Trustworthy comfortable transport
We sold our near New XC 90 Volvo to purchase our 2nd hand 2008 Prado so we could travel around Australia, we were going to sell it after twelve months travel and purchase another Volvo, we are so happy wit comfort and reliability of this vehicle that we will be updating to a new one when we return. The Prado we purchased had 240000 K.s on the clock and still runs like new

Landcruiser 20 Vx Model
I traded my LC 200 Anniversary Edition which had 66,000K on the clock.
So I have now purchased the VX model, which has a lot more Bells and Whistles.
Again Toyota LandCruisers are absolutely Awesome Machines.
Do they have a downside, yes they are difficult to park in tight car parks. But that is a small negative compared to the magnificent on road performance.
I use the LC200 VX to tow my 2 Horse Float with Kitchen and bed etc. it goes up the challenging steep Toowoomba Range like it has nothing on the back.
I always feel secure in the car with and without the Horse Float.
Final word Absolutely Amazing Machine, which have amazing resale value.

Toyota always
Super easy to drive and from inside very quiet and smooth
Would like more cubby holes to stash those necessary bits and pieces
Totally reliable, but it is almost new so should be. Running costs acceptable uses a little extra fuel when towing a caravan. Very pleased with the overall performance of this car I am sure this one will give us the same amazing service that all out past ones have.

Very average for the money.
The vehicle lacks Carrying capacity without a GVM upgrade load capacity is limited to approx 560kg depending on the weighbridge ticket for the vehicle in an unladen state with all fluids and a full tank of fuel, known as the kerb weight. The kerb weight nominally claimed by Toyota is 2,740kg accross the entire range. Which of course is an impossibility. for instance the GXL has no KDSS suspension or sun roof etc. which should make it considerably lighter than the VX or Sahara models. My vehicle has a kerb weight of 2,790kg with full tank of fue...Read more
l, NOT 2740kg. The standard GVM for all vehicles in the range is 3,300kg: GVM minus the Kerb weight gives us the load carrying capacity 3,300kg - 2,790kg = 510kg or using Toyota's figures 3,300kg - 2,740kg = 560kg. The 200 series Landcruiser GXL is sold as an 8 seat Station wagon, so using the standard person weight of 75kg X 8 = 600kg. You are now illegal. (over weight by 40kg) that is based on their figures, NOTE NO luggage has been addded to the vehicle. My vehicle carrying capacity 3,300kg - 2,790kg = 510kg our 8 passengers at 75kg ea = 600kg I would be 90kg overloaded. I had the vehicles GVM upgraded prior to registration at a cost of approx $2,800. I have approached Toyota Australia with this issue asking the question, under Australian consumer law is the item fit for purpose? Without the GVM upgrade I would say not. Second request was for a refund of the cost to make the vehicle fit for purpose? The reply says the vehicle fully conforms to its intent and was compliant to the Australian Design Rules (ADR) at time of manufacture. they did not address the issue of fit for purpose and of course declined to provide any financial assistance. I guess it is a case for Consumer affairs to rule on. Meanwhile I imagine that most people using these vehicles foe towing and family camping would be seriously overloaded. In the case of an accident you would be uninsured. There are other serious safety issues with the GXL model such as the removal of any steering wheel controls for the touch screen radio phone connect, disconnect etc.

Greatest Ever.
All Landcruiser are at the top of the 4WD crew. Tows the dual axle boat trailer like its not there. I can not find much to fault on the vehicle at all. It drives better at 110 to 120 then it does at 100 km. The auto gearbox setting are not right or locked up till at least 110. Also slight steering noise at idle.
Ok 2 years have gone by. I love this car. After 10 thousand kms it has settled in nicely. In the bush or on the freeway it drives spot on.

What a great vehicle
Fitted a Tunit and just drove over 100 kms on cruise control and average 7.7 liters per 100 kms. Around town average 12l
Drives as if sitting in a comfortable armchair
Has so many driving aids that it practically drives itself
I loved my 80 series and 100 series but I don't miss them after driving the new one
Cannot fault it.

