Tripping power

published

I have the same issue as many others. Bought mine less that one week and its tripping the power. Originally bought for my son who is sick, been good for the last 3 days but doesn't work anymore. Hesitant to keep trying as worried might explode or something.

Not thrilled with it.

published

I purchased my first one at the local chemist and it kept tripping the power safety switch. The next one didn't have that fault but I still don't really like it. Its very difficult and annoying to drain the water reservoir so you end up with stale water in it.

Power fluctuation

Noticed power fluctuation in the house twice as soon as I turned on the vaporizer. Read these reviews so understood the issue. Bought this from Aldi few weeks ago. How do I return it?

Keeps on shorting out

published

We brought this item from aldi and it had been working fine for the last 2 days but then today it started tripping the houses power. We thought it was the power board we were using so we plugged it into the wall socket and the same thing. It seems to trip the power once the into starts to boil the water.

Shock Circuit- Do not buy

published

We bought it 3 months ago. It tipped my whole power, short circuited whole house. I couldn’t believe it happened as never experienced it before. I wish I would’ve read these reviews before. My little one got cold and GP asked me to use a vaporiser. This was available in the chemist. We didn’t keep the receipt so lost $79.

Do not buy!

Serious design problem

published

I would not recommend buying this product.
It needs to be cleaned and dried everyday but
it is nearly impossible to tip water out to clean this product unless you shake it vigorously up and down ?

Yet another Short-Circuited review.

published

Purchased one on a Friday morning, by Saturday night it’s short circuiting our house. Happened twice in a row. Would have been returning for a full refund but we’ve lost the receipt so now I’m stuck with this $60 paperweight.

have since found countless reviews like mine, some reviews are years old! I can’t believe this product is still on the shelves with this issue still happening!? Do not buy this product.

faulty

published

I have bought 4 in the last 5 years, one stopped being effective one lasted about 12 months and the others tripped the safety switch and became useless. Even if you exchange them you will be regularly asking for a refund or exchanges- give us a product that actually lasts for a little longer than 12 months

Natural Steam Therapy

published

With many vaporizers out there, the technology to generate steam is using a ultrasonic plate. However with the Vicks vaporizer I believe that it actually boils the water to create the steam. We have used this for several months now with no problems at all. The vaporsteam solution is very strong and too much will cause discomfort. The unit does not draw too much power. Very happy with the product.

Unit will eventually short circuit and trip your breakers

published

I bought three of these for $14.95 which is a great price, but two out of the three short circuited. It is scary when a breaker keeps tripping and you don't know what it is. I suspected the vaporizers so I plugged them into power strips to make sure. I am not sure how long I have had them and I don't have any receipts. So for the price they might work for a year or two.

Something gross in the tank

published

I bought it when my baby was having a cold and I wanted something to ease the stuffy nose, the room humidity level definitely gone up after using, however I noticed there's some impurities in the tank when I emptied water the next day, I'm using the double strength drops from Vicks so not sure if that's causing it

Strong plastic smell

published

I bought the vaporiser from chemist. I was hoping that it will help my baby to breathe. She was suffering from cold & flue for some time. It works fine with a strong plastic smell. I was wondering whether I let my child sleep with block nose or let her inhale the plastic smell. Went back to the chemist asking whether I could swap the product. There answer was I should use Vicks with the water. Is that how it works? You replace bad plastic smell with strong Vicks smell? I walked out thinking yeah I lost $60

Pain in the neck

published

I have been using this to help breath at night for about 2-3 months due to asthma. After my Vaas unit expired I decided to try one on these. Whilst it works ok it can be noisy at times and is an absolute pain in the but to clean. Due to the design of the bowl, it is even difficult to empty the water out daily. The directions advise us to soak the unit in vinegar. Come on guys really. The Vaas unit is much easier to use, clean, is much quieter and costs one third less than the Vicks. If you are after a vaporizer do yourself a favour, walk past this one to the Vaas.

Pneumonia

published

I purchased it last week as I was very very sick with pnuemonia and on medication and cough was a nightmare dry and stubborn ... Literally should have been in hospital as it was getting worse after days of medication only.... However I went to pharmacy and purchased the vaporiser as I couldn't sleep for days due to this coughing....i loaded it with the Vick's double strength.... It soothed and moisten my chest after the first night...i coughed up so much phlegm I didn't know was there... used it 4 nights and it loosened my respiratory tract... Coughing eased and all phlegm was coming up nicely.....day 5 I feel so much better...but still will keep going and see the Dr tomorrow to touch base.... However, I think Vick's saved my life....

Love it!

published

We bought one when my bub was sick with a cold. It runs almost all night before switching itself off when it’s empty.
It works so well. Bub always sleeps better when he is sick and has the vapouriser on. It is also only warm steam out of the top so can’t burn in case you get too close.
We use with the Vick’s bottle of essential oil and it’s strong and helps clear blocked noses.
Highly recommend!

A godsend!

Cannot recommend enough! My 4 year old has been battling nasty cold and flu symptoms for a few days, mainly a persistent and terrible cough. The nights are the worst.. I purchased the vaporizer today and am using it with only water due do allergies to ingredients in the vaporizer liquid. My daughter is sleeping soundly for the first time in days thanks to the vaporizer, which means I will be able to as well. Thank you Vick's, from one tired mumma

The worst designed product

published

I bought it from Terry white and one of the worst designed product in the recent times. The lid can't be opened easily and one has to put a lot of pressure to open it. In this process I hurt myself with scratches and bruises. I had to throw it out and buy another one, medeScan. Even though it is easier to use, I am facing other issues.

Questions & Answers

Jenelle

Jenelleasked

We have the door open wide, well ventilated room and used it for 3 nights in a row, to find the oil is dripping down from the top of the wall that the vaporiser is against. It is on a table about 15 cm away from the wall. The oil drips go for at least a meter wide. We are now afraid to use it as it may damage the walls.
Any solutions?

Hello, I bought the warm steam vaporizer and have used it one night.
Firstly, I filled it to the max line but the unit switched off after about 6-7 hours, on the box it says 12 - 14 hours, that's only half the time.
Second question, I read its best to use Demineralised water as we shouldn't inhale misted tap water. Which water is best. Thanks.

Hello Anna. Do you mean the unit ran out of water after 6-7 hours? Or did it just switch off, with water still in it? Either way that shouldn't happen. Can you please get in touch with our Customer Service team who will advise on next steps? [email protected]. You can use tap water in the unit, that's fine - it's certainly not a health hazard, however the minerals can erode your machine over time (hence the regular cleaning required in the manual), so if you don't mind the extra cost of using demineralised water it could keep your vaporizer in better condition for longer. So I've had my Vicks vaporizer for about a month and I've been running it about every other night. I noticed when it's running the reservoir holding the water gets very hot. Is that okay? I mean I know it's a vaporizer but still I didn't know the water was supposed to get that hot LOL
