Took the safety guards over the belt wheels off (and left them off) and just followed the belt diagram in the instruction manual.

Your answer to my question was nothing to do with the cost or the 100+ hours Russell. It was to do with the deck and whether there was a quality issue from use of it from one of the owners of this lawnmower model and a review that was written.

It says 1.5 to 4.5 inch but I’ve never got down and measured it ... neat cut and solidly built ... it does not have a fabricated deck but the pressed deck shows no signs of wear or damage after some fairly solid use ...
