Very disappointed
My card expired and I have not received a new card. I can't request one on the website, I can't contact someone through the website. I tried ringing and the call hung up once I got to a customer representative option. This happened 3 times so it was not a glitch.

Left stranded
My card was blocked today and I am stranded in NY on my way to Europe with a lot of money on the card. No one can tell me why the card was blocked, they cannot unblock it and they cannot send a replacement card to NY. They cannot expedite a new card, cannot tell me when it will arrive at my house in Australia where no one else lives, so I now have to have someone go every day to check when it arrives then send to NY. I would not recommend this card based on how futile the whole experience is when something goes wrong. You are totally abandoned by Velocity, they just keep repeating that there is nothing they can do except send a replacement to your home address.

Can Do Better
Preparing for our overseas trip and couldn't locate my wife's velocity/global wallet card so rang up to report and request a new one for her. Great - no problems BUT I was sent a replacement for my own card NOT my wife's card as requested. Time running out with departure imminent I reported the mistake and was assured a replacement card for my wife would be on the way. We had left home by the time it arrived but it was forwarded on to us in NSW (hadn't left the country yet) Well my wife's replace card arrived today WITHOUT the Global Wallett on the back.

It can be good in certain circumstances
I put a couple of hundred dollars on at a time and use as a replacement for carrying small amounts of cash for purchases like takeway coffee etc using the tap n go feature and in that respect it's fast and efficient. I get an instant email receipt for each transaction and there are no other fees. Also money transfers to it the same day using Netbank.
However, there are many issues as others have pointed out. For instance, if you use the card at the same business more than twice within a short time frame - say an hour, then the card wil...Read more
l be blocked and you'll have to ring customer support to have it unlocked. The exchange rate is bad so I avoid it for overseas purchases and if you have any issues other than a pin reset, their customer service very poor - similar to ISP's so I would avoid this card unless you use it just for small incidental purchases like I do in which case it works well - especially the instant email receipts are a great feature.Similar opinion? Works great for me
I use my Global Wallet card fairly often for purchases to get Velocity points on things I am already purchasing and then simply top it up with a bank transfer of the same amount. It has proved very useful this way.
While overseas recently I moved money across onto it to pay for our hotel bill, knowing that this would be a lump sum. I also took foreign currency as this was easier to utilise in a small Thai village. After reading reviews on here I was worried about what problems we might have. I moved the Thai Baht 'wallet' to the top of my li...Read more
st to prioritise it and contacted customer support, just to ensure I wasn't missing anything. They confirmed that all should work, and come check-out day it worked fine. The amount was equiv to around AU$1500, so naturally I was concerned that fees charged at a percentage would be nasty, but none were charged. They clearly make their money from earning interest on your deposits as well as leveraging exchange rates, but I didn't find their rates out of line with other foreign currency providers, so that was fine.Similar opinion? The Card to be Avoided
Recently set account for CAD, but apparently the change of currency didn’t stick on the website, resulting in the company loading USD instead. After several fruitless phone calls to customer service (who’s standard reply to everything is - “we can’t help you”) and no reply to email requests, we have given up and decided to get our money out of there and avoid this company at all costs.
My advice after this experience is - Find another card, any card, but not this one!

Very dissatisfied
I loaded A$1000 onto my Global Wallet card before going to New Zealand. It was in the account for two weeks and in that time I didn’t withdraw any of it. Now I wish to close the account and withdraw my money which I find is now worth A$901 so it cost me A$99 to hold the money there for two weeks. After speaking to Customer Support I was informed I made an error in converting it to New Zealand currency. An expensive lesson! Now I have to wait up to 10 working days to get my money back. I won’t be using Global Wallet in the future.

WORST CARD EVER
I was making an Online Purchase and I realized my Card was declined. I called them and they told me it was Blocked for Unusual Activity. I had to go back and forth with the Customer Service REP
This is a Prepaid CARD, which according to them is perfect for online purchases.
Why Block my Card without even sending me an Email.
They said they will get back to me and I am waiting. I will update on here as to what happens Next

Definitely a borderline scam - loaded $500 and in one day it was worth $453 (exchange rate moved 0.2
Definitely something seriously wrong with this card and its operators, Rev Australia Pty Ltd and Cuscal Ltd. I loaded $500 onto this card, in Thai Baht for a business trip to BKK (first time I have used it - should have read these other reviews first, would have saved me a load of hassle). Next day my transfer was worth $453 - a loss of $47. I checked the exchange rate, it had moved 0.25% overnight - so they're taking $46.50 in fees and/or in some extreme differential in their buy/sell exchange rates. Complained and asked for a refund - stonewalled. Next step it to take this to the Financial Ombudsman Service Australia. My advice: avoid the scam-level fees and just don't use this product.