Prado 2016 GPS
Picked up brand new Prado in December 2016 being a 10/16 build but so disappointed with GPS. Travelling along the Pacific Highway thru the Kempsy by pass the GPS cancel s the route as it is not on the map. You have to reset your route most GPS systems just keep recalulating till it picks up a road. Doesnt have the road speeds displayed on screen either. It often tells you to turn when there is no road and never ever had a road. Very disappointing by Toyota and absolutely no help from Toyota to amend the issues. Shame on you, Toyota

We've waited a long time for this luxury
We have just bought a Toyota VX 200 series, we cannot express the joy we feel about the luxury. We thought it would have been heavier on diesel, but to our surprise it's the same as our old 80 series. We look forward to doing road trips now, so comfortable, with all the extras. Electric everything. We are planning to purchase a caravan in the next year or so - can't wait so we can tow it with our new VX around Australia

Beware poor quality control
I bought a new current model Landcruiser 200 series in late 2016. Within 6 months, the vehicle has extensive rust underneath, due to inadequate paint finish on the underbody of the vehicle. The factory paint job underneath was totally inadequate, and Toyota and the dealer refused to accept responsibility. They said the vehicle had been taken off-road. I thought that was the idea of buying a 4WD. The vehicle has not been in harsh conditions, merely driven on dirt roads and one visit to the beach, driving on dry sand. Very disappointed with the factory quality control and the company's response.

Love it! Sahara forever!
Very comfy ride (Just like a air suspension S class Merc) Power for this car should be measured in Elephant power, not horse power coz it pulls like an elephant. Gives me 9-11l per 100 on the highway and 12-16l/100 in the city. Have had it for 15 months and no issues with DPF or vibrations that others mentioned of for the older models upto the 2015 models.
The 4 cameras makes driving and parking the vehicle in tight spots a breeze! The Cooler/Fridge holds about 12 cans of 300ml drink cans. My kids love the 2 screens in the back (have a PS4...Read more
connected to it :D) Sound system is not bad (non JBL version). But I have upgraded the speakers to the Focal's direct swap Toyota integration series and now it sounds even better. Wish the disk player could handle BlueRay as well as the cheaper Prado's have the option, but not a deal breaker. Service only costs $220 (capped price for the first 3 years) at the Toyota dealer. Cant think of anything bad to say about it really.. Oh, i wish it had the ride height control that the lexus model has, coz that'd make climbing into the cabin for shorter and older individuals a pleasant experience :)Similar opinion? Does what it should
The big v8 is a sweet drive. Nowhere near ADR for consumption (9.9 combined), have been getting 9.8l/100klm on the highway and about 14.5l/100klm around town. So combined would average about 12-12.5l/100klm. Still pretty good for a 2.7 tonne car and I guess will get better as time goes on as I still only have 8000klms on it. Pulls our 19ft caravan no worries, consumption around 17l/100klm when travelling on highways at 100-105klm.

are easily cleaned, and the bigger satnav screen for ease of navigation (thought the one in the GLX was way too small), and ease of vision with the reverse camera. Satnav works really well, been to Sydney 3 times and driven around the city to various spots no worries. Seats are comfy for driver and passengers. Will remove the two extra seats in the back to give more storage room for my sailing and surfing gear. Good vision all around through windows and behind with the camera, and good parking collision warnings with sensors. Overall, easy to drive, vision is excellent, throttle response is tight considering the size of everything, mind you in eco mode it is sluggish around town, so we only use eco on the highway. Love it, everything works like you would expect it to. No hesitation in recommending for someone who needs a quality tow vehicle or a bigger car to carry the family and gear.Similar opinion? Landcruiser benefits
Purchased landcruiser primarily for its towing and safety capabilities. This is our fourth landcruiser and we have always found them reliable and felt safe driving them and comfortable at the same time. The interior is spacious and the driver and passengers have plenty of room with regards to comfort. Although the dashboard is well laid out we feel that the hands free phone controls should be more easily accessed while driving ei oln the steering wheel. For the size of the vehicle and the motor the economy is good.

love the car in every way except for the lack of room for anything such as uhf radios, and storage space to store gear such as recovery gear, so I had to go buy a drawn system and fit that into the back of th car, also the power or cigarete socket in the rear of the car uses too light a guage wiring!

