Quality is poor and customer service unresponsive
I bought the vegepod and was really excited to build it with my 6 year old son. We had bought all the saplings and mulch in anticipation of getting this garden up and and running in a day. We got to the last piece building the trolley but unfortunately we couldn't put the last wheel on the trolley. Turns out the thread on the "Angled trolley support" doesn’t take the thread on the castor wheel - so there was no joining the pieces or completing the trolley.
Next I started to build the vegepod itself thinking it would be good to get this up a...Read more
nd running. alas the rubber strip they supply to join the base together was all twisted and doesn't fit in the groove. The whole thing is typical Made in China and I'd say the quality control isn't the best. I called them straight away and then emailed them on the Friday but still haven't got a response 5 days later. Pretty poor service. I had one disappointed son and a vegepod only 1/4 complete.1 comment

Best way to successfully grow
I have successfully grown many foods in my vegepod where I’d previously failed in garden beds... Awesome product that made this non gardener into happy gardener. My cauliflower is magnificent, my spinach abundant, my coriander and much more so easy to grow. I bought a medium first, followed by a large soon after, and will be buying more soon. Wonderful invention that removes the obstacles to gardening, couldn’t be happier

It's a really great gardening system, even North of 60!
We bought 6 Vegepods in the spring, and we've set them up on our rooftop terrace here in Whitehorse. We took great pains to set them on the watering system, and with a few hiccups along the way, we managed to get them planted by the time it was warm enough for our plants. I wish I could post a photo so that you could see, but we planted on June 14th, and the photo I would like to include is from July 3rd. We are very happy so far. The proof of the pudding will come when we have to store them for the winter, and take them out again next spring, as to their durability. Winters can be pretty nasty on steel and plastic. Will keep you posted.

Great to hear Patricia. Would love to see the pics indeed. Can you please post on our vegepod facebook page or perhaps the Vegepod Owners FB page (not run by us). This sounds an amazing set up. Thanks, Simon.

Follow-up review. Love it!
I just love this Vegepod, I planted seeds on Saturday and in just 2 days later the seeds have sprouted already, I also planted other herbs and they have nearly doubled in size. My cousin did not like or want to garden because of the problems with her back and knees but to my surprise she participated in the planting and also has expressed how much she likes it.

Some issues, but love it overall
Everything so far has been great. I got tons of germinating seedlings that have been growing extremely well. The only problem I've had is the tubing connected to the misters doesn't stay connected. The plastic clamps provided don't do very much unfortunately. Often times I've gone inside after turning on the hose to here a pop and notice water coming out of the tubing destroying my carrots. I think it would be cool if you could include adjustable misters so me could increase or decrease their flow.
All in all, after getting some metal hose clamps, it works amazing and I can't wait to enjoy home grown vegetables.

A great asset to any garden
Appears to be well thought out & very durable, heavy construction. The stand adds to the cost but is the only version to buy if you are a decrepit old fogie that doesn't bend so well. Also, do not ever consider moving it once established, weighs a ton!
Few items though; agree with Bill re the canopy anchors, very difficult to lock in, # make sure the units are aligned with all the drain holes on one side if you want to recycle water, # the drain holes are too small, especially if you get torrential rain as in the "Sunshine State", sometimes. ...Read more

Gday Art, there should be two big black and white stickers on two poles saying “use these at short ends”. It’s also noted in the paper instructions and on the website assembly videos.

We have been eating kale, greens and herbs since day 24, which was a month ago...
Purchased and assembled 3 large vegepods side by side, on the custom stands. They are easy to assemble, just take a little time. The 3 large units took 50 bags of organic raised bed soil, cow manure and perlite. Seeds germinated in as little 4 days. In south and central Florida, gardens are very difficult due to all of the pests and insects...a lot of pesticides are required if you expect any kind of harvest. These vegepods are great!!! No pests of any kind...I water once a day lightly, using rain water from my barrels. Fertilize with liquid kelp concentrated fertilizer, 4 oz to 2.5 gallons rain water, once every 10 - 14 days..... I wish I could post some pictures...you can see updates on

So far so good but I have a couple issues
I haven't planted it yet, but I managed to get it assembled nd it seems quite sturdy, but I'm having a couple of problems so far. First of all, one of the legs doesn't have enough black paint on it while another has quite a rough texture. My other issue is with the canopy anchors. I cannot get them to lock over the edge of the perimeter. I'm exerting a lot of force with the side of a screwdriver and still cannot get them to lock over the edge. So far, I only got one to lock into position. I may resort to trimming the edge of the perimeter to get them to lock in place.

A awesome family way to grow healthy home grown veggies
After many years of growing veggies using many different methods, some successful, some not,we discovered the Vegepod around three years ago.In our trials and errors we learnt that our soil quality, ph factor for each crop, and feeding of vigorous veggies at various stages, important. We also learnt that different veggies were compatible when grown others not.To reduce bugs we have planted plants that help reduce root nematodes, plants that deter bugs via scents/masks they omit, and placed false white butter flies around the pod.We still have to spr...Read more
ay quality horticulture oils and dipel from time to time.We do not use the bug cover as our combinations of tall(1.5m),medium(1m) and small veggies, herbs does not fit the cover dimensions. We did use it the first year growing just ice berg lettuce, which was good. The Vegepod is great to have the bug cover on to germinated our veggies seeds. We use a system of recyling our kitchen green waste that leeches into the veggie soil, activating earthworm activity.Bearing in mind we only use rain water from tanks on our veggies via a drip system, this does not discourage the earthworms. We are about to take out our spring /summer crops, sweeten the soil and plant winter crops that naturally rejuvenate the spent soils.Overall a great product giving us heaps of healthy homegrown veggies, that is now a family fun thing to do,one family member has bought their own,and also had a great experience. Its great brings our family together on a common interest, thats really good.Similar opinion? Perfect buy. We love it
We bought the bigger sized vegepod at the Flower Show in Melbourne about 3 years ago. It was an impulse buy, but we have not regretted it.
We love it. The veggies grow beautifully in it. A success every time. Well worth the money we invested in it. We have had friends and family who were so surprised to see the results we were getting.

