which will be addressed at the ne... Read more

(Elected to have fuel filter done at the same time, earlier than scheduled but cheap insurance) Front Rotors out of spec 0.6mm variation which is beyond Toyota's guidelines which was cause of brake shudder. Toyota Skimmed the front rotors under warranty. I would have thought that any machining on the rotors would not be required until at least 80,000 but they must be making them soft these days for better braking. (PS: No water crossings or any brake abuse done to cause the rotor issue. On the bright side, it appears that Toyota have come to the party and my dealer has informed me that new injectors are on their way. Not before time mind you - Its been over a year of excessively noisy injectors and I'm well over it. Well done to the dealer for following through with it. Job not done yet but fingers crossed.

General Motors recall thousands of vehicles for faulty air-bags. Not Toyota.
Many of the Toyota Hilux have faulty clock springs. I did not know what this word meant 3 years ago, but you can type anything into Google these days and there is not much you cannot find. The more Clock Springs that fail in Toyota the more people will find how poor Toyotas record is becoming in ignoring safety items. A Clock Spring is a small part in the steering wheel which is connected to the airbag. It costs $150-$250 for one. Toyota will install it for you for around $700- $800. The problem with the spring is poor quality or design. This pa...Read more
rt is a design fault & we do not know that if you do replace it, that it doesn't fail again in 12 months down the track. Two problems this is causing for the consumer. 1. You cannot sell your car as you cannot get a roadworthy certificate, because the airbag light stays permanently on. 2. If you have a crash & the airbag fails you might die. Toyota1 comment
Thanks Toyota for the recall. It was well appreciated. Jeff Barker

Bad.
Was assured by a salesman that the late model 2013 had its injector problems resolved.
Well it is my fault for actually listening to a sales man right?
3,500ks rattle became apparent. 7,000ks currently, much worse,
Dipshits at Toyota gave me fudged injector results and refused to repair them.
Been there three times.
Independently tested injectors and found the tolerances are much different to those given by Toyota, just inside spec though.
Go **** yourself Toyota you lying ****. I won't be lied to, this will end up in court once my injectors are out if spec in a few more ks.
Three stars for other models.
None for the 1kd-ftv piece of ****
Everything but motor
dipshits at dealer, motor.

A good ute marrred by a notchy / balky manual gearbox
Written on 5/10/2013.
2013 Toyota Hilux Workmate single cab chassis, 2.7 Litre petrol engine, Five speed manual gearbox., Table top tray.
Overall a good utility marred by a very poor performing manual gearbox that balks very heavily on the downshift from second to first gear rendering the downshift impossible until you slow to near stopped.
Even at 10km per hour the downshift is impossible to perform.
This has caused me several near misses when turning across the front of oncoming traffic.
The ute is only about three months old and has...Read more

Warning - Break Fault
Last week we had a serious near miss. The brakes failed completely on a Hilux causing the vehicle to travel through an intersection at speed. Luckily there were no other vehicles coming and the vehicle was eventually brought to a halt using the gears. Although this could have been catastrophic, no one was hurt and the vehicle has been repaired.

HI-LUXARY
Recently bought Toyota Hilux from AFS Landsvale team they were very helpful with the purchase of my new Toyota Hilux. They were very friendly and went out of there way to offer me a great deal on the trade in of my old car. They were also great with providing me with finance very quick. Just like to say thanks again very happy with my new Hilux.

Fantastic on or off road!
My hubby bought this 4 x 4 Ute and I had to pick it up for him form the dealers. I was not very excited about this new addition because to me it was just a new work ute. I was really surprised at first by how great it looked and then when I drove it I just fell in love with it.
I can't believe how much pick-up it has for driving around town, how comfortable the seats are and how many features (including Bluetooth for mobile to run through the radio/sound system) it has. This is by far the best ute we have ever had.... the only problem is that we now fight over who is driving it! lol
Quality, performance & features
Nothing!

Lives up to reputation -exellent car
This is my thrid DC 4x4 Diesel Hilux. If toyota keep on making them that is what I will drive. The current one has done 10 years work in 2 years (172 000 on clock) without ever missing a beat. Yes it get serviced on time. Maitland Toyota absolutely the best if have ever seen. Yes it is a bit bumpy but just fit a slightly bigger tyre and it makes a huge improvement. Yes the turning circle is bigger than a sedan but a sedan does not take a 1000 kg load and drives very awkward on the beach. Enough space in the back not ultra luxury but good enough...Read more
. Can fit much more in the tray than in the boot of a sedan, all the camping gear, the concrete for the weekend back yard jobs, garden rubbish, quick transport of something large. Good on fuel 9.5 km/l. `Enough power just put it in 5 gear engage the speed controller and sit back enjoying the ride. Enough space in the rear to have a emergency sleep over when tired - done it travelling form Maitland to Mt Isa and back (did this trip 5 times). Not a lot of fancy buttons and goodies (that brakes Like a Pathfinder - had one never again) just basic controls good honest and easy to operate - do not need a computor degree to understand. But if I turn the ingnition key she runs non stop, up hill, down hill, in the sand, in the city and in the bush. By the way it is a good hunting vehicle too. Reliable everything on this car works never had any issues not off road or on roadSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

i boughtv this hilux brand new, in january 2011,great on the road, but in the bush, i cant beleive how poorv it is compared to my 2000 toyota, slips slides struggles on high terrain etc.but my worst complaint is that when i tow my boat which is only a tinnie, and i want to start on a hill and take off, the clutch smels bad, also when i back up a hill parking my trailer for work, which only carries 300kilos,the clutch smels bad too.Ihad it serviced and the dealership in healesville assured me that it is all within specifications .also decided to pu...Read more

Great on space, speed, fuel economy & safety
Never been a 4WD person until we started traveling with our pets. We use this car & put the dogs in the back with a canopy (great air ventilation) to travel long distances - gives then plenty of space to move around & we dont get dog hair in the car. Its also great when we take them to the beach they can jump in the back of the car & again the sand cleans out easily. We now have a baby, 2 dogs, & a cat that we travel with & still able to fit in all the luggage & a 47l car frige. Being turbo diesel - no skimping on guts either, easy to overtake ...Read more
anything with & also tows well. Very roomy, good fuel economy, easy to drive - great for our expanding family. Was hard to find good seat covers for it - ending up getting over the internet from wetseat covers. Also being a marketed as a work vehicle even though the SR5 is the top of the range for a hilux the interior isn't very fancy.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Toyota says its normal and by all the forums it appears that they are correct. Damn it! Nothing that can fix it other than replacement of the injectors. Its a pain in the backside and Toyota will not replace them so I have to put up with them (Issued masked with better stereo installed - With Reverse camera, which was actually one of the best accessories that have been fitted to date.Everything going fine, apart from one unbelievably annoying rattle from whats been diagnosed as the Pilot Injectors. At 1950 RPM the rattle starts and by god its annoying.... Read more