Great road or tow vehicle
April 2016 purchase, build 2/16.
Performance is very good - power to spare. Upgraded suspension (ARB grade 2 upgrade, $3500) excellent on and off road and increases legal GVM to 3560kg. Needed if you have a heavy tow bar weight, full fuel tanks, 2 people, luggage, etc.
Noise good - in this car you can travel 1000k and still feel refreshed. For bitumen and gravel its outstandingly comfortable. Fuel consumption OK for a big 4WD but nothing like Toyota claim - best is 12.5L/100Km at 95-100 on expressway.
But we use ours for serious off road ...Read more

Room for improvement
Bad points,- Gps/entertainment system is hopeless! . My little 10 year old garmin outperforms it. There is no steering wheel controls(even my wifes corola has them). The vehicle has built in tow bar but does not come with wiring harness which means the rear side panels and rear seats have to be removed to fit.(Surely it is legally required in all countries to have trailer lights on all trailers, and surely it is more cost effective to be done during the assembly process. ually had deposits of soot on the back door, also suffered smoking problems.Dealer had to change injectors after carrying out tests required by Toyota. This all happened soon after first service, (This is not an isolated case, my sons vehicle had problems when driving home from dealer after purchase, also had injectors replaced). Vehicle suffered major dust problems when driven offroad. ( so bad i could not read dash, dust was throughout vehicle,, dealer adjusted doors, have not tested since.) GXL dash instrumentation is lacking badly even compared to the lower grade corola . Good points- powerfull, best tow vehicle available, comfortable, good fuel economy (10.2 L/100k distance highway driving, 18.2 L/100 towing 20ft van. Fantastic headlights, brakes, handling and offroad ability.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

GPS is disappointing
Picked up car last Tues and went for a quick run around Southern WA, great car to drive but very disappointed in the factory GPS. Maps don't show a lot of the streets, etc. in country towns, even minor sealed roads in country areas are not shown, Routes and Points of interest on GPS cannot be accessed whilst vehicle is moving, causing a lot of grief for my navigator, hence i had to stop every time she wanted to make changes, etc. No visual display on current speed limits or other info. Now looking for a 3rd party system that will work, shouldn't have to do this on a vehicle that is close to $120k. Also can't access the music that's on my mobile phone, both my Jeep and Mazda win hands down in this and GPS.

TOYOTA LC200 Land Cruiser May 2008
Purchased 3/10 from Llewellyn Motors, Ipswich, QLD with $46,600 k's on the clock.
Very comfortable to drive- no fatigue at days end.
More towing power than we will ever use ( Tow a 2 tonne camper trailer at around 95 - 100 k's with engine doing around 1700 revs)
Just wish 6th gear would kick in at 95 - 98 k's instead of 102k's.

2016 GXL Hands Free Electrical Noise
The car is great with the exception of the stereo. I have tried several iphones (5, 6 & 7) and all people I am talking to can barely hear me over an electrical buzzing noise. Toyota have replicated the problem and are investigating. Possibly a problem in the series as the car the tested against also had the problem. Going to install a new head unit soon??? but I am not confident this is going to fix. Also very poor on Toyotas part for not having hands free controls on the steering wheel.

I have an issue with my 2018 LC 20 VX model and radio and Bluetooth having no sound. Here’s what happens
Currently - no sound at all coming through. This effects the radio and whilst the phone does connect to Bluetooth, there is no sound coming out of that either.
Previously - there has been static coming from the speakers. It is very random and can ‘crackle’ at any time, then goes quiet, then crackles again.
Occasionally - At times it just switches on and everything works.
Toyota have replaced the head unit and zero change. I just picked it up from Toyota today for attempt #4 and the technician says there are ‘no problems with wiring or speakers’ however I still have no sound
Any help/advice would be wonderful.

how to fix a clove box lid from opening
1 answer
The glove box handle pulls the latches into both sides of the glove box door/cover . These sometimes jam in because of dust or debris, and have to be coaxed out, but gently. A little lubrication helps them work better. It is not advisable to try to crack open the door as they are stuck together very well.

I have a 2011 gx, and got it remapped recently after buying it about 8 months ago, and the readout said that it only has 165kw after the remap and 140 before, I thought 200kw was standard
2 answers
Ask an Agent or look in tbe manual, usually available on line
200kw is at the engine. When you allow for drive-line losses you get 140kw as measured at the tyres
165kw is measured at the tyres.
Dont feel bad, The Y62 Patrol is 297kw at the engine and yet was 163kw at the tyres AFTER a tune.
