Awesome car love it
I bought my 2014 model SR auto, diesel in 2014 and have done 55,000km. It gives me 800k out of a 65 liter tank in the city.
U can treat it as rough as u like and it loves it.
They don't have the highest horse power engine but it does me and my 850kg camper trailer just fine.

Is reliable
Got a 2013 sr5 update model. Does everything it supposed to do. Not as fast as some other 4wd's but im happy with it and at the time it was the 2nd cheapest of the popular 4wd's. The gps and reverse camera are a good idea cause im crap at parking and I got no sense of direction

Awesome ute. A little primitive compared to other cars in class
Good Tough Work ute, Get about 600 to 650 K's out of 65 litre tank. Dashboard is tacky but simple like the driver. 130,000 k's on clock now. Good size inside. Don't flog it and you don't have problems. Same as all cars. As ute is safety pack the over sized brakes and ABS are awesome. Wrapped and good for another couple years. A good Fourby. After mate bought current shape Hilux and very disappointed, next ute may be a D Max as friends and co workers are very happy with the Izuzu's.

Disgrace
I have a 2015 SR. It is a total disgrace. First gear is useless, grinds whenever I tr and use it. Doesn't have the tray carry capacity they claim it has. Has the up and go of a 2 stroke lawn mower. Will think twice before buying another Toyota, despite being a fan for many years.

Can't really complain
Honestly this car runs perfect only problem in 50000 kms were warped rotors which got fixed under warranty at Llewellyn Toyota (good people) interior is a bit simple and out dated, standard Tyers are too small. Good interior space compared to other competitors. Good fuel consumption. Love the stereo Bluetooth system.

I should've thrown my 50k in the bin
Bought a 2013 manual sr5 diesel hilux from Brian Hilton Toyota after owning a single cab hilux for 7 years. After 10,000k's the clutch needed replacing and again at 40,000k's and now again at 75,000k's. It also needs new injectors. I've only ever used it on the freeway and I'm half afraid to tow anything because of the clutch issues. Everytime I've taken it to the dealership I've been made to feel like it's my fault and it's a hassel for them to fix it. Needless to say I won't be buying another Toyota.

Perfect for the Territory!
My husband and I bought this car because we live in the Territory which has rough roads and needs a 4x4. This car gives me the comfort I'm used to and makes those dangerous roads much safer. I always thought a big ute would be noisy but it's quiet and the reversing camera makes it so easy to park. We love it!

Very reliable
I own an '08 sr single cab (bought new) 4x4 3.0l turbo diesel (manual) use it on a daily basis and get 500klm per tank towing an 8x5 tandem trailer for work, still gets 650klm per tank non towing. Have not had any major problems just ticked over 160k on the odometer, apart from the Toyota paid recalls and usual water pump replacement (my mechanic says he has done a few on these now) these are bullet proof. Still has original clutch too.
I bought the misses a '14 sr5 dual cab (bought new) 4x4 3.0l turbo diesel (auto) in December last year as ...Read more
her commodore wagon died and it was an absolute no brainer. Very safe for the family with side curtain airbags and EBD / VSC etc etc. 5 speed auto is great too for towing as we tow a 21ft caravan a few times a year and does it with ease. Her dual cab gets 700-750 klm per tank non towing which is about 100klm better than the v6 commodore we had, the only bad thing about the new lux is we fight about who's going to drive it!!!!!!!! Has just ticked over 20k and no probs. I also believe it's the way you drive these utes too, they are not a petrol hatch / sedan / wagon and you have to adjust your driving style for this. I still let the turbo cool down for a few minutes on the daily drive (and tell the misses too also) after heavy towing / more than 2-3 hrs straight driving. They are a 4 cylinder motor not a v8 diesel like the old man just bought (200 series landcruiser). Now these things have some grunt!!!! But 30k more too............ I have only read brief reports on the "new hilux" yet to see any reviews yet about 3.5 tonne towing ability / new motors etc etc. Agreed with the few other reviews I've read, maybe we have been lucky to not get a lemon from new, but keeping in mind the purchased option of the 6 year extended warranty, it would be in the manufacturers best interest to have reliability in mind. You get what you pay for I reckon. Oh well might get that land cruiser one day.....................Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Is this really a car, or did i just buy a golf buggy???
Last year i was seriously injured as my brakes on my brand new Toyota failed. I ended dup in hospital for a month and in coma for 2 days. I thought it was just a one off so i bought a Toyota after my accident, and month later the engine broke down. This was very upsetting since everyone brags on how amazing Toyota is. I am going to spread the word not to buy a Toyota. Not to mention my uncle's Toyota, the wheel was flat after a week of driving on smooth roads.

