Good Ute. :) But needs more power.
Reliable 4x4 ute. :) Bit slow, but snorkel and extractors opened it up so it would sit on 110kms on the highway, but not much faster than that. Mine has 300,000kms and still goes strong.
Yes, i would buy another. But would go for the V6 or 3ltr turbo diesel just for that extra over taking power vehicles.

Toyota Hilux 2017 SR5 TRD - Top of the Range
Amazing car - had it for more than 6 months and drives beautiful. Very proud owner of the TRD. I see people talk about fuel and all - they should get a smaller car like a Yarris or something - you can't eat your cake and have it too.
I am happy with the service and product.

Great vehicle to own
I'm a Toyota man. My whole family is. Come to my house and you'll think you're in a Toyota car yard! This is my second lux (2014 SR5 TD dual cab) and I'm very happy with the look, feel and economy. It's my first diesel ever but after I got used to the "noise" I was fine. I get about 600 kms to a tank mostly city/suburban driving. My wife has a horse so she packs the back with her junk. I seldom get to drive it! My first lux was 2006 petrol, dual cab with a hard lid. That was a hassle with camping and carting around the horsey stuff. We...Read more
sold it to get a Camry for my wife when I retired. This one has a canopy which we both find more useful all around. I've only had it services once per the manual and nothing has gone wrong. I would reccomend in a heartbeat.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Rust on diff and chassis
Bought a new 2016 hulix sr5 took hunting once rust on diff and chassis Toyota said environmental damage chassis and diff not painted enough I will take the matter to current affairs. They asked me do I take the Ute to the beach and park the Ute at the beach, off course I go to the beach with family. Do you want me to leave the Ute in the garage and catch a train to the beach.

Id get another
My first 2wd Hilux workmate was a petrol one purchased in 2007. (purchased new for $20500)
The 3l turbo diesel is a much better engine, more torque and power at lower RPM and more economical.
I got if for $26500 brand new in the end of 2014, including heavy duty tray 2550 long and with a tow bar.
its a good plumbers work vehicle.
I do have 2 criticisms though,...the touchscreen Radio/head unit loses its touch function along the lower 10mm band on the bottom of the touch screen,...this happened at only 40,000kms and almost had me changing ...Read more
the unit out (at my cost as vehicle was over 3yrs old) because I couldn't connect my new phone via bluetooth. It intermittently corrects itself and I was able to input my new phone, but I have since discovered that this is a common fault with this model hilux. My only other criticism is that my always carrying around at least 5-600kgs of Jetblaster and tool boxes has flattened out the rear leaf springs too much and I'm looking at getting them re-sprung with 3 extra leafs at only 55,000kms. I was told at the suspension place that this is a common problem with all "1 tonne" utes that are constantly carrying up to or over half a tonne.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

New Hilux rust in chassis after 2 years and 15,000 kms only
I puchased a new Hilux single cab in October 2015 and it now has extensive rust in the chassis due to the fact according to the Corrosion report that I had done that the chassis and running gear eg tailshaft, diff housing etc has not been painted properly in the factory when the car was made in Sept 2015.
The paint on the chassis is only 30 micron,s thick and that is only where it has been painted.
The vehicle is still under warranty and has been back to the dealer and their reply to the rust problems was that is eviromental and is due to whe...Read more

Never Again
Shocking fuel economy (500 - 550 per tank) Took back to toyota & they put it on the computer & the verdict was nothing wrong. First tank of diesel after getting 670Km. Put your foot down with power button on & the motor is revving like you wouldn't believe but has no power what so ever. Will never buy another Toyota & wishing had bought a DMax a lot cheaper

Good solid ute
Hilux drove well, under powered in today’s market but solid enough to do the job. Comfy to sit In for long drives, road noise quite low, reasonable price to service, fuel useage acceptable being 10lts per 100kms, interior one of if not be best quality as in no rattles or panels coming out over rough roads etc. not the market leader for tech In cab but all in all good vehicle.

Not the best hilux released
Bought new 2015 sr5 2 Years ago to replace 2009 sr5 hilux and am not impressed at all. Uses 30% more fuel than advised no matter what driving conditions proven by 13500km of fuel receiptslodged with toyota. Already had failed rear diff and water pump at 32000km. Very little 4wd use but “safety features” make it impossible to drive in sand. Spent 6 weeks in total so far at toyota with no clues on cause of poor performance. Won’t be buying another new toyota any time soon. Only upgraded for legal towing capacity.
Stick with mk7 version. I hate my mk8
Also won’t engage 6th gear under any driving conditions unless your doing over 140kmh
57000km in and I’d prefer to drive my old hilux any day

two tray petrol hilux
Best thing i have ever bought.always have had old holdens they told me to test drive one .I was surprised I thought Japanese shot. But I must admit it works hard.it carry heavy loads as good as the holden brakes stops with a load read well.it always has half ton on board it gets 180 ks more out of the same amount of fuel as the old holden. Really happy wouldn't be with out it.it a Japanese ute but it's good no wonder holden and Ford couldn't compete.

