Village - Kids Pack DONT BUY
My children were give a kids pack for their birthday last April, with other Village vouchers including Gold class, taken them almost a year to get through them all, off they went to redeem their kids pack prior to what we believe was the 12months expiration date to be told it expired in 6 months of purchase date??? get your glasses out to read the fine print, how about writing the expiration date so we know it's not the usual 12 months you criminals! Thanks for upsetting 12 year olds you money grabbing thieves. Only will go to Hoyts in future!

My son was given a gift voucher for Christmas and when we went to use it at the beginning of March, we were told it had expired years ago. Who monitors that the gift cards sitting on Supermarket racks are not out of date. What a exploitative system Village!!!

Village vouchers
I received a double pass to the Gold Class cinemas, and like others who have children, find it difficult to go, even if there is a 12 month expiry date. Having found out that yet again we'd missed out on using the vouchers, I contacted Village using the online form explaining the circumstances. A few week later I received an email back extending our tickets and wishing us well. Thanks Village much appreciated.
A Good Experience
I received a $100 gift card for my birthday in November 2015. I rarely go to the movies and didn't really think about it, until my wife and I were going to Melbourne for a weekend. I checked the voucher and it expired in November 2016. After reading some of the comments online I thought I had missed out. I called the support centre just to see if they could do anything and was told that the policy is only to accept current vouchers, but they could extend the voucher until the end of January. This was all sorted out within 5 minutes, both Isaac and Maddison were very helpful. We had a great night and it was a good way to see a movie. Thanks Village Cinemas.
Never again, total waste of good money
Great idea in principle however they have expiry dates, and if not used by the due date (even by one day) which was my experience, Event Cinema's does not want to know about you. Very disappointing as a have 5 tickets - $250 wasted.

$100 out the window - since when does money expire?!?
Tried booking tonight's movie with our $100 gold class gift card only to learn it expired! Spoke with customer service and while they were polite - they offered NO solution other than they get to keep the $100 and we are left with nothing. For a loyal village customer who routinely spends $100 each visit to the movies - this leaves me feeling like I've just been robbed of $100. It would have been a better solution for them to reissue the card yet .... No they just told me they knew how I felt. I don't think they do - to not honour a gift card that purely represents a cash value (not some special or unique offer) is theft. Money doesn't expire and the card represents the money paid for it. Worst case of corporate robbery I've experienced.

Cold hearted Cheats!
Tried booking a Gold Class experience for my Partner & I and the website said Gift Card Expired, yet the balance money available displays on their website. Attempted taking this up with their customer service & was advised it was 3 months past the expiry & that there wasn't anything they could do to extend the card or enable an immediate booking. It just gets added to the village customer heist! Worth making a doco on this.... They can screen the premiere!!
After a few emails & taking this up with the Village Cinemas Management team, I'm pleased to say that I've been re-issued a new Village Cinemas card with the entire amount that was on the existing car...

No Care No Empathy
I am 80 year old pensioner, and had gold class $100 voucher to use for my wife and self by November 2017.. Went into hospital for back surgery. Late October 2017, and after 3 weeks in hospital and 3 weeks recovery. Was told that I had missed the cut off date. When I attempted to use it. . What a sad commercial world we live in.
sorry, above dates should end in 2016 however, an update..good news.. village granted an exemption till 31/1/2017

Thieves.
My $100 gold glass gift card, has quite a bit of money left on it. Plus expires end of January 2017. Checked how much I have left on the card and card comes up that it doesn't exist. Confirmed at the local village cinemas. This is unacceptable. They have stolen approximately $70 of my money.
Do not buy!
We received Gold Class admit one vouchers as a gift. I know that they cost $40 each and as it happens the tickets for the session we are attending cost $30. (I'm actually okay with that, it happens). However, we also had to pay a $5 booking fee for each ticket and that could not be taken out of the value of the voucher. So each ticket ended up costing $15 extra.
If you want to give your friends movie tickets, just give them cash and tell them what it's for. Otherwise you're just donating money to Village without return.