not great
2013 Hilux 140,000 kms do not like it, Stereo unit is rubbish, phone drops off unexpectedly then will not reconnect, iPod will not connect unless I turn Ute off and restart, only 2 x lap and diagonal seat belts in the back, gear box has long throws and hard to get from 5th to 4th some times, no reverse sensors or camera, glove box tiny, catch hand on cruise control button when turning, under powered, uneconomical, clutch shudders when cold, power bulge in bonnet reduces vision, no power jacks in rear for kid's iPods, phones etc., temp reading o...Read more
n dash 2 degrees out all the time, rear suspension can not handle bumps mid corner, power mirror switch in wrong place should be able to reach without moving in seat, 4wd engage system antiquated for a 2013 model this is just way behind the times.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Great Cars
Purchased the car used and had done 75000 kms with full service history. Had it now for about 6 months and has never missed a beat. Been in friends single cab ute 4x4s and none of them are as comfortable and spacious as the hilux. Been off road many times and keeps up with lifted cruisers and patrols. Great on fuel. Stereo system is great. Tray space is great. Would buy another one in a heartbeat.

work horse
Hilux petrol workmate. have done 30,000k from new, so far no issues at all. Fuel consumption slightly above average, but it depends how you drive .Work mate was chosen for its reliability and good re sale value when it is time for me to upgrade. Primary a work vehicle but the following additions would make life a lot easier such as intermittent wipers and central locking. So far very happy with the vehicle.

Brilliant
I have a base model 2015 SR diesel, it is the best car I have ever owned. 715 kms out of a tank towing or not, I have a 2.4 ton boat and it towed it like it's not there, if I was a multi millionaire I would not change my ride, love it! Only pitfalls is Toyota Link - crap and stereo sound- crap, no colour but white available and no choice of interior colours.

Unbreakable or unbearable
Nice to drive, looks ok, the rear seat doesn't fold forward, losing lots of good storage, front speakers only, poor for a 2014 unit. The biggest disappointment is the power or lack of, couple up the caravan,1400 kg, what a pathetic effort up slow lanes or even worse a mountain, Toyota are way behind, a work vehicle, what a joke,so high geared and a crap clutch, why do they sell so many, certainly my last one.

Overpriced, ugly, noisy & uncomfortable
A 2012 V6 Hilux is the most expensive & overpriced V6 ute I've ever seen. No wonder they couldn't sell them & took them off the market. Absolutely nothing justifies the extra $10,000 Holden used to charge for the Colorado/Rodeo. Ugly, uncomfortable bench seat that wasn't advertised - photos on Toyota website clearly showed bucket seats. Response from Toyota when questioned about this - NONE. Apart from the V6 motor there is nothing good about this ute & it was bought only because there was no other V6 on the market. Toyota service tried chargin...Read more
g $40 to replace a bulb when the ute was only 8 months old, don't bother replying to online booking requests or calling when service is finished. Completely underwhelmed by this horrible ute. Warranty repair agreed to then booked & when picking up ute told it hasn't been done. Service is as lousy as this piece of **** ute. Truly mystified as to how anyone could think Toyota make quality vehicles.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

2011 toyota hilux 4 litre.
4 litre motor is powerful but extremely heavy on fuel and noisey while idling and driving. My sr has only done 46000 k and sounds like a chaff cutter when warmed up and idling. Toyota by this stage should be producing trouble free cars. Never buy another one.

The Gladiator Of The 4X4 World
These utes are unbelievable they drive like a family car and pull like a tank. There's no stopping them they are so comfortable, it kills any other ute I have come up against. I work in the mines and we have all makes of utes. The rangers are nice but kept smashing out the front suspension, Navara's kept getting bogged and Bitsaremissin were dissapointing. Loved the Hilux so much I bought an SR5. All the other negative comments on here are just tossers, try all the others like I have then you will see the light

Öh what a feeling (reaming)
Toyota Australia - You are a joke a recall for the Hilux due to a fault in the spiral coil in the steering - My car has a fault in the spiral coil yet they are not replacing it because its a different part number (my car has stereo controls on steering) They want $600 for the part which I can buy OEM for $120. I have spent the last 3 weeks on the phone to their "helpline only to be messed around "by disinterested teenagers who cant get their facts straight. Toyota Australia your behaviour is pathetic and you are putting peoples safety at risk with this unconscionable behaviour.

Reliable Safe and Tough
I use my hilux for work and I am on my second hilux and lets face if this ute has a hard life when I'm driving it and when one of my apprentices drive it even harder
it's great on fuel economy which is deisiel the service costs are reasonable and I always take it back to the dealer for the services .the ute carries a lot of materials as I'm in the landscaping game and the tray can take heavy loads and a bashing with tools overall a good sterdy work car
