Gift Voucher Scam

published

I have 2 valid gift vouchers however am unable to book online despite following exact instructions. Internal error messages popped up and when I thought I'd manoeuvred beyond that stage errors popped up regarding my voucher error. Add to this the frustration of not having the option to communicate with Customer Service on the phone and relying on email contact which I'm not confident in after spending half a day repeating the online process. The phone suggestion being I should visit the cinema and communicate directly. My ticket expires on Friday and the movie we want has it's last Gold Class session tomorrow. What a waste of a lot of money.

Bloody Hopeless

published

No one answers their phone! Village used to be great but not anymore. If you are in a service business, you would think there would be some human communication possible. But not at Village!! Looks like it's back to the TV for movies yet again.

Village Cinemas Gold Class Gift Card Scam

published

Got a valid gift card worth $159 purchased Aug 2018 valid till Aug 2022. Tried to redeem it 14 Apr 2022. The website will not accept it keeps saying its incorrect try again. Tried through 2 different browsers and phone same issue. Tried calling Village same no one you can talk to. Try to submit inquiry through their website and it keeps telling me something went wrong and will not even accept my complain about the gift card. Absolutely ridiculous.
Then I say this with all these reviews. They are all correct. You trust that a big company like Village operating in Australia is legitimate and even if something goes wrong you have a recourse but dose not seem to be. It is all out scam and. DO NOT BUY VILLAGE GIFT CARDS!

ABSOLUTELY FRUSTRATING!!!

published

This has been the most frustrating and disappointing experience!! We were given a "Gold Class Experience" package and it has been far from that!!! Trying to book online is absolutely hopeless!! ZERO customer service, no one to call and you risk potentially missing out on seeing a movie of your choice as the booking is never completed! Get yourselves together Village management.... NOT GOOD ENOUGH! if there was an option for zero stars... that would be the rating

booked tickets and popocorn etc. online using vouchers, made the additional payment, after waiting about 1 minute, it shows internal error, however my paypal has shown the payment has been proccessed, waited a while, no tickets received or emails. tried to contact them, there is no contact number of any kind, just an email address, that is not respoding, the movie starts in less than 2 hours. really stressing and frustrating experience, can't belive this rubbish company still exists.

Frustrating Booking

published

Unfortunately we were given 2 lots of Gold Class tickets and both times trying to book online was a nightmare and with no-one to actually speak to was very annoying...no reply was forthcoming either when trying to contact someone for help by email....I will never buy Village vouchers for anyone ever and will be telling friends and family to go to Hoyts instead.

kept money

published

Booked tickets for a Friday evening session on a Thursday evening by mistake..

No customer service over the phone and no time to get to the cinema (as per you stupid rules) to change the booking time.

So they just kept the money.

Noticed they don’t even have google my business set up and Facebook reviews are turned off so people can't leave reviews.

Their excuse was something about having to pay the movie distributor for the tickets purchased whether i sat in my seats or not. I asked for a time change not a refund, but no.

No ability to book online with a Gift Shop Voucher

published

I purchased 4 Gold Class tickets together with additional food vouchers as promoted on a special. I have not been able to book online. No online assistance, no telephone number to call, no reply to repeated emailed online inquiries on 2 consecutive days. The only option remaining was a suggestion from the IVR to physically visit the cinema to resolve the issue. By the time I managed to visit the cinema, there were no seats available for several preferred day/times for the movie of my choice. This service couldn't be designed to be more frustrating. Village Cinemas are terrible at providing any client service.

Expiry dates on gift cards are short compared to other companies

published

I was given village gift cards for a present but unfortunately due to family reasons they were not used before expiry date. I explained reasons to village but they would not reactivate the cards. A card for the opposition I was given at the same time had a 3 year expiry so no problems re using so will now will not go to village cinemas again

Terrible service to a terrible cinema

published

I have been loyal for decades to this cinema only to discover a rejection of my rewards card. Other than that card there is nothing I like about this cinema, so I will not be coming back. The staff member did not care, and neither did the head manager who I called to complain. This cinema should know better.

Hopeless booking system; no support

published

A gift card is a great idea - but try using 2 gift cards to cover a booking for 2 people is impossible. No phone number to call, just email support. We’ve been waiting 16 days for a reply but no response yet.....!

Pathetic, can’t get on to claim voucher, the worst booking system I have ever come across.

published

Horrible experience, I hope I am never given vouchers again, they seem easy to buy but terrible to try and book a show on line. Unfortunately will have to travel 2 hours and take pot luck at getting to see what’s on offer at the time.

Waste of money

published

The cards become a terrible gift when one tries to redeem them online. It's a nightmare! The system only accepts one gift card at a time, so if you are buying multiple tickets, you have to buy each ticket separately and pay multiple booking fees. Also, once you enter a gift card, the system will no longer accept Paypal for any remaining balance - only credit card. (However, the catch for us was that it would not accept any of our credit cards!) For me, each of 5 gift cards only ended up being 1/2 - 2/3 used, and cost me a lot of $ and stress to finally get some movie tickets. Village also offer NO customer assistance.

Epic fail.

published

The gift card is not accepted when I try to use it. Can't get a balance. Their phone line refuses to forward your call to an actual human, but tells you to email customer support. Email to customer support still not replied to after a week. Utterly infuriating. Simply not good enough Village.

Card is not "activated" from date of purchase

published

I received a village cinemas gift card as a Christmas gift and wanted to use it at village cinemas 4 days later. The card was not accepted at the cinemas because the card had not been9q "activated". The cinema manager said the cards take a few working days before they can be used. I had to use cash which was a great inconvenience.

Special event fail

published

Went to use voucher for my Mum for the Edinburgh Military Tatoo only to have the website fail to accept the voucher. Turns out when we rocked up to buy at the location this was a special event and the voucher is not valid for special events and you need to have time travelled to know this before hand. Now have a voucher about to expire and judging by this website am not hopeful for a refund. By the way don’t expect a timely response from customer service email. 3 weeks and the event was only on one weekend. Do not use this, just give people cash. It never expires. Noted that the law is changing and 3 years will be the minimum expiry required. Too late for us.

Can't book on-line, no staff at cinema

published

Tried to redeem 2 vouchers on-line - system down, went to the cinema - no staff. Called the number - automated message referred me back to website. Sent an email - 2 days later still no response. Disgraceful customer service. Will be asking all I know to please, please don't give me or buy Village vouchers for others. Wasted my time and spoiled an otherwise thoughtful gift

My prompt enquiry from Village is they have extended my expiry date from 31May20 to 31Oct20.

My tickets expired 30th March not May. Does that mean you only get 5 months extension on the date? What if things don't go back to normal until the end of the year?

I have the same question. My Gold Class vouchers also expire on 31.3.20
I would like an immediate answer from Village that there is at least a 6-12 month extension.

I just went to village cinemas.com.au/contact-us
Completed my details and let Village know I expect them to extend the expiry date by 6-12 months. Due to Covid-19, Village closed on 23.3.20 (prior to our expiry date) so I think they will have to offer us an extension.