Pay to book your in your movie voucher
Just paid $6.50 to book in vouchers to see a Gold Class movie. These guys are pretty much like Kodak, unable to keep up with the times.
Fantastic gift
A really great and versatile gift. I wasn't sure if my friend would want to see a movie in gold class or just the normal cinema. The cashier informed me that the card would work for whichever they want. And with plenty of time before the expiry.
Pathetic
Why have vouchers that expire? If someone has paid good money for a service why should that money all of a sudden become null and void after a specified amount of time? If you are considering buying village vouchers as a gift DONT do it! Have delt with other businesses before with out of date vouchers and have never had a blanket no response that I've had here. Not good enough!
Short expiration - no grace period
I received a gift card with a $50 balance that had a 6 month expiration. Ridiculous. I didn't even notice how abnormally short of a time frame this was till I went to use it. Good thing I get discount tickets to Hoyts through RACV. We went there with 9 people and spent quite a bit at food vendors. All money that Village missed out on due to their frustrating and short sighted GC policy.

Not a gift
Received a gift card for birthday. Has expired after 12 months from issue, what a joke! Had no idea, neither did the gift giver. Shame on you Village cinemas, no wonder people are staying away from cinemas, easier to stay at home in front of fire with pj's and uggies on enjoying a vino, pizza and a good movie!!!
Village Gift Vouchers
I have the same problem. Got 2 x Gold Class vouchers as a gift. They expired by a few months and Village said they cannot extend the expiry date. Thought they were just like cash !
Never again Village
Village Gold Class Gift Vouchers… What a Rort!!!
My two $50 vouchers which I received as a gift were worthless because they were 15 months old, 3 months out of date. I rang village to protest and their response “Sorry we can’t do anything for you”.
So I paid a $10 booking Fee online, 2 x $50 Gold class tickets and $60 food and Village keeps the $100 which was a gift to me. In all out of pocket $270. I only realised this after I purchased food and tried paying with the gift vouchers. I wont accept Village Vouchers nor will I buy them as gifts ...
Village Cinemas Gift Card - instruments of theft.
I have had exactly the same experience as [name removed] with a $100 “expired” gold class gift voucher. My card contained an “issue date” but there is no prominent expiry date and you have to examine the fine print in the terms and conditions of the card to establish that, (a) it has an expiry and, (b) when that will occur.
It appears to me that the Village Cinemas gift card that I have does not comply with their legal obligations. (see the Consumer Affairs Victorian website - https://www.consumer.vic.gov.au/businesses/fair-trading/vouchers-...
Dont buy gift cards! Dont use Village!
Bought two gold gift cards, misplaced them and then found them again. They had gone 12 months pass the issue date. Well!!! They wont re issue them. They have my money but have not provided the service. Did my money expire??? Did they not make profit from my money???
And when you want to speak to someone with more authority there is no-one apparently. There is just [name removed] from customer service. There is no-one else in Australia, just [name removed]. No-one to write to, speak to (1300 only and thats [name removed]) or go and see. ...

Charging a $10 booking fee for a gift is ridiculous
Remove the booking fee - we're paying for expensive food and beverages at the cinema itself. Would never gift anyone tickets.
Village Cinemas Gift Cards
Received 4 Gold Class tickets as a family gift last Xmas. My husband and I both work full-time and our teenage kids have a full schedule of sports. Finally a window of opportunity to book appeared. Alas, the tickets had expired. No grace period. What a rip off!

Stay Away.... Don't buy any form of gift card!!!!!
I bought a gift voucher from Village after using google. Turns out they aren't in Qld even though I googled for Brissy!!!!
Tried to explain it the next day and they have been less than helpful and refuse to refund my tickets... Very disappointed!
Gift card 'not validated'
I recently tried to use a Village Cinema (VC) giftcard that had been given to me as a b'day present and when it wouldn't work, I rang VC to be told that it wasn't validated properly (by the authorised third party seller) at the time of purchase and as it wasn't sold by VC directly, they couldn't do anything. My friend no longer had the receipt (don't know anyone who keeps them for almost a year!) and VC were of little help, even when I told them where it was purchased from. It was a lousy $30 but the dismissive manner in which VC dealt with the matter was really disappointing, especially considering many giftcards never get used (and is therefore a money maker for them).

As a follow up I rang Village and after talking with them and sending them some details of the card they extended the expiry date and we were able to use it within a couple of months. It shouldn't be that hard though.