Okay but does have a few problems, already showing signs of rust
I started using my pod less than 2 months ago. In the lid section there are already rust stains at the base of the vertical poles where they meet the cross bars. I only noticed this when the lid was turned upside down when the retraining cord came undone, and the rusty water flowed out through the plastic joining pieces.
I've pushed the retaining clips firmly into place but the lid does come off ift you open it up and the string comes undone. Not sure how it will perform in high winds but I think I will probably have to tie down the lid as t...Read more
here are only two clips at the front, four would be better. I find the sprinkler system is patchy and no longer use it - some areas receive no water at all, whereas one of the nozzles is far too forceful and causes water to pond, this causes patchy seed germination. Be prepared for some strong pongs and loads of small flies if you add the amount of cow manure the instructions recommend. I have the large pod and stand and find the growing surface area to be very good, the plants that are growing, grow well and I'm delighted with their progress - already eating radishes and lettuce. You need a strong surface to stand it on as it is very heavy when full.1 comment

Finally put together the trolley.
The instructions are terrible. Had to download the pdf so I could make out the individual items. I returned it to the supplier and received a replacement. Rang the company and by trial and YouTube got it together. 2 issues I had were the nuts (27 instead of 28) and 1 of the angle trolley supports had a lip on the inside castor hole that made it difficult to feed the bolt through. Used tthe allen key to help it lock into place. I persisted and won. Hopefully won't have the same problem with the vegepod unit.

I bought a small Vegepod from a local supplier here in WA, struggled a little putting it together, then planted it out with leafy greens and strawberries. I’ve been totally blown away with how the plants have grown in the past few weeks! I get a real buzz out of harvesting for work lunches and dinners. I can’t wait to taste the strawberries!!!

Farmer's wife buys. Farmer laughs, then Farmer's wife has the last laugh
I have been gardening from a young child in a self sufficient family. The only food we bought was day old bread. My grandparents were also largely dependant on growing their own food, I have known how to grow food, but in more recent years it has delivered increasing trials for decreasing benefit. My extended family and I have challenged each other with new varying methods of growing greens especially. Veggie pod wins with the other competition methods all blown away. It is a great product. de. An understanding of soil and soil microbial life is just as important and perhaps your company could include some education in living soil and nutrient provisions for the food that people desire to grow. We are farmers, the soil is the health both visable and nutriental of the plant. It is a great product, it is a good container and system but the dirt is the medium in which it all grows. I have a large, I planted it 2nd Dec. in 18 days after waterng it for a total of 10 minutes I have an harvest which I cannot contain. Literally. Good product, just a few small annoyances.
I purchased a large Vegepod in May 2017, filled it up with the good stuff recommended by Vegepod. I planted all from seed and even during winter had excellent growth. NO BUGS! My canopy has come off a couple of times but Vegepod do offer to send more clips free of charge. The propagation cover could be better, it has ripped very easily at the corners (gaping holes now) even after being very careful. I find the ties fiddly to attach however it has acted as a raincoat for the pod and saved my plants from being drowned. It's a pleasure being able ...Read more

Loses a star due to a couple of small things that let this product down 1. Misting attachments work on and off even from new 2. Weak plastic alligator clips that do not hold the tube connection. Challenges.
As someone who rents, I love the concept of the vegepod. I have the large version with two tables to support it.
My concerns are:
1. Canopy flies every time there is any wind
2. The spray system does reach the outer regions of the pod and plants that I located in order to climb up the arch have died. Adjusting the spray seems quite simple - change the location of the holes so it is more far reaching.
3. The clips for the arch do not seem to hold it securely & it keeps popping out.
4. I tried to call customer service to register my concern...Read more

Live in Newstead Vic. Does the lift up lid protect veg from Frost?
2 answers
I don't have any personal experience, as we don't get frost in Perth. But from what I've read, frost forms in situ when the temperature around the leaf surface falls below freezing. So the canopy by itself wouldn't stop that happening.
However, the mass of water and damp soil in the Vegepod unit would comprise a heat reservoir, and the canopy would help slow the loss of heat from that.
So on balance, the canopy would help a bit, but wouldn't give guaranteed protection from frost.
Simon H.Vegepod
Yes the commercial farming mesh does indeed stop air frost in its own right. But even if super super cold frost you can get the additional hothouse cover (non permeable clear greenhouse effect) to add extra warmth.

Most reviews are pretty good, given the 4.4 average.
The plastic can warp a bit and muck up the bolt hole alignments, but I was able to work my way around this using a screwdriver and hammer and finally assemble the unit.
Simon H.Vegepod
Give all the negative reviews!? We have an average of 4.4 out 5 over several hundred.
The Frustrating Part of all this platform is that it attracts detractors and anyone with the slightest complaint whom for the vast vast majority
1) Only have shot from the hip and never engaged the company to work out what was wrong
2) only ever review the assembly stage and not the actual amazing growing of veg
3) much is user error
Despite all that we still have 4.4/5 which is a High Distinction.
