My hard earned money down the drain. Criminal
1 Star is way too generous! Bought my friends 2 x $30 Village gift cards for their birthdays. They have let them expire. So Village Cinemas have just scored my hard earned $60 for absolutely nothing and refuse to help. This kind of action should be deemed a criminal act! It is bloody disgraceful!!

E ticket rip off and cockroaches
Did not receive what paid for. Did not receive anything. Website not accepting pre-purchased tickets. No phone at cinema or outside of hours. Wasted over an hour online trying to book seats. Had to go to the cinema with tickets line up and then discover cinemas full. Wait around for 3 hours for another session. Very disappointed, frustrated and angry family! Ruined the day for everyone! No help whatsoever ! Village has your money avoid the customer like the plague when there is problem delivering. Someone has to hold these people to account. There is zero customer service. They have policy and procedures in place to avoid contact with their customers.
Don't get me started on the COCKROACHES.

Appalling Customer Service
No way to contact cinemas (on the automated messages it says you can - this is untrue). None of the gift card codes work on their web site. Their head office disconnect you when you try and ask for a way to book. They are happy to accept your money for the gift cards but won't honor them? Are they broke?

Expired gift voucher
I can understand that gift cards can't last forever but twelve months is too short, other states should adopt the NSW policy, if Village can do it there then what's the difference in the rest of the States. It doesn't cost you a lot to let someone sit in a seat but it will certainly affect my decision to give your gift cards as presents. That boat has sailed and yes I will remember to tell others.

Village Cinemas Gold Class Gift Card - literally worthless after expiry of 12 months
I am also in possession of a Village Gold Class Gift Card - when I went to use it, it was advised as being out of date, with purchase date being 14 months prior.
At least the NSW government has followed up. Whilst this does not help any of us I note that purchase after 31 March 2018 are required by law in NSW to have 3 years minimum validity.
Consumer Affairs Victoria state sing a gift voucher or gift card after the expiry date
"A business is not obliged to honour a gift card or voucher after the expiry date, unless otherwise negotiated.

Not a pleasant night out
Last weekend I took my girlfriend to see a movie at Crown Casino Village Cinemas.
When purchasing some food and beverages we were met with a very lazy and unprofessional rep.
The individual accidentally put more products through the till than we ordered and accused myself of ordering them, claiming its too late to refund the products even though we never ordered them.
After 5-10min of arguing with the individual, they finally refunded the amount of the food and drinks we did not order.
Not a very pleasant experience, I will not return.

Don't even BOTHER
I had a gold class gift card - thought id unwind after a long hard day at work.
When i needed to call for service the service button did not work, i thought perhaps there is another button whilst i was searching around the arm chair i came across a disgusting texture which appeared as if someone had wiped snot on the arm chair - when i shined my mobile i discovered ice cream, and other disgusting markings all around the chair.
Tired and hungry - i got up and used the vacant chair behind me to call someone in, When they finally arrived, the gu...Read more

anyone who is thinking of buying one of these as a Gift DON"T

Very Misleading Vouchers
Very surprised as we received not one but two $100 village cinema vouchers for Christmas which are only valid in VIC and Hobart. It should be much clearer as Village were definitely a national cinema chain until recently. Very misleading and this should be very clear when purchasing. So disappointing. What a waste $$$$$

too expensive
I think 42 dollars for 2 adults, excessive to the max. Oh no popcorn either, that is 8.00 for a small one.

Terrible Customer service ... Staff that don't care .. bad culture
Terrible Customer service ... Staff that don't care.
Paid $449 for 20tickets that were not delivered and their response was tough luck, the tickets were used by someone and it was not their responsibility if was not delivered to me. But 7 tickets had not been used as yet so they will reissue those to me.
I was shocked.
I strongly believe that they are legally responsible as my contract with them was that the tickets purchased was to be delivered and that they were arranging the delivery.
I am inclined to give good reviews to organizations and in fact, have never given a terrible review in the past... but I will never go to a Village cinema again.

It's the Gift card that never gives
I was given a Village Gold Class gift card. I went to the Morwell Cinema to use it, and they told me it wasn't valid, as no date of purchase was on it, they claimed it must have been purchased from another retail outlet, and it should be returned to them as it is up to them to Honor it.
This stinks the card states "Village Cinemas GOLD CLASS GIFT CARD" it doesn't say (purchased from another retailer)
Be wary, with Village Cinemas all that glitters isn't GOLD, it's CRAP

Gift Card Expiry
Was given a Gold Class gift card. Went to use it during an online booking - EXPIRED. The card states that is expires 12 months after date of issue. Has no date of issue or expiry date (which Consumer Affairs state mention should be clear)! Have requested that the funds be given to charity rather than "stolen". Will see what eventuates.

Gift card issued in WA, unable to be used in WA really?!??
So after getting a $100 food and movie gift card for my birthday (sold in WA) I find that only the food gift voucher can be used in WA and not the village cinemas movie card as there is not one in WA. Emailing customer services was a wast of time as they suggested returning it to the person who gave it to me or sending it to someone who is able to use it. Thanks for the helpful advice, bit no thanks village cinemas. Why sell these gift cards in a state that cant even use it? Your customer service is appalling

The main course fish and chips urghh
The bendigo village gold class had very good service by staff but the food was certainly not up to standard the snapper and chips was dry, seemed like it was from a frozen packet at the supermarket served without cutlery it was tasteless didn't taste like it had even been cooked in clean oil.

Village Cinemas only in VIC & TAS
I purchased a Village gift card in Victoria to send to a friend in Sydney. Very embarrassing because they are not in NSW only VIC & TAS. Aust Post & other outlets should make it clear what states their cards can be used in.

Online booking fee
So we bought two tickets to Goldclass at $48 each, and went to book our seats and the booking fee was $6.50. There was no human interaction in the process. not impressed. Not going there again. It's not the $6.50 that's a big deal, it's just an unnecessary fee where their staff didn't have to do anything to action the transaction. oh this was an online booking.

Questions & Answers
Daniella kingasked
I have 4 gold class discounts tickets and 3 normal discount tickets which has an expiry date of 30th March 2020. Will these tickets have an extension on the date?
2 answers
My prompt enquiry from Village is they have extended my expiry date from 31May20 to 31Oct20.
My tickets expired 30th March not May. Does that mean you only get 5 months extension on the date? What if things don't go back to normal until the end of the year?
Daniella kingasked
Will all tickets be extended due to corona virus?

My gold Class gift cards expire 31 March 2020.
the cinemas are closed for at least 8 weeks.
Will there be an extension applied to them?
2 answers
I have the same question. My Gold Class vouchers also expire on 31.3.20
I would like an immediate answer from Village that there is at least a 6-12 month extension.
ScottyP
I just went to village cinemas.com.au/contact-us
Completed my details and let Village know I expect them to extend the expiry date by 6-12 months. Due to Covid-19, Village closed on 23.3.20 (prior to our expiry date) so I think they will have to offer us an extension.

Eventually Village gave me an extension until the end of 2017 - WHICH I USED.
Village stated that as it had no issue or expiry date they would oblige so it pays to persist.
