Virgin Money No Annual Fee Visa (page 4 of 7)
Excellent
Excellent product. Westpac have rebranded it ignite but still the same deal as before - no fuss, no fees, low interest - what more could you want!
Great card - very low interest rate compared to all other credit cards - no annual fee.
No rewards program but hey - it's a no frills card and works great!

We have tried to cancel our Virgin Visa credit card for the past seven months. The problem is that Citibank do all the backroom stuff for Virgin. Overseas call centres with little understanding of English does not help our plight. The card had a $165.00 credit balance when we cut it up and advised Virgin of our decision. We can't access our statement (it's all electronic now) to see the balance and when we call we are told that the balance is 17cents! When asked what the latest debits are on the account, we are told that they will call us back....
Read more Yes, you guessed it, they never call. I sent a registered letter to their address in Sydney and received the confirmation of delivery by Australia post, but no reply whatsoever from Virgin. I cancelled my superannuation and online saver with Virgin with no hassle, but the credit card has become a saga. Be warned. Absolutely hopeless customer service.- 5 reviews

Would have given no stars if that was a choice
Citibank who do the back office for Virgin Credit Card would, in my opinion, undoubtedly be the most inept, incompetent and outright dishonest organisation I have ever had the misfortune to deal with.
Statements are ad hoc at best (of course statements help not to miss a payment), their customer service team border on harrassing if a payment is missed (give them anyones phone number but yours ... and defintiely don't give them a work number) and they fail to disclose in their advertising that its not all account balances they're prepared to ...
Thanks for taking the time for your comments - I'll stay well clear of my (new) Virgin card. If I had known Citibank was behind it I would never have gone ahead. I've dealt with Citibank a few times o...
Read morever the years and they are REALLY BAD, in every way possible. And in ways you'd think were impossible, for any sane, sensible, well-run business. There, cut it up already! Thanks again.
WORST customer service I've ever encountered.
Their customer service/call centre is the worst ever. While I'm not opposed to off-shore call-centres, they should at least be manned with people with half a brain! The people working in these call centres are complete idiots!
I have cancelled my card because of this and will be going back to nab again - at least they have people who know what planet they are on!

Just make sure you pay off the balance in full when it is due. That way with no annual fee and no interest the card has cost you nothing. Can easily keep track of spending on the internet and I've used it everywhere with no dramas. The customer service has been very friendly. As in other reviews, if you do some spending they're quick to send a letter offering an increased credit limit. Oh and the silver card is not silver more like off white but after all this time shopkeepers still comment on the funky shape of the card.
No fee's if u pay off when due.

I love my Virgin credit card!! There is no annual fee for having this card which is great for anyone. They have a great interest free 55 days which allows you to pay it back without the interest. Also if you do accumulate interest it is actually quite low. Although they have now changed over to Westpac but everything is still the same which is good. Its very hard to beat an annual free fee and low interest rates.
No annual fee ever. Funky colours to choose from, also it is a different shape to all the other credit cards out there.
None. its a great card.

a really good deal, great interest rate Westpac now have internet access to manage this card and a call centre on the original number but they are going to change everything that's what westpac do when they buy something.
A great card which is now not a Virgin card but has been purchased by Westpac and is now called the ignite card and can no longer be purchased
can not be purchased anymore

With Westpac having taken over the Virgin card, they are currently offering 0% interest until Sept. for transfer of balances from other cards, to the new card called Ignite. A really good deal.

I got this card as an extra emergency card as I use my nab velocity card where I earn velocity points for my main card. This is ideal as I do not want to pay an annual fee on a card a rarely ever use.
great card with no annual fees and low interest rate means if you pay your bill monthly you will never have to pay a cent extra and if you do keep debt on your credit card your interest charge will be minimal.
this card cannot be added to any points system not even virgin velocity.

It may be a one-off instance, but any banking institution that can 'accidentally' amalgamate two different people's accounts and not realise it is not to be trusted.
Low balance-transfer rate.
They accidentally amalgamated my account and an account of another Australian with the same first and last names (different middle name), charging me a $500 balance transfer that wasn't mine.
I called them up, they said I had to contact the bank of the other woman. The other bank involved couldn't give me any information as I wasn't the 'other' me and...
Read more the security questions weren't cleared. I called Virgin back and they referred it to the fraud group. They told me that the balance transferred had been cancelled and it was all ok. I then closed my account. Then a month later I receive a bill for this $500 and interest. I call them again and get told that it hasn't been resolved and that they will call me back. They haven't!- 4 reviews

Fantastic card
Fantastic credit card! No annual fee (ever), no annual fee (ever!) to have an additional cardholder. Everything is perfect - even the customer service! Would very highly recommend this card.
Everything - as I said - even the customer service.
and how much have you been paid by them or plain simply wind up from a single cell lifeform
As if this comment isn't a set up !! Odd how many people have serious issues & then this gets posted. It's a tad obvious virgin. You customer service is straight from a Stepen King novel.
Sorry but clearly a Virgin insider. The card is without question the worst experience you can get. The worst part is the customer service from a Phillipines where each person speaks of empathy but doe...