Can't add money
The amount I can add into my wallet is currently $0 and they asked to send in documents to confirm my identity. So I sent them excellent quality scanned documents and they rejected it stating that it wasn't legible.
Rescanned and sent them again and got the same response. Did that about 5 times and still the same response. How stupid can a company be? I've finally given up and the next step is to delete my account because of that fact and horrible and ignorant customer service.

thieves with no customer service! avoid
I have recently signed up to Velocity Frequent Flyer program and got sent a Global Wallet in the mail. I do have some USD overseas that I wanted to transfer over to Australia in USD (It’s my travelling budget so I didn’t want to pay the exchange rate twice) so I set the wallet to USD.
The amount sent to the Wallet was USD1100
Velocity have changed the amount into AUD and then back again into USD charging me twice.
12/01/2018 (6:30PM) I have called to request that the transaction be reversed (i.e if they cannot receive fund in USD then ju...Read more

Fantastic customer service
My card was recently compromised, it was skimmed at the Circle K in Seminyak Bali. I was in Hanoi, Vietnam and I received a email from Global Wallet alerting me to suspicious transactions against on my card. I was impressed with the quick response with customer service, my emails were responded to within an hour and I was able to have the dispute claim form lodged quickly. The money was refunded back in to my account within ten days.

They LOST my money!
I recently made a number of deposit transactions which never ended up in my global wallet account. I was told it was an error by their banking partner westpac and the funds would be returned to me in 24 hours. Its been 5 days...I called back to be told they dont know where my money is or when i will get it.....
For a financial service this is hugely disappointing and not worth the inconvenience.
Lucky I'm not overseas otherwise I would be stranded with no money.
NOT WORTH THE RISK

Waiting for missing money - Update
I have been using this card for approximately 18 months, including three months in U.K. last year.
I had not encountered any problems until the last month, when transaction notifications were ceased.
I emailed VGW of this problem.
In the last week I have suffered fraudulent transactions on my account.
I filled out the relevant dispute form, and was able to block my card, fortunately, as once transaction notifications were reinstated, three more atttempts to use the account have been made,
I received an automated email to acknowledge rece...Read more

Just Terrible if anything goes wrong..
The card was easy to obtain, they had sent me 10 of them, so I finally activated one and used it overseas. I should have stopped using it when I got back to Australia. The exchange rate is really really bad. The online portal isnt great and if you need to call customer support for anything other than a pin reset, then the customer support is just non existent. I asked for my issue to be escalated to a team lead and I got the run around. It took me 5 calls back to the call center to finally speak to someone who said they could not help me. They say they had been calling me and not leaving messages or even missed calls for that matter. So they treat you like an idiot. Just poor customer service.

Stingy exchange rate
Easy to obtain and use. 24 hour delay in loading funds sometimes annoying - not sure why this is necessary. Biggest gripe with this card is the lousy exchange rate - I've done a comparison with using my Visa credit card over 3 months in Europe and it's cost me a few hundred dollars more to use this card. This is taking into account the 2% on every transaction charged by the bank for overseas credit transactions. Balance that with the cost of the flight value I might get with the points and I'm still losing. I'll still use it for cash out, as I haven't figured any better way to do that. Maybe OK for domestic use for those wanting Velocity points but not as a 'global' wallet.

The card worked perfectly, loaded with Rand. The exchange rate was better than expected. (1 Aus to 10.+ Rand).
I rarely used it at the ATM. 99.9% of SA and Swaziland stores/businesses take visa card. What's not to like?

Profiteering exchange rate
Several days ago I asked why the exchange rate through Global Wallet would get me 75 cents American instead of the market rate of 81 cents. I don't mind some small difference to help their profits but 5-6 cents is over the top.
Interesting I read reviews about lack of support - I have had no reply to my request.
Velocity points are being offered at double the rate but I would be paying a premium in the exchange to get some points. I had heard that this card was a good travel option but am very disappointed by what I've seen so far.

Worst Customer Service ever.
1. Customer service is close to NON existent if you run into transaction disputes etc.
2. You will end up dealing with NZ call centre whom will end up having to EMAIL Rev Finance in TEXAS USA as they have NO phone-support. Expect DELAYS.
3. Rev WILL freeze your entire account and treat YOU THE VICTIM of ID thief as "criminal" and ask YOU to pay THEM AUD15 fee to route your remaining funds out of the frozen account to a nominated bank account.
4. Floor staff at the call centre have DIFFERENT versions to tell about SAME issues everytime you sp...Read more

Great for earning velocity points in Australia
I used this card for a year or so as a day to day debit card and found it a fantastic way to earn velocity points on your day to day spending while not running up a credit card bill. There's a fee for cash withdrawals so I never used it for cash, just eftpos transactions. Haven't used it overseas so I can't speak to that experience.

I would give up. Honestly, it is more trouble than its worth. I did it because my partner went to the UK, we could also earn extra points, but all it did was cause hassles. Then they blocked the card for no reason, leaving my partner unable to use the card. By all means, keep trying, but I would give up now.
