2016 200 series VX, great for towing terrrible for comfort

published

Sure it has great pulling power but our y62 patrol is hands down a better vehicle on the tarmac we only tow and never go off-road so cant compare in that space but the steering in the landcruiser is bloody heavy and ever so slight vibration that comes through the steering wheel causes discomfort in arms. Ive had it from new towed a boat to QLD and 2 weeks later i still have an aching arm, never get these issues from our nissan as soon as practice (when its a year old) im going to sell it hopefully the success of the dodge ute will bring other big capable tow vehicles giving us a choice other than toyota. The nissan when towing the range of travel avail is a let down but choice of driving id take my wife's patrol 9 times out of 10.

Perfect vehicle - pure luxury

published

Bought a 2016 Sahara twin turbo diesel. By far the most superior Landcruiser we have owned. Exceptionally comfortable on long trips. Very happy with the power and performance on road and off road. Touch screen is easy to navigate. Warns you of school zones/ red light cameras etc. Highly recommend this vehicle. Pure luxury.

I have a 2016 Sahara and my old iPhone 6 use to connect perfectly and incoming text messages would pop up on my screen but now have the iPhone 6 Plus and my text messages won't show up on the screen like it use to. I don't have message settings on the screen (can't remember if it previously did)

Fuel economy

published

I found fuel usage of my 2008 Sahara around 12L/100km. That's with BFG types, ARB bull bar, Longrange tank and drawers, 3 inch exhaust.
I would expect the new model to be be better. I'd be interested to hear from others. The new model has a .5 improvement on fuel.

Very good but could be improved

published

Just sold my 2013 Landcruiser 200 VX after 65000 stress free kilometers and was blown away by resale value. Mine was really quiet inside for a V8 and we found it very comfortable. Although mine was used daily it proved to be an excellent tow vehicle (3T caravan) with reliability that exceeded my expectations. My only suggestion would be Toyota should look at the VW Bluetooth system as mine was pretty ordinary when compared to the wife's VW. Nevertheless I am taking possession of my new VX soon because once you have had one, you will know why it is called "King of the Road".

Love the car - Tow 3 ton Caravan

published

I am currently looking at reviews for my son who is thinking of buying a work horse. Have read many reviews on many cars, it appears to me that all cars have a lottery associated to it, as how it is going to perform. To balance some of the comments made about the Landcruiser 200 series, I've had mine from new. (2013). I've done 85k. I have not had any problems with it at all. Comfortable and tows my 3 Ton van with ease. Love this car.

Just seen in one of the reviews that someone paid $95k for a GXL. I went to a few dealers on the gold coast and I was quoted ridiculous numbers for a VX. I went back to our usual dealer Oldmac in Springwood and as usual I got a great deal (i think) i got my VX for $94k. I don't work for or have anything to do with these guys but honestly we have now bought our tenth vehicle over eight years from them between Mazdas and Toyota and no other dealership has ever come even close to their prices. Highly recommended excellent no pressure service. Which when it comes to car buying it's truly rare. Pat Flynn.

A few few teething problems, but happy in the end

published

What's with no audio or phone controls on the steering, and the fuel consumption is nothing like it says on the sticker. That said the vehicle drives well, has heaps of power and just cruises the many highway kilometres that I do. I presume the next release of the GXL will have the gadgets expected in this price range.

High fuel use

published

Anyone that says a v8 3 tonne 4wd only uses 11 litres per 100 is a liar. I get 15 litre per hundred not towing and about 25 litres per hundred towing a 2t van---great vehicle, can't fault it apart from how thirsty it is. Toyota said its normal. The figures of less than 20 litres per hundred when towing are going down hill in neutral with engine off.

Overall it is awesome but no audio controls on Steering Wheel - big time retrograde step from earli

published

Absolutely love the car ( 18,000 kms in 4 months).
Comfortable,quieter,much better economy,hate the radio/hands-free operation.
The volume/on/off control is on the left hand side of the radio and with no steering wheel controls you have to actually look to ensure you reach the button.
You can buy a Yaris with steering wheel controls for under $20k!!
What a joke!
The use of the radio controls whilst driving is unsafe!!

Seat problem 2014 Toyota Landcruiser Sahara

published

Bought a New Sahara in 2014. From the first two weeks a lump formed in the seat and when I asked about it I was informed they would replace the seat cover for me. This was done only to find that another lump formed in the seat, similar to the last. After two years now and a lot of patience and visits to the dealers, (who were very good to me) having all seat covers replaced, I spoke directly to Toyota who have informed me that it is in the design and there is nothing more that they can do. Appart from a very ordinary Gps, the vehicle does perform well.

LandCruiser 200 Mark II 4.5L Twin-Turbo Diesel VX (2012-2020)

I have an issue with my 2018 LC 20 VX model and radio and Bluetooth having no sound. Here’s what happens
Currently - no sound at all coming through. This effects the radio and whilst the phone does connect to Bluetooth, there is no sound coming out of that either.
Previously - there has been static coming from the speakers. It is very random and can ‘crackle’ at any time, then goes quiet, then crackles again.
Occasionally - At times it just switches on and everything works.
Toyota have replaced the head unit and zero change. I just picked it up from Toyota today for attempt #4 and the technician says there are ‘no problems with wiring or speakers’ however I still have no sound
Any help/advice would be wonderful.

how to fix a clove box lid from opening

The glove box handle pulls the latches into both sides of the glove box door/cover . These sometimes jam in because of dust or debris, and have to be coaxed out, but gently. A little lubrication helps them work better. It is not advisable to try to crack open the door as they are stuck together very well.

I have a 2011 gx, and got it remapped recently after buying it about 8 months ago, and the readout said that it only has 165kw after the remap and 140 before, I thought 200kw was standard

Ask an Agent or look in tbe manual, usually available on line

Stewart P.

200kw is at the engine. When you allow for drive-line losses you get 140kw as measured at the tyres

165kw is measured at the tyres.

Dont feel bad, The Y62 Patrol is 297kw at the engine and yet was 163kw at the tyres AFTER a tune.