Worth every single dollar!
The Toyota 8th generation Hilux is the best Ute Toyota has produced by far. It is so smooth driving with little to no noise. The interior is luxury and very spacious with very handy little accessory’s like the cup holder and Bluetooth system. I purchased the car 6 months ago and so far have had no issues.

On Par SR5
Overall I am happy with my Hilux. Notwithstanding the fact that it isn’t the most powerful in its class or the roomiest, after coming out of my 2002 lux, I’ve got nothing serious to complain about.
The vehicle is just over 14 months old with 30,000km on it and touch wood, is going well with none of the tail shaft=problems etc that plagued it to begin with. I can’t comment on the stock suspensions as I had a gvm upgrade out of the blocks. If you are 6 foot 6, this is not your Ute. I am fine as I am only 173cm but that’s why there are test drive...Read more

Great car
Purchased brand new Toyota Hilux workmate utility with tray. Great vehicle runs really well, very reliable and very fuel efficient. Use this on our hobby farm around the paddocks and bush tracks and covers terrain really well. Also handles well on the road. Comfortable interior making it good for long trips.

Good but far from perfect
Bought my SR5 A/T in Aug 2016, now touching 40,000 kms. Half motorway and half city drive, fitted secondary filter from new and oil catch can from 30,000kms. Used to have DPF white smoke problems before 20,000. Dealer update ECU then it’s rarely happen. 10.5L around town and 9.3L on cruising. Transmission usually has a clunk when shifting from P to R. No other problems so far. A little disappointment to Toyota because they used to produce totally trouble free vehicles and now they just involve in any kinds of problems. If just want a tough and ...Read more
reliable truck, then the Dmax might be a better choice. July 3rd 2018 Update: Not too bad but not a bullet proof Lux anymore Bought my brand new SR5 in 2016, compared to my previous trouble free Toyota, this one is not good enough. Fuel consumption is high, average 10.2L/100 even on highway cruising(worse than my VW Touareg, which is 3.0 with 2 more cylinders and heavier weight.....). Used to have DPF problems, dealer did the software upgrade, I think they just bring the self gen temp little bit down, still helpless for most owners. Just noticed when it is doing the DPF regen, its idling speed at N/P will be little bit higher than normal, and it smells like burning rubber from the exhaust, while EGT is obviously higher than normal. It may take time and you can simple keep rev at least 3000 rpm to blow the white soot out( like a smoke screen, horrible...). That’s the price you pay when you own a modern diesel. The car used to shake when shifting from P to R, dealer lub the tail shaft to solve the problem. The transmission always fall from 6th to 5th on the highway(someone said it was because the 5th injectors needs more fuel to helping biting the DPF,not sure) . only driven for 45000kms now, can’t tell the injector would have any problems like the 1Kd yet. I believe that Toyota built this new 2.8 D4D motor well or it will be a large humiliation for them.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Beautiful car with a phenominal driving experience. All of the features are useful and very user-friendly.

Fantastic Vehicle
The performance of our Toyota HiLux has been absolutely amazing- we had so many issues with our (Brand new, off the lot) Jeep that we left the brand to buy a Toyota. The Eco mode can be used almost all the time, except for serious off-roading, which the truck has handled incredibly well. It has been our most reliable car yet- no maintenance issues at all and the gas mileage for a truck is really good.

Great ute after 15months
My first ute and so far so good but I have a few complaints.
The reverse camera takes a while to display after starting, the GPS is not user friendly! Once you have reached your destination, parked, restart and leave for another destination it keeps directing you back to your original destination. Sometimes it displays "have you reached your destination" but this is rare! I prefer to use a dial to control the volume as it is faster. I prefer to have the GPS display set on default but cannot do this. The side mirrors cannot be set to automat...Read more
ic folding. I also have a 2016 AUDI Q7 and the Germans seem to have their system perfected. Much more user friendly. I have the hard tonneau cover and tray protector. It is great but you need 2 people to remove (5 minutes - 1 x electrical connector, 2 x L pins and 2 x gas struts). The issue is the remote locking mechanism occasionally plays up when you remove and install the hard cover. As a work vehicle - this is great. No issues after 15 months with 25000Kms. Economy is 11.2L/100km city driving. Feels very solid and have loaded the vehicle with pallets, fridges, machinery, marketing display etc and all good. Works well with the trailer. Would I buy this again in a few years time - YES!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Tough and Durable
We brought the Toyota SR5 in 2005. this purchase has been amazing. The vehicle has always been a strong kicker, had a few minor hiccups but once repaired, no further problems. 13 years later this car has gone through hell being a fleet vehicle. and it is still holding strong, had a few tricky issues with the internal cab fan but again fixed twice and no problems,
This 2005 model will go on forever with expected maintenance for its age.