2.2 million aged pensioners in Australia are discriminated against and are not eligible for the "Virgin No Annual Fee" Credit Card. HSBC, Bankwest and Coles Group all offer similar low interest and no annual fee cards. Overall the card is great and hassel free as long as you pay ontime, after coming from a visa card the intrest rate is alot better on the virgin. I can recomend this card
Great look, no fees and good intrest rate
Found that after being two weeks late on a payment they rang me to say card had been suspended and was getting a late fee on the acccount, they did however waver the late fee after they relised it was my first missed payment in two years, although the guy on the phone was a little abrupt about the situation

This was a great card and dealing with Virgin was easy, fun and fast. I have never had fun dealing with financial services providers or big companies, but Virgin does make it fun!
Never ever regretted working with Virgin in any field - awesome company to deal with. Even when they closed down their low rate card the first time, they ensured I would get IDENTICAL treatment, guarenteed, from the company that took over (westpac). This was not my experience with my credit union when they disendorsed their branded card - I was left at the mercy...
Read more of Citibank who jacked up the interest rates continuously. So yeah, Virgin was WAY better, even in handing over. Fast, easy to get, low rates, really clear communication, SUPERB customer service and customer care - protected me even when they stopped offering the card the first time. I missed them when they stopped running the card the 1st time! I wish Virgin would provide more products, they are the best business to deal with in any space, seriously. You HAVE to be joking ! They are absolutely terrible ... my opinion is that you are not bonifide in your comment.

Overall, Virgin Credit Card is a very good product. No annual fees, ever. Easy to navigate the website. Excellent customer service with the call centre staff. Only once have been disappointed, when I couldn't get an increase on my card limit. But apart from that, I am very happy. Especially as I make sure I pay on or before the due date so I never get charged interest.
The fact that they never had an annual fee, and hopefully never will. The bright colours are great, too. It stands out in my purse, so is easy to find.
That they changed to Westpac.

Still no annual fee

I have this card since 2007 and love it. Too bad Virgin Money has been acquired by Westpac. I don't think Westpac offer this product anymore. I guess no reason to do that and they are probably more interested in selling their own products.
No annual fee

This was the best card out there in its Virgin Days, the concept and low rates couldn't be beaten, until westpac came and screwed it up! they have since raised rates like 2% - 3% extra.
I will be getting rid of my high interest ignite card as a new years resolution!
No annual fee!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice Colors.
This Card was too my first credit card, and i loved it, until Greedy westpac bought out the debts, and almost 6 months later the raised the interest rates.
The new Ignite card they call it now, can be seen as greedy and staff can be very inflexible.
They are quite willing to charge you late payment fees when the sum owed is less the the non payment fees itself.

By the end of every month, I generally use my credit card to do grocery shopping and pay things here and there. I generally use my virgin (now Ignite by westpac) credit card since it has the 55 days interest free period. The good thing is, unlike other cards, this one does not charge any annual fee whatever, but then again since I use it soo often, have points on every dollar I spent would have been great.
A good creadit car because it does not charge any annual fee and also has the 55 day interest free period.
There is no points system on this credit card

I was happier with the credit card when it was under virgin, I used to get discounts at Sanity music and other virgin partners. Not to mention discounts on other virgin services like mobile. If it wasn't for the no annual fee - I'd probably change to a different credit provider.
I'm happy that that there is no annual fee and has a low interest rate. Quite informative- if there are any changes, they send you a letter to tell you about the changes.

A good card overall. Low interest rates means that if balance does carry over to the next month, one isn't slugged with excessive rates. The zero annual fee is immediate savings compared of other cards on the market.
No annual fees is definitely an attraction - a potential savings of 10s if not hundred of dollars compared to some other cards. Up to 55 days interest free period useful for those users who like to pay out full amount on the due date.
No rewards program. If one uses the card quite a bit, a reward program for that level of loyalty ought to be available.

I've had this card since they introduced it onto the market and I have been very happy with its performance. I think it was a very clever marketing ploy to have the card made with a unique design with one corner cut off. Having it available in different colours would have also enticed many new users. The online account access was very easy to use to check current statements and balances. When you spend up big on the card, they will send you a letter to ask if you want to increase your limit, so you have to be diligent and learn to say 'no.
No annual fee ever, 55 day interest free period on all your purchases, low 12.99% interest rate.
No rewards programme available.

I'm happy with this card. There are no bells and whistles in the form of bonus points for this and that, but it also doesnt have charges flying at you everywhere. I have made a late payment once, and usually pay the monthly balance in full, so the most it has cost me is about $35 in five years.
no annual fee, lower interest rates, choice of colours (initially at least). It was taken as a symbol of excellent credit history, given that they werent given out easily.
it's a bit disappointing that it swicthed to westpac and associated changes. Of course, this means you cant really get the original virgin credit card anymore either.

seriously, I felt very cool when I had my Virgin credit card. It was my first ever credit card and I never had any problem with that. The staff was very friendly with my queries and patiently answered them very easily. Switching to WESTPAC has been a pain. Anyway, it is still a great card with attention-seeking colours, would any bank dare to challenge them on concept and innovation after all? Also, the provision of rewards system would prove a hit, but then we may hit with a fee instead.
Unique design, typical Virgin concept of rule-breaking design.
direct switch to Westpac Ignite card when it eased.

This card is a really good first credit card as it has no annual fee and a low interest rate. It is provided by a reputable company, so that is why I liked it as well.
This crd is great as it has no annual fee and a pretty competitive interest rate. I like the funky design and the diffeerent colours to choose from as well. I like the Mates Rates available with various Virgin partners. I chose the card because it is provided by a reputable company, and backed by Westpac.
The only thing that this card is missing is a rewards system. But I think that this is a small price to pay when you have no annual fee and a good interest rate.
