Village theft!
Purchased $100 Gold Village gift card and went to use if for a smaller amount about six months later. Girl at Village Knox told me that the gift vouchers are now valid for 3 years and I should wait to use if when I go Gold Class. So I did. Went to use it recently and it had expired last year - 12 months after purchase. Emailed Village with a complaint and got told it's only for gift cards purchased from March 2018. My voucher clearly showed I purchased it Feb 2018. Why did your poorly trained staff member tell me it had 3 years!! Did my $100 suddenly disappear out of your bank account last year?? This is theft and should be illegal.

Appalling Customer Service
Just adding my experience to the long list of disgruntled gold class gift card purchasers; terms hidden and confusing-like "can't be used for 24 hours from purchase" then you find you the start date, in fine print is 5 days way; there is no help line you can call; its email or turn up and try to find someone to talk to at a cinema-pretty tough on the kid on the counter at the cinema.
Appalling organisation-I'm going to use local independent cinema's as far as possible in the future.

Customer Service and Technologically inept!
I recently purchased discounted Gold Class vouchers on line from a membership email received through Vrewards. My wife and I wanted to use those today for an afternoon Gold Class session. Using Village Cinemas absolutely disgraceful online service, I enter the voucher and pin numbers and continually get an error message and cant purchase tickets online. Your online booking system is terrible. Your non existent customer service and non human contact options is beyond disgraceful. consumer rights and obligations. Telling someone on an automated phone message that either send an email of complaint or drive in to a cinema to discuss in person with a staff member is absolutely ludicrous. I have spent money on discounted tickets which I cam get no response to or even book a simple session on line. Your technology, customer service, social media and all aspects of your brand and products are beyond a joke. Thanks for ruining what should have been an enjoyable Sunday with my wife.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Disgraceful service & lack of empathy
Similar to others, I have been a victim of Village Cinemas poor customer service and the completely unrealistic expiry date on their vouchers. This is borderline fraudulent by Village considering I have purchased these vouchers at full price at no cost to them as an organisation, not even offered a consolation to the fact I now have $300 worth of vouchers not worth the piece of paper they are provided on. I will never go to Village Cinemas again.

Want to rate it 0 starts but this website doesn't allow it
Your website for utilising gift vouchers is possibly the single most frustrating thing since the announcement of the corona virus. A literal nightmare. Im not a psychologist, but i can confirm with absolute certainty that trying to book online, using your gift vouchers has given me PTSD.

Theft - Don’t purchase gift cards from Village
Like numerous others on this site, I too have been a victim of Village Cinemas customer service and the unrealistic expiry date on their vouchers. This is absolute theft by Village and there should be tighter laws around it. I will never go to Village cinemas again.

Ripped off
Purchased gold seat for special occasion for good money
Then when booking seats and night no people to answer the phone there only a computer then after half a hour booking online had to pay booking fee on top and had to agree to relentless emails with there marketing to complete no option. This will be the last time I ever will use Village and advise as many people as possible to avoid them as a matter of principle.
what joke but. PEOPLE POWER WORK.

Gold class rip off,
Gift cards only last 12 months,
Even when date of issue is not written on card, is this a NO GRACE RIP OFF scenario?
Or can someone from village help?
By reading these reviews,
It's unfortunate to think,
That I won't be hearing from village.

Theft. Plain and simple
According to an act passed in 2009 these cards shouldn't expire. Why then when trying to book a movie at gold class does it say that a card I received last xmas is expired? All I can say is 2 things. Never purchase one of these as a gift for anyone and thank the hackers of the world for torrent sites. Village are the worst type of thieves!!! I found this online. Obviously VILLAGE think it doesn't apply to them. Thanks to the federal Credit CARD Act of 2009, gift certificates and store gift cards can't expire for five years. However, issuers can still charge an "inactivity fee" if the card has not been used within twelve months

Gold Class Experience
Same as all the others, I’m totally frustrated by the difficulty in redeeming these gift cards online.
How can a company that does everything else really well do this so badly- maybe it is a scam.

terrible I have a few gift cards that have not been used yet can’t use because village won’t extend it. The money was paid. The policy needs to be reviewed and changed.

Horrendous company
I’ve tried to resolve an issue with an expired voucher, that I sincerely feel was misrepresented when sold. This company has shown zero care.
I will never step foot in a Village cinema again. Ever.
Avoid if you can and definitely never buy any type of voucher from this greedy company.

Village cinemas: another complaint same as the rest
Gift cards wont work online, complaint e mail doesn't go through says there is a glitch, have to go to the actual cinema who proceed to tell us there is nothing wrong. Then when we book tickets (not the ones we wanted they had gone) we cant order our drinks and popcorn at the same time as online we have to queu up the day of the movie. Its school holidays Village you are dropping the ball in a major way. It seems the gift cards are a scam and they do this as a business decision hoping people wont redeem them after multiple attempts so get customers money for free. scam scam scam. Village cinemas never again.

Gold Class Gift Card did not work
The Village Cinemas website would not accept the Gold Class Indulgence package gift card I had purchased. This was frustrating as the session I wanted only had 2 seats remaining in the location I wanted. Frustrated, I bought regular seats at the VMAX instead. I'll be contacting Village tomorrow to give them an earful.

Believe it when you read the bad reviews. Disappointing gift - waste of money.
You can't check the balance or the expiry date online as it tells you it's an error. Card didn't even have an expiry/purchase date on it and when an attempt to use it was made apparently it had already expired.
I guess that's what they are counting on, money for nothing.

Can’t contact anyone
I had a problem with my gift vouchers not working. Can only contact via email, no other way. Was told everything was fine and they were working on their website. After threatening consumer affairs submission, they looked into the issue, two vouchers now work. In the end the problem was from my end, but it took several emails over a couple of weeks to get to the problem.

Gift Voucher Scam
I have 2 valid gift vouchers however am unable to book online despite following exact instructions. Internal error messages popped up and when I thought I'd manoeuvred beyond that stage errors popped up regarding my voucher error. Add to this the frustration of not having the option to communicate with Customer Service on the phone and relying on email contact which I'm not confident in after spending half a day repeating the online process. The phone suggestion being I should visit the cinema and communicate directly. My ticket expires on Friday and the movie we want has it's last Gold Class session tomorrow. What a waste of a lot of money.

My gold Class gift cards expire 31 March 2020.
the cinemas are closed for at least 8 weeks.
Will there be an extension applied to them?
2 answers
I have the same question. My Gold Class vouchers also expire on 31.3.20
I would like an immediate answer from Village that there is at least a 6-12 month extension.
ScottyP
I just went to village cinemas.com.au/contact-us
Completed my details and let Village know I expect them to extend the expiry date by 6-12 months. Due to Covid-19, Village closed on 23.3.20 (prior to our expiry date) so I think they will have to offer us an extension.
