Annoying & Useless!!!

published

This is absolutely terrible & makes the job of mopping the floor very painful!
The sponge detaches itself with every forward/backward sweeping motion. The sponge almost adheres to the floor, whether it is tiles or lino making it hard to move. I mop my floors with very hot water, so to have to reattach the sponge that is extremely hot is difficult in itself let alone every time you do a mop forward/backwards. Makes the job very lengthy and frustrating. The other bad thing about this design is when the sponge dries out it shrinks and comes off the plate it is supposed to be attached to.
Has somebody from Valeda actually used this mop?

Really Crappy Product

published

As other reviewers have said. Hard to push and the sponge regularly falls off. Would return it if I had not used it. Only one month old and out shopping for a new mop.

I do not like this product as it falls apart and is a waste of money and time using it. I would like to know who in the hell thought of it. They should buy them all back.

I love this mop, cant live without it!

published

I love this mop and I've been looking for a refill everywhere. I love how its a broom and a mop in one. It cuts cleaning time in half. I don't know what previous reviewers are talking about they mustn't be using it properly. I have tiles, floorboards and vinyl and they always come up perfect and doesn't take half as long as normal mops. I'm a cleaning fanatic and very fussy about the products I use, it picks up pet hair, dust and bits and pieces and mops at the same time. I've tried a lot of cleaning products and this one is a winner...

It's only a mop by design

published

It has a handle and an absorbent sponge. Design covered. Functionality, it just doesn't work. The sponge sticks and doesn't slide across the floor. The head is on a swivel which can't be locked, so after the sponge sticks to the floor a few times, you end up with the head stuck at a 90 degree angle to the handle and then as you try to right the stupid thing... the sponge detaches. At that point, you start screaming profanities and scaring the neighbourhood children.

This mop is terrible. It's the worst mop that I've ever used and if I could find whoever designed this offense to cleaning equipment, I'd tweet something horrible at them. In caps.

worst mop ever

published

This mop should be taken off the shelves, sponge is difficult to get on...comes off easily especially if you have to mop sideways along skirting etc, when mopping it tips over scratching floor. Not easy to mop as sponge is too firm. Overall I would give it a minus 10. FRUSTRATED.

worst thing i have ever bought

published

every time we us it we scratch the floor it hasn't fallen apart yet but when you use it it continually flippes over and the mounting plate skids along the floor not good on polished floors and the sponge dries out between uses and shrinks so it falls off when trying to get it wet again

Rubbish Product from Vileda

published

Yes I can confirm and agree with all those folks complaining of this product's shortcomings. Mine also broke apart (disintegrated) at its plastic hinges after only 2 months use, that is a total of about 10 uses. The design is poor, I thought this product will last a long time so I also purchased the replacement blue sponge and used that first instead of the one it comes with. Well... the blue replacement sponge is actually smaller so this means you will scratch your skirting board with the edge of the base plate. Vileda certainly super squeezed me on this purchase. I am not going back to this brand ever. Better get the K-mart $10 offering and $3 replacement sponge than spend on this way overpriced mop wannabe.

Didn't like my first use!

published

I will try to return this to Woolies tomorrow and hope they will refund me my money without many questions. It is difficult to manouver and the sponge doesn't stay flaton the floor all the time. Control is tough when the sponge doesn't slide smoothly. Took too much effort to clean just one room and we have 6 other rooms to go!!!

Mop Over Priced

published

Even if I only paid $1, which unfortunately I didn't! I have had nothing but trouble with this mop. The mechanism that is meant to squeeze it dry keeps coming out of its holes leaving me to juggle a sopping mop as I try to prod it back in place. Even then it doesn't wring the water out very well. The sponge also constantly flips over so it is impossible to get a decent pressure. Last but not least, the sponge today pulled away from the plastic bit that was meant to hold it in place. This is going in the bin where it belongs.
The sound it made as it hit the bottom of the garbage bin

Worst mop I have used

published

I purchased this mop from Woolworth's, what a waste of money. Its useless. Very stiff to use, it does not slide on tiles or wood easily. Very hard to squeeze out, the pull mechanism is stiff and difficult to use. The sponge part, is stiff and does not dry out easily, so when you have finished mopping it takes several days to dry out. Oh yes and it locks itself into odd angles so mop is not flat on floor and i have a terrible time trying to make the mop flat so i can continue mopping. Cant say I've noticed it picks up any hair. I would not recommend to anyone.

Bad design, hard to wring out, difficult to slide on all floor surfaces.

Broke after 2 months

published

Rubbish mop, I've only had this for 2 months and the actual sponge just fell off so I bought a replacement sponge and then the mechanics to squeeze the mop broke off. It didn't pick up anything as it claimed to and it was really stiff to use.Really unimpressed, won't buy Vileda again!!

Good

published

This is a good mop if you have a lot of tiles (not sure how it would go on wood or laminate) When I first got it I thought it was leaving marks on the floor, but it had some kind of chemical in it and once that washed out of the mop it was fine.
Easy to use, works well on tiles. Gets harder to scrub spots off easily.
Doesn't actually pick up dirt and hair like the description says, it just pushes it around. The handle broke after about a year where it comes apart to adjust the length.

Worst mop ever the handle does not lock into place and the head never stays flat on the floor going in the bin

Not Good

published

I bought the wider sponge version of this mop. The swivel hinges on the top are so stiff the only cleaning surface to touch the floor is on the top angle of the sponge. Despite lubricating the hinge and trying to free it up it remains too stiff to move while mopping. Unfortunately a complete waste of money!
Easy to squeeze and I like the concept of the wide sponge if it touched the surface to be cleaned.
Hinges too stiff

Disappointing design & difficult to use.

published

I also bought the wider version of this particular mop. It is very stiff to use, and difficult to mop our wooden floor. The hinge is so stiff and it often flicks back when you press down on it.

Also the handle is meant to be adjustable in length, but the centre piece does not tighten into place, so I have to use it loose, and it is so difficult to mop even my kitchen.

Have decided to go back to Woolworths today with my docket that I found thank goodness, and try to get a refund on this faulty, inferior product. It was not worth the $20 I paid for it.
It looked like it was a sturdy good work mop.
Stiff hinges, bad design, faulty handle tightening, difficult to operate.

I found this mop to be rubbish also, wish I could have found my receipt!! I found the hinge flicks back also, not good when you have over 100 square meters of tiles..

It is supposed to twist and lock but not always

Yep, twist the black collar in the middle of the stick. But I'll be surprised if your mop last more than a few uses.
